Fantastic vacation home
Truly a unique home. The views are ridiculous. My kids and dogs loved hiking directly in back of the house-trails for miles that are gorgeous. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds and a nice kitchen. We enjoyed building a fire at night and relaxing. Great place. Driveway is super long and steep but we had no issues.
Great views, not much greenspace outside
Views were amazing, but house was not great for active dogs. Hiking trails were in the back yard, and we loved them, we just needed a bit more flat green space. The Kitchen could use an overhead light. You do need a 4WD vehicle to get up to the house.
This is a 3 story house which is beautiful, but beware you have 3 sets of stairs to climb up and down everyday, several times. On the top floor is this beautiful room with unbelievable views. It has a small TV on the wall, a huge sectional, very nice recliners, a small bar setup with refrigerator. Not a lot of light once it gets dark. The middle floor has a beautiful master bedroom with one water closet, and another full bath including a claw tub, shower, sink and water closet. The bed frame and the armoir were gorgeous. The bed was very comfortable. Outside the bedroom is a sitting room with a TV, comfortable couch, and fireplace. There are also two double doors which go out to the deck. Again, once it gets dark there is not much lighting. On the first floor is the kitchen, another bedroom and bath. We are cooks and did not find the kitchen sufficiently stocked, and not well lite at all. Cooking after dusk didn't work, but that is just us. For other people I'm sure it is fine. The entire house is surrounded in windows which was awesome. We did run into some trouble. The day we arrived we had no water only to find out the filter had been changed, and the water was just not turned back on, not a big deal, we found the switch and turned it back on, but on Monday we found again we had no water. Called Cathy and she had her maintenance guy come out. It was the well pump, well that was a problem. Cathy jumped into immediate action and offered us her own rental for the remainder of the week as she did not know how long it would take to have the pump fixed. We moved on Tuesday and enjoyed the remainder of our vacation in another house. Don't fool yourself if you think you don't need a 4-wheel drive to get up the mountain road to the house. YES YOU DO!
Overall, the house is very unique, but definitely not for us. Because we are older the stairs really didn't work well for us, and our two little dogs. If you are interested in renting this house by all means do. The whole week was a fluke for us, and we definitely would not deter anyone from renting it. The uniqueness and the views make the whole house. Just remember your 4-wheel drive!
This was an absolutely perfect getaway. The views are stunning, hiking trails are right outside of the home, and it is close enough to everything you need. You do need a 4wd to get up the steep road, but it is very well maintained. Ill be coming back, 100 percent.
The house was perfect! Three decks for a panoramic breathtaking view! At first hesitant due to the 4 wheel drive necessity- it was well worth it! We had our own isolated mountaintop vacation home. The kids even found a shortcut path from the house to the driveway. And the drive to Asheville, Lake Lure, Dupont Forest, Hendersonville - all doable and easy! There is even a grocery store not too far down from the mountain. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable. Tons of living space and deck space to accommodate all. And don't even think about the no air conditioning - we were more than comfortable with the large fans supplied for the daytime hours. And the evenings were so nice we didn't even need the fans! Cathy was the perfect host. We hope to return. My eldest son's quote from the first night: "here that?" what? "exactly!" Like my kids said - EPIC!
It is just ine wonderful place.
We just had a great experience in abd aroubd this area. We loved each and every minute of our vacation. Great hiking place. It was total fun.
