Pros: location! Fantastic views! Really unique old house. Plenty of space for my family of 6. Well stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels, soap, shampoo. Felt very clean overallCons: mattress and pillows desperately need updated. Word of caution: price quoted is for 2 people. Additional charge for each guest. (This is mentioned in description, but we missed it.)Stairs to house and in house are very narrow and steep! Owner mentions this. Just be sure to consider if you have any older people. But, overall a great stay! Would definitely recommend and we would stay again if in the area.

We thank this guest for her review. For clarification: The mattresses are all high-end Denver Mattress brand mattresses, and the pillows were all replaced last month.
Property is perfectly located. We were able to enjoy all of the points of interest. The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were able to visit the Cliffs Cave Dwelling, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, and Garden of the Gods. We also rode the Cogway Railway which is a short walk from the home. We really enjoyed the hot tub, and the enclosure made it even more comfortable. This property checked every box and we look forward to returning!
The cottage was quaint and cozy. It was well stocked with a full kitchen and everything we needed. The views were spectacular, especially from the large deck. The host thought of everything, even holiday season decorations. We especially enjoyed wood burning fireplace/stove and we plan to stay again next year. Note: the parking is limited and the host lives next door and does monitor the property/parking.

We thank this guest for her review. To clarify, our parking area is adequate for three vehicles only; our host does not live next door.
Our family of four stayed for 4 nights. We loved the location. We were able to walk into downtown Manitou Springs as well as the trailhead for the Barr Trail is only a 3 min walk. Great views from the balcony. Home was equipped with everything we needed and then some.
Great house with tons of character. The location is perfect as its near town, the cog train, and Garden of the Gods.Pack light, the front steps are a challenge and the door lock, while explained needs attention, but all in all a great property.
We loved this house. It had everything we needed and plenty of space for 3 adults and 4 kids. The house has a ton of character and doesn’t at all feel like so many of the bland houses we’ve stayed in before. Plenty of amenities, super clean and the most gorgeous location.
The property was very comfortable, clean, and scenic!

The house itself was in good working order. Its an older house but was cozy. The stairs to get to the house and to leave were diabolical. I would not reccomend this home to anyone older with physical difficulties or anyone with kids.
This place was awesome, lots of privacy great views, loved to watch the sunrise on the open outside upper deck. Owner very good in responding to questions, will stay here again.
Great view and location. Nicely appointed Kitchen and bathroom. Rest of unit seriously needed a deep cleaning. Very dusty. Old carpet needs replacing

We thank this guest for his review. Housecleaners will be alerted to do a better job of dusting; our apologies. For clarification, the carpet is only a few years old and shampooed every Fall.
Loved that it is a short walk to metro to get to town and to get to the incline and cog railway station.

Why they chose this property
As a little girl growing up in western Kansas, my mother and I would take several trips a year out to Colorado, riding the Cog Railway every August. As the Cogway traveled toward the summit of Pikes Peak, I remember many times gazing over at this particular cottage situated on the mountainside dreaming about what it would be like to own that home. After being in the previous owners family for over 100 years, I magically had the opportunity to purchase the historic hillside home. Spending time at the vacation home has brought back special memories of the time I spent here with my mother (who has sadly passed away). I hope all guests who stay here will feel how special (in so many ways) this property really is.
What makes this property unique
We could not believe this property was finally for sale after being in the same family for over 100 years. We jumped at the chance to own this particular cottage located in such a special "residential owners only" area on the upper edge of historic Manitou Springs. Take in the fresh mountain air while sitting on the balcony overlooking Ruxton Creek, listen for the Cog Railway blow it's horn, watch people ride up to Pikes Peak summit waving as they go by. Walk a few hundred feet and arrive at Barr Trail TH, Manitou Incline, and Cog Railway. The historic and unique cottage is located at the end of a private road providing unparalleled privacy, quiet, and unbeatable views of Garden of the Gods, surrounding mountains, wildlife, and the valley below.
