A very private forest retreat located on beautiful Bartlett Springs Mountain in Nice, Lake County, California. Two story, one bedroom, one bath, hand crafted log Chalet style cabin with covered porch and upper deck, nestled in majestic timbers on seven acres. The antique wood/propane cook stove circa 1915 and full kitchen will delight you, as well as the 17 big beautiful Pella windows.Warm earthen tones set the decor. California King pillow top Englander bed. Breathtaking lake and valley views and undescribable sunsets. The cabin is surrounded by forest, off grid and very, very private!!!! Built by Rob Varey, Canada's leading authority on vertical log building and named one of the top 100 builders in North America. A Four Seasons Wailea trained manager is to be your host. Enjoy our breathtaking and very QUIET storybook setting. Refresh your soul in the Jaccuzzi whirl pool tub for two which fills with hot mountain mineral spring water. Time to relax and get back to the earth. Romantic-Romantic-Romantic!!! Bring your adventurous heart and prepare to unwind. The property has a caretaker who is at your service.



You are only 5 miles away from Clear Lake.(California's largest natural lake) Also fine wine tasting at Ceago Winery, Brassfield Estate High Valley and Tulip Hill Winery. It is 10 miles to Indian Valley where some of California's largest wild Brown Trout play. Pinnacle Rock is 2.3 miles away.

Drive North on Highway 101, 5 miles past Ukiah, CA to 20 East Lake County. You will pass Lake Mendocino and Blue Lakes, Upper Lake then Nice. Just past Nice is Tulip Hill Winery (ON YOUR LEFT) just before Ceago Winery. Turn left onto Bartlett Springs road at Tulip Hill Winery. 5.1 miles (set your odometer) up the mountain and you will be there.The cabin is on the left. There is a big sign and you can see the cabin from the road.

    Ken, We had a wonderful, relaxing siesta. Celebrating our honeymoon here was the best decision we made. This home is great! We believe no changes need to be made, because it's unique character gives your stay and ours such a genuine feel. The colors in the room and outdoor trees gave this home such comfort. You have done a magnificent job. Roy was a fantastic aide. He was very kindand took care of all our needs. We didn't see him too often, but when we did he was always making sure we were okay. CEAGO Vineyard is absolutely a great place to wine taste and take memorable pictures. The local expresso coffee shop was also very homy and delicious. We didn't see sinbad but hope to return soon. Thank you for making our stay a memory not to be forgotten! P.S. We left some candles for your next guest!

  • My partner and I had a chance to spend a week at Precious Forest earlier this summer. We were looking for an affordable, pet-friendly getaway that was something more than a camping site but less than an expensive B&B. We stumbled upon Precious Forest and we're glad we did. While I would classify it as a "work in progress" for the time that we were there, it still offered a lot for an extremely reasonable rate. The cabin is modern but rustic. While there is some electricity available, trust us - just go rustic. Buy some ice blocks at the local store, load up the large coolers on the front porch, use the kerosene lanterns for lighting, and enjoy the serene surroundings. The upstairs balcony was a great place to have dinner while the sun set and the perfect place to put our dog's bed. Shaft (our dog) loved sleeping outdoors and keeping watch. Summer-wise, it's just a short drive to the Blue Lakes for swimming and, of course, you're staying in the middle of the Mendocino National Forest so there are plenty of places to go hiking. There's a supermarket in Nice, and (if ya really don't want to cook) a good Thai (?!) restaurant in near-by Lucerne. Ken was a very accommodating host and genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay - which you will. If you're looking for a true getaway spot, you should definitely check out Precious Forest. We thoroughly enjoyed our summer week here. So much so, that we're planning a winter getaway as well.

    I agree with Harry, when i stay at Precious Forest I pretty much only use candles, it makes you feel down to earth. But, the cabin now has full power for those who want it. thanks Ken

    Ken, thank you for sharing your amazing home with us. We had a great time. I couldn't keep our baby out of your huge tub or keep my nine year old from catching all the lizards.My husband spent a lot of time just appreciating the craftmanship. I loved your antique stove it really completes your kitchen. My family oohed and aaahed at the wonderful views and sunset from the top porch. My baby discovered the moon while here and could not saying wow. My dog was the calmest he has ever been. We would love to make this house a permanent vacation spot, it brought us closer again and reminded us why we all love each other. My husband is prepared to challenge you to horse shoes next time.
