About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath With Mountain Views.

Views. Privacy. Convenience. This three bedroom, two bath 1200 square foot cabin sits on about 5 acres of mountaintop privacy.

The incredible view from the porch is that of the mountains around Mt. Pisgah, the Blue Ridge Parkway winding across the ridgeline, and the uninhabited Pisgah National Forest. Watching the sunrise in the morning from the front porch, with the smoky fog lingering in the lower valley, guests get the sense that they are "Among the Clouds". It is truly a amazing way to begin the day.

The cabin is located in Candler, NC off Hwy 151, a road that winds it's way up and connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is conveniently located seven miles from Smoky Park Hwy, which is developed with all the needs a guest may need.

Downtown Asheville, with endless dining, shopping, and entertainment is only 25 minutes away.

Among the Clouds Cabin is reached after driving through a forest of rhododendron and up the steep mountain. There is a large front porch with rocking chairs and a six person hot tub to relax in and soak up the view. There is a fire pit, picnic table, and a charcoal grill located just off the porch.

Among the Clouds Cabin is fully furnished with all modern appliances, including washer and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped, and all bed linens and towels are provided.

The cabin was renovated in 2015, there are wood floors throughout, granite countertops, and a stone gas fireplace. It is bright and airy with vaulted ceilings, and a "bear, cozy cabin and fishing lodge theme décor throughout.

There is a steep climb up the mountain to get the views! 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive vehicles make it up without a problem. It is really exciting the first time you drive up!

Of course snow/ice will impact the ability of any vehicle. If the driveway becomes too slippery to drive up, you will have to park at the bottom and walk up. It is about 1/2 mile and about a 45% incline. If you are considering reserving in the winter months, please understand that it is possible you may have to park at the bottom and walk up during inclement weather.

About Shelly Hawk

When I was growing up in SE Ohio, people used to asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I would respond with "A New Yorker!". When I got to NYC after college, I found myself looking for a way back home. After raising our family in Princeton, NJ my husband, Sean and I decided to move to Asheville. I feel like I am home again. The mountains, the city and the people drew us to this special place and we are looking forward to letting our roots grow deep here.

We enjoy all that is just outside our door in downtown Asheville; the great restaurants, craft breweries, and meeting new people. Kayaking, hiking and outdoor adventures are often on our itinerary.

Shelly Hawk purchased this house in 2016

Why Shelly Hawk chose Candler

The view captured us!! The moment we took in the view we knew this property was special. Sean and I have been looking at real estate in the Asheville area for 10 years and after recently moving into a condo in downtown Asheville, we spotted this property for sale. We took a short drive and fell in love... with the house, so well maintained and meticalously cared for, the spa, privacy, outdoors fire pit and of course the view! We are excited to have the opportunity to share it all with you.

What makes this house unique

VIEWS! VIEWS! VIEWS! The views from this cabin are incredible! You will constantly be saying "Look at that view!" It is also very CONVENIENT and close to Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mt. Pisgah. It is a PRIVATE piece of paradise.

Breathtaking and immaculate!

  • 5 of 5

This home has a beautiful view from the front porch and the photos don't do it justice! Every detail to make your stay comfortable has been thought of and the owner is very accessible and motivated to make your stay worth every penny. The decor is all new and the theme is just what you expect for a mountside dwelling, very tasteful and classy. Enjoy this beauty "Among The Clouds"!

Beautiful and Immaculate!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first experience renting a cabin (we had a travel trailer for the past 18 years). I have to say that it could not have been better. The cabin was absolutely beautiful, the beds were comfortable and it was clean, clean, clean! Since we are used to traveling in our own little house on wheels, the confidence that the cabin was well-maintained and thoroughly cleaned was very important to us. The communication with Shelly was immediate and she made sure that our every need was met. The details of the rental property, right down to a brand new kitchen sponge still in its package, made us feel comfortable and right at home. The setting of the cabin is so private (which we absolutely loved), yet still close to town and the Blue Ridge Parkway, made it the perfect location for us. The view from the front porch was breathtaking, especially while relaxing in the hot tub. I highly recommend both Shelly and Among the Clouds Cabin.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This wonderful cabin did not disappoint. It is the perfect spot to unwind and take in the beautiful scenery while visiting the Asheville area. The cabin is secluded, yet close to Candler (groceries and etc) and the Blue Ridge Parkway. This quiet retreat had all the amenities we needed, including a coffee maker, washer and dryer, hot tub and fire pit.

Shelly answered all of our questions, before and during our stay.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. =)

3 Days of relaxation after our wedding

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to relax as sort of a mini honeymoon after getting married in Asheville. We had our two dogs with us so it was nice to have a pet friendly option. The cabin is close to Asheville (15-20 minutes) but feels like it is in the middle of no where. It is well appointed with everything you need and very clean. My only critique about the amenities is that the skillets are quite beat up making it difficult to cook eggs in the morning. The bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed the gas fireplace and the hot tub. The best part of the cabin is the view! It can't be beat! It rained for much of our stay and that added a whole other element of fun to getting up the driveway which I liked. I used 4 wheel drive the first time but then tried it in 2 wheel drive the 2nd time and my truck still made it up easily despite the heavy rain. Part of the drive up goes through a really cool rhododendron forest that forms a canopy over the road!
