Nestled into a hill on the banks of the Shenandoah River, this cabin was purpose-built for river-side vacations. You can relax and chat with friends in the screened-in porch or roast marshmallows around the nearby fire pit while listening to the river in the background. Stacked, dried firewood is available for you to use for a small fee. Inside, you'll find a fully-equipped kitchen that flows into the dining area and living room complete with satellite and cable TV and gas fireplace. From the cozy living area, you have a wonderful view of the yard and river through the beautiful window wall. Rest up from a day of enjoying the great outdoors in one of the three comfortable bedrooms or in a chair on the large deck overlooking the river. The cabin also features wood flooring and trim, cathedral ceiling in the living area, and tile floors in the modern, fully-furnished bathrooms. Outside, there's a gas grill for grilling hamburgers, a huge open yard and - did we mention? - right smack on the river so you can wade right out or take the canoes out in complete privacy.

It's a ok house with a beautiful water view
We have stayed in many homes on the Shenandoah river over the years. This is right on the river however you can't fish because the bank is too step and no dock. The firepit was great although you have to bring the wood from the wood stack which is a fairly long haul. Here are our thoughts.
We also thought it was tacky to leave "notes" around that you count the towels and if one is missing you will be charged. The batteries in both remotes were dead so we had to go into town and get batteries. The coffee pot was cracked but the man who takes care of property brought us a new one asap. Be prepared to haul trash with you or you will be charged $5/bag. Couch is ripped up and they put a cover over it. Time for new furniture. Take plenty of water. Tap water has a bad sulfur smell.
All and all its just a basic cabin. The ones we stayed in before were VERY nice. Well appointed, and cleaner. Just 4 peoples opinion. Oh and by the way, get rid of the TIP jar on the counter. My wife had to clean the toilet when we got there.
Beautiful River Front Views!
We had a great stay here! The cabin is really easy to get to (with no crazy steep mountains or rough dirt roads to worry about). It's really close to the river and even has an area where you can walk down to the water with one of their canoes. The screened-in porch is awesome, so even if you get rain, you can still enjoy being outside.
Overall the cabin was very clean. I didn't see any traces of pets or stains, so they do a great job with the cleaning. Another favorite of mine was the wide, jetted tub up in the loft bathroom (which was a surprise to me as they didn't even show pictures of it).
A few tips for if you're going to stay here:
- Bring plenty of your own drinking water (you probably don't want to drink the water there as it smells of sulfur).
- Bring lighter fluid or other fire starters for the fire pit (we forgot about this and had trouble keeping it lit with the ground being damp).
- There are stores only about 15 min away, so when we forgot something, the Walmart wasn't too far away! (We couldn't find a can opener, so we picked one up and left it there for others to use in the future).
The only thing I'll bring up is that the hot tub wasn't heating during our stay. Unfortunately, they needed to order a part for it, but they kindly gave us a partial refund without us asking, so I wasn't upset about it. They were very responsive!
Nice riverfront cabin
Very nice riverfront cabin, sound of running water from the river, decently private with some distance to another cabin visible across field, clean and well-maintained, etc. We used and enjoyed the firepit both nights, very nice to have firewood on site. No problems with Wi-Fi during our stay, although we had good weather.
The management was very professional with the booking process, reminders etc. -- much more so than other houses / cabins in the area. The possible tradeoff is that this cabin feels purpose-built for rentals; if you're looking for a slightly more "lived-in" place like somebody's second home then it's not quite that ambience.
Minor nits: some hot tub discoloration upon arrival, we needed to add water for it to filter properly and it therefore wasn't usable until second night -- when it was fine. No can opener in the kitchen. Took a tall person to make a ceiling fan light operate (just once, then fine). Could add a small bed table next to upstairs bed. No light downstairs near grill. These were all minor issues and none distracted from our overall enjoyment of the place, but we are mentioning them given the otherwise-professional presentation & expectations.
The House was clean, had a nice firepit, WiFi, a hot tub that worked, comfy beds, a nice deck, and lots of light in the living area. It was right on the river and pretty private (one other cabin across the field).
—the bedsheets were hot and gross (100% polyester)
—the WiFi was spotty at best (it rained a lot),
—there wasn’t enough toilet paper, dishwasher pods, paper towels or even laundrry detergent to last us even two days so we had to buy our own
— the hot tub wasn’t super clean when we got there but after three days it was unusable
—the river was very high when we were there (not the owners fault) but even so, there was no easy way to access the river so we didn’t use the kayaks (not enough life jackets) or even hang out by the river.
—the property is just a rental and so the kitchen is not well outfitted (sparse cooking utensils) or stocked (we had to buy salt and other basic spices)
—the bedrooms were stuffy (more fans needed) and not well lit and there was little to no soundproofing between rooms or the floor so sleeping in with early risers was a challenge.
In short, it was fine but not worth the price. This is just a money maker with little to no charm. We will look elsewhere for that next time around.
By the way, according to the tacky sign in the bathroom, they “count towels” (just in case you are someone in the habit of stealing inexpensive towels from your rentals!) For us, that sign epitomized the rental!
This reviewer is 'straining at gnats'. There is a normal central A/C system so more fans are not needed (simply turn up the A/C?). There is clear river access as the pictures demonstrate. We provide ample paper products (TP, paper towels, napkins and cleaning supplies) - far more than the average groups needs. We also pride ourselves on cleanliness. Hot tubs are cleaned between every booking and the water often changed. If any of these things were not the case, the guest could have called, night or day, and we would have rectified the situation immediately. We did not hear a word during their stay. Our many other reviews speak for themselves.
Beautiful and comfortable property at the edge of the river.
We had a great time fishing, tubing, and relaxing by the firepit each evening. In the heat of the day, the covered porch area with a ceiling fan was perfect to play some board games and hang out.
Truly relaxing!!! Awesome cabin.
What a great family vacation!! The cabin was beautiful and well appointed. The kids loved the hot tub. Already planning a return visit!!
