Downtown House. Easy walk to downtown restaurants, cafes and galleries. Not to brag, but this cottage is in a A+ location in Brevard and still has a feeling of privacy. House is completely updated and ready for your visit. My place is close to Downtown Brevard, the city center, parks, art and culture, restaurants and dining, National Forest and State Forest, Hiking, World Class Mountain Biking, Trout Fishing, Cool Stuff!. You’ll love my place because of Location, Coziness, Attention to detail. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.

About Mike Carrick

Mike Carrick, the broker-in-charge of Carrick Properties Inc, is a full-time licensed real estate professional in North and South Carolina, a licensed general contractor, and one of the top-selling real estate agents in the area. He is an eco-certified broker and, more importantly, the only Transylvania County, NC real estate broker who has built his own solar-powered home. Mike designed and built his off-the-grid home in Lake Toxaway using mainly refurbished materials with an eye for conservation and sustainability. Nestled on the mountainside, the sleek, airy home runs completely off solar panels, well water, a high-efficiency wood stove, and propane. When he’s not in his Main Street office in downtown Brevard, Mike can often be found hiking, fishing, canoeing, or surfing with his daughter Gracie. His wife Melanie and he love to travel and shop for special finds for the cottages and the Lingerlong Project has eaten up most of his free time but he has really grown to love planting in his garden and adding to the overall landscape plan on the property. Lingerlong is a 5 house project and Melanie and Mike live on sight. Mike loves living the dream in Western North Carolina.

Why Mike Carrick chose Brevard

This house and Lingerlong property in general was one of the areas first "short term" rental type places and a lot of locals think it used to be a camp but the family that Mike bought it from was the original owners and after many years of neglect Mike started a major renovation on all building and lives on sight and has 2 short term rentals that are both updated and full of character and charm and attention to detail and true craftsmanship shows throughout the property, even thou we consider it a work in progress we have come a long way in a short amount of time. The location is very private feeling yet right off of main street and has lots of wildlife from 2 resident hawks, white squirrels, rabbits, lots of birds and small stream with fish that runs through the property. Not to brag but this place is a small piece of paradise and most people that have stayed here have said, "they don't want to leave'.

Transylvania county is approximately 80%+ owned by either National Forest or State Forest. The Blue Ridge Parkway is located at the top of the mountain range surrounding Brevard. Miles and miles of some of the best if not the best mountain biking and hiking, fishing water fall sight seeing with over 250 waterfalls, we have been named Land of the Waterfalls for a reason and basically have become the Mountain & Road Bike Capital of the East Coast, seriously! I could go on and on about our Arts, Live Music scene, genuine shops and local minded restaurants and basic town that is full of happy people that are proud to be where they are doing what they do. I enjoy being a host as most everyone on vacation is looking to have a good time and relax and I try my best to make sure that is a easy thing to accomplish with lots of local maps and brochures and our chamber of commerce is .3 miles, walking distance from our Cottage and House and they are also ready to help fill your days with adventure and excitement!

Perfect!

Four of us spent two nights here on a hiking weekend. The house was a perfect place to come back to. It was very clean, inviting, and cozy. We loved the furnishings, and the beds were very comfortable. We all love older homes with character and this had plenty but was current with top end appliances and special touches. It is an easy walk to downtown but tucked back off the road and feels very private. Lots of supplies were provided and I can't think of a single thing I would change. Top notch!

Wonderful weekend trip

We stayed in this cute house for a weekend and it was perfect. The 4 of us and our dogs felt this was great home base for a weekend of hiking and beer tastings. The house is great! The furniture is all very comfortable and the kitchen is fully functional and modern with everything you need. We particularly enjoyed coffee on the front porch in the mornings. The extra touches like a basket of blankets, Bluetooth music player and board games put the cherry on top for our weekend. We will definitely be back!

great location and comfy cabin

This beautifully-restored cabin is a 20 minute walk from downtown Brevard and offers lots of nearby walking opportunities (e.g. Silvermont Mansion). We loved the screen porch and quiet setting yet so close to town. The kitchen was very well-equiped & laundry facilities quite handy. The 2nd floor bathroom is problematic: my sister repeatedly bumped her head at the sink and found it impossible to take a bath... difficult to climb in and out of the claw foot tub & showering didn't work due to lack of headroom. So 2nd floor guests will likely need to shower downstairs. The downstairs bedroom is quite tight with perhaps a foot on either side of the bed, but manageable. The cabin was quite clean and nicely finished. Seating in dining room, living room & porch accommodated 4-5 people. We appreciated that the owner is gradually restoring several old cabins on the property, nicely sited and set back from the street with nice landscaping.

Incredible!

Our month here could not have been better. The house is absolutely adorable with wonderful details in every corner. Mike has taken care of everything. He was available and accommodating with answers to all our questions about the area and property. We would highly recommend staying here if you are in the Brevard area. Walking distance on sidewalks to downtown and 10 minutes to the trailheads.

Great Place

Well decorated house and good layout for our family. We would definitely stay here again.

The only issue was the water pressure was too low to use both bathrooms concurrently. Took a while for 5 people.

Owner's Response: Sorry the water pressure wasn't great for 2 people at same time. Attention all future renters...our house may not be that great at 2 people taking showers and flushing toilets at same time!
