About the property

Spacious Getaway with Incredible Views

Designed for togetherness while being mindful of the occasional desire for privacy, this incredible home was built to host mega-crowds in comfort and with ease. As you enter the home you are greeted by big mountain and long water views from the spacious lodge style great room. Warm and inviting, the 3-story room features a vaulted ceiling with exposed trusses, a masonry stone fireplace with gas logs, oak flooring and pine paneled walls. A wall of French doors leads to a spacious lakeside screened porch that runs the length of the home with an area for rocking chairs, dining and an outdoor living room with a river stone, wood burning fireplace. The private and peaceful space frames jaw dropping mountain views, providing the perfect spot for relaxing by the water. The porch is conveniently equipped with hurricane shutters to keep out pollen, wind and rain when the home is not in use.

The great room includes dining for 10+ and an open kitchen equipped with a breakfast bar island, double oven, under counter ice maker, 5 burner gas cooktop, built in microwave, Bosch dishwasher and walk-in pantry. Around the corner is a dry bar, laundry room with sink and entry to the 2 car garage. A half bath and coat closet are located off the foyer.

The private master bedroom is located off the great room offering lake and mountain views. The spacious master bath features a double vanity, separate water closet, air-jetted tub, separate tiled shower with seamless glass door and a generous walk-in closet.

Enjoy working from the main floor study equipped with a stone fireplace, full bath and French doors that lead out to the lakeside screened porch.

Finishing off the main floor is a guest bedroom with pickled pine walls and a private bathroom with tiled bath/shower combo.

Located upstairs is a large lofted game room/living room that overlooks the great room with windows providing lake and mountain views. This is a great space for reading or playing board games. Also located upstairs are four guest bedrooms, each with pine paneled walls, ample closet space and private bathrooms with tiled shower/tub combos. Two of the bedrooms feature lake views and closets large enough to house a crib. One of the bedrooms features access to a large, unfinished storage room above the garage.

The terrace level features a bright and open family room with a stone fireplace, built-in media cabinet, whitewashed pine paneling, coffered ceiling and French doors leading to a covered stone terrace. The family room opens to a dining space and 2nd kitchen equipped with granite countertops, an island with breakfast bar, Bosch dishwasher, Kitchen-aid warming drawer, Amana refrigerator/freezer combo and under counter ice maker. A half bath is located off the kitchen area. A spacious bonus room currently houses a ping pong table but would make a great exercise room. Completing the terrace level are 2 guest bedrooms, both with private bathrooms featuring tiled shower/bath combos.

The 2-story boathouse showcases one of the best views on Lake Burton. The boathouse is tucked away from main-body boat traffic providing a protected swimming area.

This home truly has it all! Once you see it you won’t be able to leave!

Huge house, small feel

  • 5 of 5

We had 19 family members there for our annual summer vacation and it was just perfect. There was plenty of room for everyone to gather and also for people to find quiet space for some alone time. The location on the lake is ideal with great views and a nice cove. House was clean and well equipped. A week to remember!

Memorable Experience

  • 5 of 5

Dear Jeff, I want to express mine and our whole groups feelings regarding our Reunion at your home on Lake Burton. Our experience was a total success. You home is first class in all aspects. The location on Lake Burton, the views from the porch and the fantastic great room made our stay wonderful. We were able to seat all 14 of us around the dining room table by moving the table in the hallway leading to the garage and bringing chairs from downstairs. This meant that everyone could sit, eat, drink and enjoy the evening meal as well as allow the people preparing, serving and cleaning up the opportunity to be part of the group.

The weather was a not perfect, but all but one spell of rain took place in the evening so it did not interfere with our activities. We rented a pontoon boat for three days, which provided some nice leisurely cruising around the lake. Two of our female guests have health issues that require them to use walkers. The fact that that there are two bedrooms on the main level meant their up and down steps were kept to a minimum. As you would imagine getting down to the dock was an impossibility. But we solved this issue by taking the pontoon boat up to Parades (sp?) Marina and met them there. In this way they were almost on a flat level. It cut down some of our cruising time but they are part of our "family".

Some of the group traveled to see one or more of the water falls, I think Taligulo? We tried to bring all our food to the house when we arrived after shopping in Clayton. But we did require two additional trips back to town. As you know the area is a bit remote. We lost power in the middle of the night one night when a tree fell across Wildflower Lane. I was worried that we might not get power back for a long time but it was only 3 hours till they sawed the tree down and power was back on at 7 AM.

We had one unexpected visitor; a black bear wondered into the area behind the house. As far as I could determine he never tried to get into the garbage in the garage. His visit was enjoyed at a distance by everyone at the house.

Additionally, several of our group used the canoe to try their hand at fishing. They caught a few fish and had some stories to share.

The northerners in our group enjoyed diving off your dock and the refreshing lake waters.

What a wonderful home and lake location to enjoy a Reunion with my Lehigh University fraternity brothers of class of 1965 and their spouses.

Great for large groups.

I loved the property. The views of Lake Burton were amazing. The house could have used a little more attention to detail. Owner did not respond to my phone call or text during my stay.

Beautiful home and property

The house is beautifully done and feels homey and comfortable. We had a family of 18 staying - accommodations ample, and plenty of room to spread out. Especially enjoyed the covered porch and huge fireplace. Thanks for opening your home -we would book it again!
