Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Hale Huna('Hidden House')is a wonderful cottage on a hillside near the 'end of the road' on North Kauai. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac with only a few other local houses. Very private and peaceful (It is NOT on/near the highway like many Kauai rentals). Perfect for a meditative getaway or honeymoon cottage. Healing and restful.

Beautiful views of green mountains from backyard. Lush plant life, including mango, banana, grapefruit, avocado, papaya and lime trees. Outdoor shower sheltered by bamboo bushes. This is a small but charming and tastefully furnished plantation-style cottage with the feel of 'real' Hawaii. Within five minutes drive of gorgeous sandy beaches, incredible snorkeling at Tunnels, Ke'e and Lumahai Beaches and world class surf at Hanalei Bay.

The closest town is charming Hanalei, which has restaurants, a grocery store, a health food store, shops, bars and more. Hanalei Bay is famous for its large crescent beach, winter surfing and calm summer waters. The stunning Na Pali Coast is just minutes away (the mountains seen from the backyard are the back of the Pali's/Mountains).

The North Shore of Kauai is known for its lush, tropical, rainforest-like climate and vegetation and low key lifestyle. It's a fantastic place to relax, read, swim, hike, surf, snorkel, eat fresh fish and my favorite, just walking on the beach looking for shells.

About Kristi Ferraro

We are a family of 4, who live in Avon, Colorado. We feel so blessed to be able to enjoy the contrasting beauty of the Colorado mountains and the tropics of Kauai. Our two sons feel pretty lucky that they get to ski at home and play in the ocean in Kauai.

Kristi Ferraro purchased this house in 2007

Why Kristi Ferraro chose Hanalei

We always found ourselves being drawn back to the North Shore of Kauai, so we decided to take the plunge and buy a place. We couldn't believe that we found such a cute, vintage cottage. It truly feels like the Kauai I remembered from my first visit as a young kid in 1971.

What makes this house unique

We love eating the fruit from our yard and getting to know our local neighbors. We spend almost every day at the beach. We can hardly believe that some of the most dazzling places in the world are just a few miles from our cottage: Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, the Napali coast, Ke'e Beach, the Kalalau Trail and Lumahai Beach.

AMAZING secret hideaway!

I wouldn't stay anywhere else on this beautiful, magical, perfect island paradise. We are counting the days until we can someday return. The cottage is wonderful in every way.

Hawaii n the monsoon season.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is cute, clean and stocked with basics. During our stay it rained every day, and the gutter system could use some downspouts or rain chains because the water poured into pits in the ground just outside the bedroom window. Noisy. We loved all the bird song and the well tended landscaping. The parking spot flooded quickly. It got cold at night; duvets or space heaters would have been welcome. How does one turn on the lights at the gate? It’s dark! Nice dark! Lots of stars! We had a lovely time in this sweet cottage.

Paradise on North Shore

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful Hawaiian cottage on the north shore. The cottage is tastefully decorated with authentic art, driftwood and shells. Romantic lighting gives the place a magical quality. Very private with tropical foliage surrounding the property. Nicest VRBO we have ever stayed at. We never wanted to leave but we will be back.

Enchanting jungly north shore cottage

  • 5 of 5

Very charming semi-secluded cottage in great location. Close to stunning north shore beaches. We loved the grapefruits from the tree on the property - best we've ever had. The interior was equally charming and was clean and comfortable with everything required.

Absolute gem, totally blown away

  • 5 of 5

We can't wait to come back! Beautiful and quiet, had everything we needed. This is the best rental we have had and totally lucked out. We had never been to Kauai before and new we wanted something quiet and away from the tourism spots. This was it! After checking out other spots on the island, we just kept wanting to come back to just hang out near the house. Great hiking and adventure spots near by. Next time we will mostly stay on the North Shore only and will definitely be trying to book this house again. Much thanks to the hosts!
