Hale Huna('Hidden House')is a wonderful cottage on a hillside near the 'end of the road' on North Kauai. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac with only a few other local houses. Very private and peaceful (It is NOT on/near the highway like many Kauai rentals). Perfect for a meditative getaway or honeymoon cottage. Healing and restful.
Beautiful views of green mountains from backyard. Lush plant life, including mango, banana, grapefruit, avocado, papaya and lime trees. Outdoor shower sheltered by bamboo bushes. This is a small but charming and tastefully furnished plantation-style cottage with the feel of 'real' Hawaii. Within five minutes drive of gorgeous sandy beaches, incredible snorkeling at Tunnels, Ke'e and Lumahai Beaches and world class surf at Hanalei Bay.
The closest town is charming Hanalei, which has restaurants, a grocery store, a health food store, shops, bars and more. Hanalei Bay is famous for its large crescent beach, winter surfing and calm summer waters. The stunning Na Pali Coast is just minutes away (the mountains seen from the backyard are the back of the Pali's/Mountains).
The North Shore of Kauai is known for its lush, tropical, rainforest-like climate and vegetation and low key lifestyle. It's a fantastic place to relax, read, swim, hike, surf, snorkel, eat fresh fish and my favorite, just walking on the beach looking for shells.
We are a family of 4, who live in Avon, Colorado. We feel so blessed to be able to enjoy the contrasting beauty of the Colorado mountains and the tropics of Kauai. Our two sons feel pretty lucky that they get to ski at home and play in the ocean in Kauai.
Kristi Ferraro purchased this house in 2007
We always found ourselves being drawn back to the North Shore of Kauai, so we decided to take the plunge and buy a place. We couldn't believe that we found such a cute, vintage cottage. It truly feels like the Kauai I remembered from my first visit as a young kid in 1971.
We love eating the fruit from our yard and getting to know our local neighbors. We spend almost every day at the beach. We can hardly believe that some of the most dazzling places in the world are just a few miles from our cottage: Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, the Napali coast, Ke'e Beach, the Kalalau Trail and Lumahai Beach.
We stayed at Kristi's place for 5 nights and loved it. Great location. Comfortable, clean, stylish, private home with everything you need.
Highly recommended. Will definitely be back. THANKS!
We are so thankful to have been able to stay in such a beautiful home. Everything was so clean, so simple and elegant, and the location was fab. It was near the Napoli Coast, great hiking, beaches were all over this side. There was a 5-10 drive to town, which was beautiful and allowed for a get away vibe. Fresh fruit in the garden, hot water, incredible internet, and all the amenities needed. Highly recommended this stay :)
We stayed at Hale Huna with my cousin and her family for a week and loved it. It was very comfortable for 4 adults and two small children. We loved the feel of the place and the location. It had a lovely garden, a fully stocked kitchen and it was very private and quiet. Really good sushi place down the street and very close to Tunnels beach and the Napali trailhead. Loved it. Thank you for a great stay!
We absolutely loved our ten days stay at Hale Huna. It was so cozy and perfect for our family with everything we needed. We could tell there's so much love and care put in to it with lots of unique touches. The house has lots of windows overlooking lush landscaping, feels airy and bright and gives you an authentic island feel. There was a little convenient store at the corner of the street where we bought some fresh fruits and a decent sushi pick up where we ate a couple of times when we had no time to cook or make a 12 minute drive to hanalei bay for many good restaurants or food trucks. We fell in love with kauai for many many reasons and staying at Hale Huna was one of them. It was hard to say goodbye :(
Also Kristi was so accommodating and prompt in communication which added to the overall lovely and pleasant experience.
I would highly recommend that anyone looking to get away to the wonders of Kauai's North Shore take advantage of staying at Hale Huna. My trip was planned last minute but Kristi was generously accommodating in the arrangements. The cottage itself is perfect--tastefully decorated, spacious, well appointed, and calming. I was concerned that it was too remote but my fears were completely ungrounded. There were splendid beaches just minutes away and getting to town was easy.
The cottage was peaceful without being isolated. Comfortable without being precious. Clean without being restrictive. And instantly relaxing with no stress in the arrangements.
I will certainly look to stay there again. A great experience all around. If you are researching places to stay, and this cottage is available. Stop looking and book. It is exactly what you are looking for. You won't regret it.
Hale Huna truly is a dream vacation rental home...it is both comfortable and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities we needed in the home, kitchen and for the beach. The grounds were lush and beautiful, so coffee and meals were often taken out on the back porch. The outdoor shower quickly became a favorite daily ritual! With Ke'e beach and Tunnels beach 10-15 minutes in one direction and the town of Hanalei just 15 minutes in the other direction, the location was perfect for us. We loved every minute of our stay at Hale Huna, and will most certainly be back for another getaway!
