I go by Shelby and I am a sagittarius:) Which makes me a lover of travel and adventure . I like to write, read, eat really good food in really nice or really unusual restaurants, and listen to all kinds of music (country, jazz, blues, classical, old rock) I appreciate a finely crafted cocktail and prefer "top shelf". My husband and I have 10 horses (mostly quarter horses) and we like to trail ride at the beach and numerous state parks. I am a fan of camping. I would like to work on the "glamping" thing. I work full time as a realtor in NE Florida. I specialize in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US! My work keeps me really busy but I like it as I get to work with buyers and sellers from all different walks of life and I get to see a lot of nice homes. I like renovation projects best as I love to see an old home with good bones get new life. In early life I grew up on 40 acres in Pennsylvania. I moved to S. Florida in the 80's and now live near St. Augustine, FL.
Michelle Shelby Spinneweber purchased this cabin in 2014
My husband and I used to walk by this farm regulary when we would stay at our other vacation home and say wouldnt that be nice to have someday. And then one day there was a for sale sign in the yard and the rest is history. We love the acreage, So much room, so much privacy, so much beauty! We enjoy the sound of the creek as it slowly meanders through the property and we love to see the wildlife as it appears. We were also very sold on the easy access and the convenience of the location to all the area's ammenities and activities! This lil cabin in one of two cabins on this huge and private property. It was formerly a dog grooming parlor. I did a complete renovation of the building and made sure to squeeze in every ammenity and upgrade I could think of when I was bringing this adorable 200sf of space to life!
Super close to NOC, Lake Fontana, Smokey Mountain Railroad. Super easy access on a paved road and gravel road with plenty of room to park vehicles and or a boat. Really quiet and peaceful setting but so close to so many wonderful things to do!
Get ready to enjoy an amazing retreat to the mountains! Hoot Owl has an amazing view and spacious room all at an affordable rate! The house was clean and tidy when we got there making it easy to transition to relaxation. The hot tub makes for an amazing late night get away under the stars or just an all around beautiful hang out spot. This is definitely a place my family and I will be traveling back to for many years
We stayed 3 nights and loved it! The hot tub was very relazing, the inside of the cabin is gorgeous and there is another place near by but we only saw them when we were going somewhere, so it was very peaceful. We really enjoyed it and the scenery was beautiful.
We enjoyed our stay at Creekside Cricket, nice amenities in cabin, one of the perks for me was a washer and dryer which came in handy, as we did a lot of outdoor stuff! Very comfortable and convenient to so many things. Like a little Doll House, perfect for us and our 2 little dogs!
Had a absolutely wonderful stay! We booked 5 nights and wished we had more time here. The cabin is very well updated with all the amenities which made our stay very comfortable. The property the cabin is on is spacious and our 2 dogs loved playing outside everyday! Tough to leave as we had made some wonderful memories, and we are looking forward to our next vacation here!
We had an amazing weekend! The area is beautiful and secluded but within minutes to NOC and shopping. Accommodations were beyond perfect and the hot tub was a great end to each wonderful day! Highly recommend!
My wife and I booked "Creekside Cricket", for 3 nights, for our 2 year wedding anniversary. It was absolutely wonderful.
The house itself is beautiful! The layout and design is so unique and worked out perfect for us. We loved the beautiful wood floors, the relaxing, stone floor shower, and the awesome little kitchen area. I would advise if you are staying for longer than 3 days to bring yourself a ice chest/large cooler to keep your perishable food items in. The fridge/freezer provided is very nice, but it is very small and can barely fit a medium pizza box inside it. So if you like to cook or save lots of takeout for later, bring a cooler.
The house sits on a gorgeous piece of property and it's very peaceful and private. We became skeptical of this when we first arrived because the gravel drive to other houses runs within feet of the house and there's another home within 500yds away, BUT it was never an issue. The only time I ever heard a car come down the drive was when I was standing outside, and I literally only seen it drive by one time. The little creek running by the bedroom window is so peaceful to hear at night and it's so relaxing to hear it rain on that tin roof.
The location of the house is very remote, but man the views in the surrounding area are fantastic. The commute to all the activities ranges from 15-30 minutes away which is perfect if you're looking for somewhere peaceful and away from the crowds.
Last, but not least, is the host herself. Shelby was a wonderful host! Any question we had was answered quickly. She goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are well taken care of, and that is NOT something you will find in any of those hotels/resorts. If you don't think this house is for you I would recommend talking to her to see if she has any other properties in the area that would better suit you.
My wife and I plan on coming back again soon and we both highly recommend booking this place before we book it out for the year haha. Hope this review is helpful!
My husband and I were looking for a place to get away from it all and rest. We had just moved our two children to college and moved ourselves. We were exhausted. Creekside Cricket offered just what we needed. It was very clean and offered updated amenities.
The cabin is just 15 minutes to both Nantahayla Outdoor Center, white water rafting, horseback riding, Bryson City, Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, Tsali, and Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Cherokee with it's casino and many activities is only 30 minutes away. Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon is only 25 minutes away.
