The ranch is a one of a kind property being situated only 6 miles from Ridgway, 16 miles from Ouray and a short 37 miles to Telluride. The Uncompaghre River runs through the town of Ridgway and flows into the Ridgway State Park and Reservoir, to the north. Dallas Creek supplies the ranch's irrigation water and borders the ranch to the North. It flows from the south west and forms a confluence with the Uncompahgre before entering the reservoir. There is a notable wildlife presence in the valley and surrounding areas- mountain lions, badgers, deer, elk, bears, coyotes, wild turkey, bald eagles and golden eagles are indigenous to the area. The regions bald eagles nest in the cottonwoods along the Uncompaghre river as well as in the trees behind the main house on the ranch and are a common sight in the late fall.
