About Christina Sidoti
I am a chef and a designer with a great passion for a great many things! From baking cakes and cooking for family, friends and clients to finding properties that need attention and renovating, restoring and designing beautiful cozy welcoming homes. I care deeply about our environment and children and animals. I adore my little family. I am a grandmother, I practice yoga (I have Yoga mats and props for 2 here!) I have found that I have a real gift of hospitality and I love entertaining and making our guests very cozy and welcome. I am a perfectionist and am detail oriented, so making my guests stay incredible and assisting in travel arrangements, reservations, recommendations from massages after a long day walking to where to eat or where to go for a run is my pleasure. I love all seasons, they have something to offer. I am politically active, I am a passionate person and I love all things aesthetically pleasing. We have loved renting our other home and have had extraordinary experiences and we are excited by the opportunity to show our guests our favorite place in New York...Astoria Queens where I spent many of my childhood years.

Why Christina Sidoti chose Queens
Oh this property has magic! There is no obstruction of light from the back to the front of the house which is unusual in an urban area. The back of the house has a small urban garden and gate (alley beyond) with low rise homes around so the sun streams in! The front faces the Hellgate bridge. I have loved restoring this old home. This was the sight of the housing for Steinway Piano company and these homes were built in the 1920's. I left the facade the same but the interior was completely gutted to make way for a bright and modern space, decorated in a mixed aesthetic. Everything is sparkling new and lovely. I chose this home when looking to buy last year because of the light, the proximity to the subway and the park, the ease to walk to restaurants and local bars, and there is wonderful food shopping. And, of course the easy ten minute drive into Manhattan and the five minute drive to La Guardia airport. I love it here.
What makes this Townhome unique
I fell in love with this home and area because it still has the feeling of old worldliness. As I walk up the streets I see grape vines, basil and tomato plants growing from even the smallest patch of green. In Summer there are roses in every garden! We use Astoria Park daily, playing tennis, or running on the track, or just hanging out on the great lawn watching the sunset over the NYC skyline - it's all wonderful. The new Astoria Ferry landing brings us to Manhattan in 20 minutes passing under the great bridges and costs $2.75 and from lower manhattan we transfer to the ferries out to the NYC Beaches! This home is centrally located to access the airports, Long Island, Westchester, Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey! The water front is wonderful to enjoy, and there is no shortage of wonderful things to do! We have a swing in the front garden to watch the sunsets over the Hellgate Bridge. The kitchen has a sliding door onto a deck where you can have breakfast and plan your days activities. There is a garden with herbs growing for your meals. We have a custom extra long sofa to curl up on after a long day. The master en suite shower is like a spa. We have the finest linens and towels to make you feel special and cozy. The floors in the house were brought in from Maine and are made of red birch, milled for us and finished with natural oil. We used only non VOC finishes in our home to keep this space clean and pure. There are A/C split systems in each room for custom comfort. This home and this neighborhood are deeply connected to the hustle and bustle and excitement of New York City but it feels like a little hamlet tucked away that after long days has a pleasant and elegant warmth to come home to. Every comfort has been arranged, and there is a local housekeeper that can come in if needed. Let me know if you have any further questions. If you need to house more people you can look up Property 1441280 as we have now opened up a lovely studio apartment

Great location, good accommodation, poor communication
While this was a great Queens location from which to explore all of NYC, and the accommodation was large enough for 2 couples to share, we were disappointed by the lack of communication from the owner, which resulted in us not being able to gain access to the unit, by the disruptive noise from upstairs (kids racing and jumping at 6am), and by the inadequate provisioning of the unit, which we rented for 10 days. This includes no hair dryer, inadequate toilet paper, lack of kitchen paper towels, no sealed soap, and inadequate basic kitchen provisions like black pepper, sweetener, sauces etc. Overall a decent experience.
Dear Penny, It has taken me a while to wrap my head around your review which of course to us is quite devastating, we all use these reviews to determine where we should stay on our often special and infrequent holidays. We have always prided ourselves in outstanding hospitality in an apartment that is magnificent, I as a chef have a fully stocked spice drawer, sweeteners and an impeccable kitchen. The blowdryer which you are referring was one missing from the second bathroom, we got the second one to you immediately upon hearing I told my housekeeper to keep a bette eye. We had sent a welcome email to you with access and I had the phone in my hand that when you were at the door I answered it and made sure you had access. We always leave two rolls of toilet paper and one paper towels (we leave loads of dish towels so that we use less paper waste we give this all a lot of thought) I will tell my housekeeper in the future to leave more toilet paper for guests with longer stays, I apologize for this oversight. We are not a hotel so sealed soap we had done so in the early days but found that guests have their own preferred (again we gave this a lot of thought we were discarding so much waste and we are attempting to be thoughtful about this, I will think of bette solutions, perhaps I will acquire glass pump bottles of soaps, we do that in the powder rooms...what I feel most awful about is while you were here there were children visiting above and they did patter about too early after discussing this with the renter I have told them no more children and this will NOT happen again. May I offer you a gift of some kind to make that up to you? Please text me and I'll send you a note with apology about that or if you want to come back we can have the items you like and I'd offer some kind of discount? ? Let me know I take such pride in our place and in making our lovely guests as happy as possible! ....Wamly and wishing you a lovely Winter, Christina
Relaxing and convenient
We very much enjoyed our time in Astoria. Thank you to our ferry companions for the local dining recommendations. Easy MTA transportation to both Manhattan and the US Open. Would definitely stay at this property again!
Thank you fo taking the time to write this lovely note to us! We hope to see you again! Happy Winter!
We love this beautiful house!
My family and I absolutely loved staying in this wonderful home. Everything was so clean and comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need to make your meals in, or there are many great restaurants within walking distance of the house. It is a wonderful and beautiful place to stay!
The owner Christina was extremely nice and helpful during the entire process of renting, checking in, and staying at her property. If we ever come back to NYC, we would definitely stay here again!
Wow. I cannot believe how quickly you wrote the review. You guys rock! Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you again!!!
Thank you for a lovely stay
Exceeded our expectations!
Great family home for NYC trip
The property is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood in Queens which was very important to us with 3 children. It was about 10-15 min walk to the subway which took us directly to Manhattan and even coming back late at night felt very safe.
Christine was extremely accommodating for us after another property owner left us in the lurch with just 2 weeks before our departure but she did everything possible to adapt her schedule so we could stay at the property for our weeks trip to NY and made us feel very welcome and was able to help whenever we needed it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property for its location, style and space and a very responsive and caring owner to go with it. Thanks Christine
I am sorry it took me too long to respond to your lovely review Dan. It was my pleasure to help make this trip work for you, I know it was so stressful for you in advance of this stay! Warmest regards, Christina
Wonderful updated property in Astoria, Queens
This is a wonderful property in a beautiful area of Astoria, Queens. The house is very tastefully decorated. Christina was excellent to work with and very responsive to our needs. Close to the subway, excellent restaurants, and in a safe and quiet area. We had a wonderful time.
Awwwww...what a lovely review...I was so happy to accommodate you and your family at our place. Wishing you a lovely summer :) Christina
Oh where or where to begin to tell you about Astoria! It feels like "the little city that time forgot" within New York City! Astoria and Queens has more cross section of international representation than any city in the world! And our food and culture prove this. It is almost impossible not to gain weight here unless you walk everywhere which we love to do. Astoria Park is delightful for morning and evening walks, the sunsets are spectacular over the river and New York City proper. Everything imaginable is possible here. From hoping on our local subway (this one is above ground which is delightful for views!) and then enjoying Manhattan and Brooklyn and all that is offered, then returning to Astoria and LIC for the wonderful galleries, museums and of course restaurants. Our Greek and other ethnic food offerings are amazing.
