It is simply paradise.
Nature, sea, forest, beach, views, peace, and a friendly community and 45 minutes from Seattle by beaitiful road and short stunning ferry ride.
We recently stayed at this lovely home We had two dogs and a first grade child. All three enjoyed running and playing in this large yard. It was easy to find and right between Poulsbo and Port Gamble. We had plenty to do each day and came back to watch the eagles and hawks soaring above the cliff. The view was beautiful even during a very windy storm.
Such a neat rental! The property is magical with space to walk, admire wildflowers and trees, listen to the birds & watch the views! The home has a lovely historic feel and has all you need to cook and relax. The covered porch was a treat when it rained. I could sit on the swing forever down at the property edge. We'll be back!
My husband and I wanted a beautiful, serene but somewhat rugged and wild place for our vacation week on Puget Sound. We thought the photos of Eagle House looked too good to be true, but found it even better in real life! The home is set back from the edge of a bluff and has expansive views of the Sound, Bainbridge Island, the distant Seattle skyline, Mt. Rainier, and the ever-changing sky. You reach it via a country lane that winds through a deep forest. The day we arrived we were thrilled to see a bald eagle perched on a snag right in front of the house, and nearly every day we saw her going about hunting and nest-building.
Eagle House itself is very spacious and classic; sparely and tastefully decorated (this isn’t a cabin full of knick-knacks). Every window offers lovely views of greenery or sky and water, yet there’s a sense of total privacy. The large, covered porch facing the water is a wonderful spot to enjoy a cup of tea, and there’s a cozy fireplace in the living room. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, and we enjoyed home-cooked meals in the gracious dining room. The master bedroom had its own large closet and bath a very comfortable queen-sized bed, and bay windows facing an enormous maple tree. One of the best rooms is the upstairs office, with another even higher deck and spectacular views.
The charming village of Indianola is a short drive or walk from the property, with a public pier, a post office and a deli-store. We enjoyed walks on the cobblestone, driftwood-strewn beach from the town or via public stairs about 1/2 mile walk from the property. Susan, the caretaker who lives in a small cottage on the property, was helpful, friendly, and non-intrusive. Everything was very clean and well-cared for. We would definitely recommend Eagle House to anyone who values nature, solitude, comfort and beauty—and we hope to go back soon.
