About Michelle Shelby Spinneweber

I go by Shelby and I am a sagittarius:) Which makes me a lover of travel and adventure . I like to write, read, eat really good food in really nice or really unusual restaurants, and listen to all kinds of music (country, jazz, blues, classical, old rock) I appreciate a finely crafted cocktail and prefer "top shelf". My husband and I have 10 horses (mostly quarter horses) and we like to trail ride at the beach and numerous state parks. I am a fan of camping. I would like to work on the "glamping" thing. I work full time as a realtor in NE Florida. I specialize in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US! My work keeps me really busy but I like it as I get to work with buyers and sellers from all different walks of life and I get to see a lot of nice homes. I like renovation projects best as I love to see an old home with good bones get new life. In early life I grew up on 40 acres in Pennsylvania. I moved to S. Florida in the 80's and now live near St. Augustine, FL.

Why Michelle Shelby Spinneweber chose Smoky Mountains

My husband and I used to walk by this farm regulary when we would stay at our other vacation home and say wouldnt that be nice to have someday. And then one day there was a for sale sign in the yard and the rest is history. We love the acreage, So much room, so much privacy, so much beauty! We enjoy the sound of the creek as it slowly meanders through the property and we love to see the wildlife as it appears. We were also very sold on the easy access and the convenience of the location to all the area's ammenities and activities! This lil cabin in one of two cabins on this huge and private property. It was formerly a dog grooming parlor. I did a complete renovation of the building and made sure to squeeze in every ammenity and upgrade I could think of when I was bringing this adorable 200sf of space to life!

What makes this cabin unique

Super close to NOC, Lake Fontana, Smokey Mountain Railroad. Super easy access on a paved road and gravel road with plenty of room to park vehicles and or a boat. Really quiet and peaceful setting but so close to so many wonderful things to do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Get ready to enjoy an amazing retreat to the mountains! Hoot Owl has an amazing view and spacious room all at an affordable rate! The house was clean and tidy when we got there making it easy to transition to relaxation. The hot tub makes for an amazing late night get away under the stars or just an all around beautiful hang out spot. This is definitely a place my family and I will be traveling back to for many years

Perfection in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

Wanted a weekend getaway for a wedding anniversary- this was perfect. So secluded but yet close to Bryson City, so we could enjoy our time in this adorable town when needed. This tiny house was perfect for just the two of us! (My only suggestion might be to get new towels and sheets - seemed a little old and worn)...but other than that- perfection!

I DO NOT WANT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW

  • 5 of 5

I'd like to keep this hideaway secret, like to return again and again without waiting in line....but I'd also like to thank the owners for creating such a lovely, safe, and peaceful place for guests to enjoy. I wanted a week alone, with my small dog, to spend time on my writing. I read the reviews, compared rentals in the area, and chose Creekside Cricket. I couldn't have been luckier. The setting is well maintained and gorgeous, the cabin so well designed that I never wanted more space. Everything in the cabin, from the dishes (matching!), cups and knives, to the furniture, were nice, well chosen. The cabin shares property with another rental house, which is close by, but the closeness never felt invasive. It is just a wonderful piece of property with the two rentals, fruit trees, lots of birds, a creek that my dog loved, well maintained fields, fireflies, quiet. I was alone and felt perfectly safe with the surroundings. The owners were a text away, and immediately responsive to questions, inquiries. I hated to leave my little hideaway, but I will certainly return...if you don't get there first.
