Welcome to Bird’s Eye View, a spacious 1 bedroom Isle of Palms vacation rental with one of the most entertaining balcony views at The Ocean Inn. From your private porch you can watch the activity of island life unfold below. Guests heading to the beach, kids splashing in the pool, bikes and golf carts passing by, and sometimes even music drifting through the air from nearby spots like Coconut Joe’s. If you enjoy people watching and feeling part of the energy of the island, this is a fun place to do it.
This upstairs condo has a unique layout and plenty of natural light. With five windows in the living area and high ceilings, the space feels open and airy. It is larger than many one bedroom condos in the complex, giving you a little extra room to spread out and relax after a day at the beach.
The décor is eclectic and full of personality. Nothing is overly matched or staged, but that is part of the charm. It feels more like staying in someone’s beach home than a cookie cutter rental.
The living room features a queen sleeper sofa, cable TV, and a dining table placed near the window so you can enjoy the view or keep an eye on the activity outside. Pull the table out for extra space if you are playing games, working on puzzles, or gathering around for a casual meal.
The kitchen is compact but efficient, with a slightly elevated layout that reflects the unique history of the building. You will find a full stove and oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, cookware, dishes, and everything needed for simple meals or breakfast before the beach. There is no dishwasher, but plenty of towels are provided.
The bedroom includes a queen bed, small TV, and closet space for your belongings.
One design feature to note is the location of the bathroom. It sits just off the entry area rather than inside the bedroom. Many guests actually appreciate this setup since those using the sleeper sofa can access the bathroom without walking through the bedroom.
The condo has two entrances, one near the pool area and one near the balcony side of the building. Coming in from the pool or beach, the bathroom is right inside the door which is convenient for rinsing off or cleaning up without walking through the entire condo.

Our stay was wonderful.The facility was clean and very comfortable. Communication with Beth was continuous and very helpful.Close to the beach and easy to walk to. We will be back next year. Thank you.
This cute little condo was perfect for my wife, teenage son and me as we were in town for a sports tournament. The condo is equipped with anything you may need for a short stay or week long vacation. Great location to the beach, shops and the pool is literally inches from the door. Parking is convenient. The bed mattress is very firm with little support but we like a firm mattress, so this was not an issue with us, just letting future guests know. All in all, a great little spot for a quick or extended vacation.
Great property and communication with host. Property was clean and great distance to everything. Unit has several stairs which might not be best with someone with a little child. The other issue was several windows had no blinds. If sleeping in living room it was always bright due to outside lights. Make sure you bring a travel shade if you need bedroom to stay dark after sunrise. Overall unit was great and would definitely return to this property.

Thank you for this thoughtful review! This condo is a guest favorite and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Guests tell us that the location, not just on the island but here on our property, is kind of a prime spot for watching the goings on around us.
The points raised are good to note, for sure! Here are a couple tidbits worth clarifying:
There are steps to the kitchen and in the hallway to the restroom. Both are visualized in the photos, if steps are a concern.
There are blinds on all windows but there are blackout curtains only on the large windows closest to the sleeper sofa. (Also seen in photos.). There are two windows on the kitchen end of the living space that have blinds but no black out curtains.
There is a street light that illuminates the pool area at night, primarily for safety reasons. The light does shine on this end of the building, thus the blackout curtains in the living space in this condo and others facing the same direction.
I will also mention to future guests that if you are bringing children or pets, please be aware that floor noise transfers downstairs to the condo below. It’s just something worth being mindful of.

the best location ever
This is the most convenient location we have ever stayed at. The unit was extremely clean! Here's the issues... The bed is hard. The couch is small and hard. There are numerous stairs throughout the unit. Upon our arrival 30 min early, we were ousted by Debbie Downer the housekeeper who said she had not done her inspection. However instead of just doing the inspection while we waited she locked the door and made us leave until 4 pm check in time? really? Also she locked the door with some of our belongings in the unit! Could have been handled so much easier for everyone... just sayin... because of this we will probably not stay here again.

The bed is a platform bed and is quite firm, which is preferred by some. It’s definitely worth noting that it is a queen size as well. Couch is a normal 3-cushion size - it isn’t a loveseat or futon. It is a sleeper though so it is firm to sit on - but it is generally comfortable.
The listing shows and describes the steps within the unit. Please take a closer look if this might be an issue.
Check in time is 4pm unless communicated otherwise. With some advance communication we are always willing to make an effort to be ready if a guest is arriving early but we appreciate some notice. The pre-arrival inspection simply allows us to double check that cleaning has been thorough and guests have what they should so we can minimize the need for them to contact us for things that should be there.7 Unfortunately the inspection cannot be done with ** two people and 2 dogs ** already in the unit, having arrived a full hour before check-in and letting themselves and all their luggage in.
We try to be as helpful as we can and we appreciate good communication over being cussed at for being asked to step out. (“We have to wait til 4 on a f**** Thursday?? I’ll remember this when I write my review.”) If a guest would like to check in early, we’re happy to make it happen if at all possible. The arrival information explains it all - just contact us and we’ll do our best.
That said, guests who intend to disregard the policies and procedures meant to make things smooth and easy for those who vacation here, should most definitely stay elsewhere.
The Ocean Inn has a great location. It is a great option because it is very nice, but it is well price in an expensive area. The other guests were polite and friendly and their children were well behaved.
This unit was so awesome! The foyer/ storage area made coming and going to beach so much easier! It also made the unit feel so much bigger! The porch was perfect for coffee and watching the kids in the pool!

My 2 kids slept wonderfully in the pull out couch!
We have stayed at the Ocean Inn for years and we have enjoyed it every single time! We will never stay anywhere else! The location is the greatest!

If I had to provide something that could be improved…it would be the bed in the master…it could use an upgrade but we did fine on it for 5 days 👍
My husband and I planned a trip to IOP last minute and this condo (dog friendly) was perfect with only a 4 minute walk to the beach! It was also close to a ton of restaurants and shops making our getaway stress free. Beth, the property manager, made the check in and out process as easy as possible. Would definitely recommend!
Condo was very nice and clean and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. Just loved the porch, talked with next door neighbors. The vacationers are always so friendly and we enjoy seeing one another's pets!! Beth is sooooo nice! Valentine and her dad are sweet!

The Ocean Inn is a small complex of 20 condos that features it’s own pool, free parking, and coined laundry. Just a few steps away from the bottom of the stairs to this SECOND FLOOR end unit is an outdoor seating area with a grill and picnic table. It’s common for the guests or families to congregate for happy hour and throw burgers on the grill. The pool is just a few steps from the bottom of the stairs and can be seen from the windows. When you open your front door, you might hear music coming from the waterfront area and you will definitely feel the beach breezes...but you will definitely appreciate being a half block away. (Staying ocean front isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be…sometimes beach hair DOES care!)
