My husband George and I purchased this lovely farm in 2014 to compliment our other vacation rental in the area and to have a place to bring our horses when we come up to visit. I go by Shelby. I love to travel and adventure . I also like to write, read, eat really good food in really nice or really unusual restaurants, and listen to all kinds of music (country, jazz, blues, classical, old rock) I appreciate a finely crafted cocktail and prefer 'top shelf'. My husband likes to hunt and spend time in the 'man cave'. My husband and I have 9 horses (mostly quarter horses) and we like to trail ride at the beach and numerous state parks. We are fans of camping. I work full time as a realtor in NE Florida and I specialize in St. Augustine which is the oldest city in the US! My husband is an Agricultural Officer. In early life I grew up on 40 acres in Pennsylvania. I moved to S. Florida in the 80's and now live near St. Augustine, FL. My husband traveled all over the country before calling St. Augustine home. We love having two homes in the Smokey Mountains in NC and are thrilled that we can share the joy of these special places with our guests!
Michelle Shelby Spinneweber purchased this cabin in 2014
My husband and I used to walk by this farm regulary when we would stay at our other vacation home and say wouldnt that be nice to have someday. And then one day there was a for sale sign in the yard and the rest is history. We love the acreage, So much room, so much privacy, so much beauty! We enjoy the sound of the creek as it slowly meanders through the property and we love to see the wildlife as it appears. We were also very sold on the easy access and the convenience of the location to all the area's ammenities and activities!
Super close to NOC, Lake Fontana, Smokey Mountain Railroad. Super easy access on a paved road and gravel road with plenty of room to park vehicles and or a boat. Really quiet and peaceful setting but so close to so many wonderful things to do!
Our stay here was very wonderful, it is located in a very small community that allows the use of a pond and field for guests. The pond has a paddle boat and inner tubes, and the field can be used for many kinds recreational use, and is nice to walk around for morning walks. The streams running through the property are very relaxing to listen to while resting on the front porch swing. The small back deck has a hot tub and grill that were also a highlight of our stay. The kitchen is well stocked and has a nice eating area for 6 people. Even though pets are allowed, it is still extremely well kept and didn't bother my allergies at all. It was a nice size for my husband and I, and will be nice to go back to when we have kids and pets. The closest town is Bryson City and is worth spending some time in; Nantahala Brewery, Charles Heath Gallery, Craftsman Cottage, and Nate and Nick's Pizza are just a few. We also enjoyed Calaboose Cellars in Andrews, NC. Almond Boat Rental is right up the road and was run by a sweet family and was great for renting a pontoon boat. Michelle was a wonderful host, she was quick to respond and was available when we needed to contact her. I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for a peaceful and secluded getaway from a fast pace life. It has absolutely amazing views wherever you go.
This cabin's location couldn't be more perfect, only a few minutes to town, on the end of a very quiet road, it was wonderful. The house was clean and just as we expected from the description, hot tub was hot, and my wife absolutely loved the porch swing.
Recommend , good location , great place to stay
The owners were wonderful to work with. The house was nicely decorated and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you need. The main TV did not work but there are two more and they are getting a new one to replace, that fast. We did not bring our dog and were refunded the $ with no problem. Would stay again if we come back this way! Rode the GSM train, drove the Dragon (US129), and shopped in Bryson. Overall, great stay.
We only had a few days to stay and this was an ideal little farmhouse.
The weather was beautiful and the setting was perfect to enjoy the outdoor amenities
as well as the indoor comforts. It is apparent that a lot of time, money and care have
been spent to create the perfect atmosphere. Everything we needed was
We really enjoyed our stay.
My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary. Firefly Haven is a cute house that's the perfect size for a nice getaway. The babbling brook is so charming! We love that our dog was welcome to stay with us. Our stay was during the off season for this particular area but we wanted a quiet week away from everything. We only left for a grocery run and a day trip to Asheville.
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Firefly...and yes there are fireflies (which my grandchildren had never seen)...they are slippery little suckers...and hard to catch, but that's half the fun. You can sit on the porch and hear the sound of a babbling brook, in the evenings after catching Fireflies you can gather around the outdoor fireplace and make Some-Mores. The little lake is great for morning and evening swims. Lots of fun activities, tubing at Deep Creek, a must. Zip Lining great...hiking nearby wonderful. The property is beautiful...would recommend it for families or couples. Dinnie Rzepinski
The cottage is just 15 minutes to both Nantahayla Outdoor Center, white water rafting, horseback riding, Bryson City, Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, Tsali, and Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Cherokee with it's casino and many activities is only 30 minutes away. Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon is only 25 minutes away.
