I felt a few key details weren’t disclosed. First, parking for two cars was difficult with the driveway. We had to back out of a steep uphill, then downhill and gravel, as there was no way to turn a truck around. Our other vehicle was a car, we had to make 3 point turns without the truck being parked there to leave forward. Had we known we could have taken different vehicles, we did a lot of coming and going during our stay.Second there are a lot of personal and odd photo items throughout the home. And a lot of labels to not touch. We were freezing in the home we found many, many blankets that said to not touch. We also couldn’t use the fireplace due to the following and most irritating reason- there was no functioning microwave and a large shipping box that looked to be a new microwave placed in the living area in front of the fireplace. There was no information provided that we would not have a microwave for preparing food for this stay. I brought a lot of food for my family and ended up having to order or purchase different food locally. And the home is older and the area with the sleeper sofa appears to be an addition with wet/musty smells unfortunately. Mainly wiring this review to help any future guests with similar needs, and after contacting Meredith Lodging directly and receiving a cut/paste response with no resolve since I ‘didn’t contact them during our (busy) stay’ to wait around for someone to instal a microwave! Not impressed.

Great house

The kitchen was well stocked and clean; the view is awesome; the double mattress could use replacing as could the pull out sofa. Brighter lightbulbs would also be helpful. Other than that it's a terrific place to stay.

Beautiful property with a breathtaking view

This property was absolutely perfect for a restful getaway. Loved the location and scenery. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The floors are slippery so bring socks or slippers with grippers on the bottom. Would definitely recommend this property.

Perfect getaway.

We truly enjoyed our stay. Place was quiet, surrounded by trees, with an ocean view. It was close to a beautiful beach and some hiking trails. Cabin was well equipped with all essential.

Beautiful & peaceful

We loved our stay at Neahkahnie Beach! The view from the porch/patio was beautiful and it was the perfect spot for our day trips around the area.

Unfortunate experience

I have rented through VRBO for the past 20 years after moving to the PNW. I have always been pleased with the properties and conditions. I was excited to continue my positive experience, hosting visiting family from far away. Normally we receive detailed correspondence from VRBO regarding entry and preferred procedure of the home. Hours before leaving for the property, we had to call for such details. That's fine, things happen. Once we arrive, we notice the condition of the home right away. Floors are dirty, cobwebs around fixtures, pictures, corners, and window treatments. Again, I can understand if someone hasn't rented in a while. The big upsets, the dishes in the cabinets were dirty to touch and appearance. Not ok for the expense of the home for 2 nights. And I'm fully aware of all the charges involved in these rentals. The final disappointment was the internet that we desperately needed to complete our work obligations (why we chose the home that adversitised Wifi) to find it was also not in operation. We called VRBO and property management who did try to help, but after 3 phone calls and apologies the internet was never recovered. In my 20 years of rentals through VRBO, this is my first complaint against a property. This was a circumstance of many unfortunate events. I won't be renting this property again.

Beach getaway

Overall this was a nice property to stay at! The location is unbeatable and the view is spectacular. It is worth it to note that there is no central AC - as someone from another state, I didn’t know this was somewhat normal especially in older homes. The decor in the property was somewhat odd, and we didn’t enjoy the small notes left in many places telling us what we can and cannot touch - it made the property feel less homey. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay

At the beach

Nice ocean view, spacious home, rustic/clean, secluded. Lovely neighborhood, very close to downtown Manzanita. Really enjoyed our stay, would book again. No dishwasher but kitchen well stocked. Didn’t need to reach out to property manager for anything.

Relaxing time with lovely view

Very clean and conveniently located. Easy walk to the beach. You just have to be comfortable walking uphill to get back. Well equipped kitchen with nice quality pots and pans.

Beautiful & Serene

Pan's Abode is a cozy and quiet retreat! The view of the trees through the many windows and sparkling ocean below was our favorite part. Watching the morning fog and mist was a beautiful addition to our morning coffee routine. The house itself was older and not updated but very well maintained. The thoughtful and loving touches from the owners made us feel well taken care of and safe. My only complaint was that the communication from the property manager was terrible. The WiFi wasn't working when we arrived, which wasn't a deal breaker because the cell service was pretty good, however my husband has health issues so having WiFi for research and communication on devices without cell service (like a table or laptop) is helpful. I called Meredith Lodging who told me there was a WiFi / cable outage in the area. When the WiFi was still out the next day and I couldn't find anything about the outage online, I called Meredith again (Monday) and was told someone would call me back. No one did. I called the next day (Tuesday) and no one picked up so I left a voicemail but no one called back. The next day (Wednesday) was our check out day and Meredith was all over emailing and texting me about checking out, which frustrated me - when I needed something, I wasn't a priority, but when they needed to make sure we checked out properly, I was suddenly a priority. I will be weary of staying at another Meredith Lodging property in the future.

Anniversary Getaway

It was perfect for my wife and I on our anniversary. I grew up in a much larger version of the quaint, cute, clean, and "loved" cabin. The setting is magical with the ocean view, sound of the waves, and the lovely foliage. Its carved out of the side of the hill and you feel complete privacy. But bring coffee!

Frustration

After struggling to get the key pad open we walked in for our 2 night stay. There was a basket with 4 remotes and no instruction about TV. Finally called office and they put in a work order. They came and "fixed" it all. We found that in truth there was no TV just Netflix, etc. that we could use our own passwords to use. The frustration is how long we spent trying to get to the TV which was not available.

Comfortable, funky home

Nice view of ocean. One mile walking to beach (with moderate hill). House was clean. Had increasingly musty/old smell in futon room and half bath area. Garbage not emptied before arriving. Strewn by nighttime animals around outside area. Promised service call. No one showed. Extremely high fees for this rental. No dishwasher or disposal. No local channels on TV. No wood for fireplace. No soap to do required laundry upon departure. Otherwise, wonderful stay with friends.

Great Location, Underwhelming Interior

The real show stopper of this home is that it’s tucked away in the trees with great views of the ocean from the patio and inside the home. We found the interior to be quite dark and also cluttered with numerous knick naks. Much of the contents in the home are very dated, the furniture is worn and the headrests of one of the living room chairs was very stained. There was an abundance of stickers throughout the home stating “owners, do not use” which is fine but also doesn’t give your guests the feeling of home away from home. We still had a great vacation and I think this location has a lot of potential but is in desperate need of updating and a better guest experience.

Quant Spot

The property was a nice little bungalow. Very peaceful. We enjoyed the views of the beach right from the house. The house is not the most modern but worked for what we needed. The town was wonderful and provided an easy access to travel both up and down the cost. The only strange thing was all the notes and directions for occupants regarding the owners stuff. Wasn't inconvenient, just strange. 10/10 would stay there again.

Cozy stay with beautiful view!

Spent our first weekend away as a family of three on a stormy Memorial Day Weekend, and could not have asked for a lovelier place. It's quaint and charming and has a lovely view, and it was a perfect place to hunker down while it stormed, and then appreciate the sun breaks from the deck. It was a short walk down to the beach, and a quick drive into town. If you're looking for updated and modern this is NOT the house for you. But if you love quirks and period charm, then look no further!
