Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

This mountain house is amazing! It has a gorgeous view and is so relaxing. We had 9 people and had more than enough room to bring more people if needed. We did not even use the downstairs kitchen/living or the upstairs loft/living room. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. Keep in mind there is no A/C, but we stayed in the middle of August and slept fine with the windows open at night (the house is very high up the mountain so it is much cooler up there). The deck with the view is where we spent all of our time! There is a grill which was perfect for our group, but the propane tanks were both empty, so come prepared. The road getting up to the house is definitely steep and windy..if you get carsick, beware. The trash is a bit of an inconvenience since they are closed on Sundays, but we made it work. Asheville is only about an hour away, as well as the Nantahala Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting! Cherokee is even closer, but we did not make it there this time. I highly recommend this house for large groups and I plan on returning sometime! Thanks Eskildsen's for allowing us to enjoy your home!

The home was clean, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

Our group of five ladies had plenty of room and enjoyed mornings and evenings on the spacious deck enjoying sunrises and the beautiful view. We found that the location was very good for the areas we wanted to visit: Pisgah, looking for waterfalls; Asheville and Biltmore; Brevard; Cherokee and Bryson City. Ingels grocery was our go-to for supplies, but there was lots of food in the pantry and kitchen so recommend that future renters go to the house first to see what's available before grocery shopping. (check expiration dates, though)

Knowing how to drive up and down the steep climb from the bottom of the mountain to near the top is a MUST! Once we found our way the first time, it seemed to be easy to navigate, and took about 15 minutes each way. But, after all, it is over 5000 feet up the mountain!

There were some lightbulbs out, but not so that it caused any problems during our stay, and has been brought to the owner's attention.

It was quite warm while we were there in late July (daytime temps 88-90 degrees f) but, it cooled comfortably at night. A few complaints about lack of air conditioning, but very bearable since we were out most of the day. Overall, we liked the home very much and were glad we selected it to stay in during our NC mountains visit.

Great Place!

  • 4 of 5

This place was wonderful and exactly as advertised. The home had 4 great sized bedrooms and 1 smaller bedroom that is very functional. The owners had it stocked with almost everything you would need. There is no A/C but we never needed it on Memorial Day weekend...in fact sometimes it got cool with the windows open. The view is amazing and worth renting the place alone. The deck is huge and expansive, perfect for large group gatherings. It is a 15 minute drive straight up a hill, so be aware, but once you arrive you will never want to leave. The only reason I leave 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no trash pick up on the mountain so you need to take your trash down the hill. Unfortunately the location where you can drop off your trash is a 20 minute drive from the house and not open on Sunday's, Tuesdays, or Holidays. Therefore leaving on Memorial Day created quite the problem for us and we were forced to find other means for dumping our trash. This was an unfortunate way to end an amazing weekend at a beautiful home!

The best place for relaxation!!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed this gorgeous place three weeks ago (during April 21 to 24) with friends and their children (3 families with 6 adults and 5 children). Everything was perfect for full relaxation. Especially the viewpoint from the deck (from the 5100 feet) was so amazing. We could enjoy various spectacular scenery (fully foggy, foggy+sunny, and sun-shine), it looked like ink-and-wash painting. It was absolutely terrific in the early morning with good coffee smell. All in the property were well-furnished. Michael and Donna were very kind and it was easy to reach out to them. They gave us immediate responses (for example, when I arrived X-box and its CDs were not there. For this complaint, they acted immediately to purchase a new one (but I did not bring this from a game-shop due to my time limit and time spent for other activities). Thanks again Michael and Donna for giving your hospitality and consideration during my stays. But if I can mention, there were two things as a recommendation: 1. It was not easy to find ‘water heater breakers’ inside of ‘Breaker panel’ in the basement. With Michael’s kind oral description, we could find that switch for turn-on but it was really not easy (Please insert an image on that location into your detailed paper-instructions); 2. Yes. We could fully understand we have to remove our own trash by ourselves if we don’t want to meet the wild animals (BEAR?) during and after our stay. But also not easy to find that trash collection site (please also with an image for that location) and a future rentalee should remember that Tuesday and Sunday will be not available to use that site. This great experience and memory will be kept in the deepest place in my heart.

Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

What a great house for a multi-generational family vacation. Our group ranged from 18 months to 91 years and the layout was ideal. This lovely home is beautifully furnished, extremely well-equipped, and clean as a pin! Thank you to Michael and Donna for the use of your wonderful mountain retreat...and a special thanks for being such responsive and kind hosts. We could not have had a more perfect week!
