'Jettshouse' is unique to Ocracoke in that it sits well off the road on a very large lot, providing great privacy. There is room to park a boat. It is located a short distance from the village, within easy walking and biking of shops, restaurants, pubs and all the other activities Ocracoke has to offer.
This house is fairly new to the rental market and all of the furniture and amenities are fairly new as well. There's a great stereo system and HD flat screen tv's. Amenities also include a gas grill for outdoor cooking, an outdoor shower, and a fish cleaning bench.
Ocracoke Island is a gem in and of itself and this house is truly one of the best rental values available!!
Note: We also own '24 Pompano Place' which is listed on VRBO. It is located next door to 'Jettshouse'. Ideal for large groups that would like to have 2 houses during the same period. Listing #238375

We vacationed over Labor Day weekend at Jettshouse. It was a wonderful stay, and I will definitely stay there again when visiting Ocracoke. The location is perfect. The turn into the neighborhood is maybe only 3 streets after you enter the village. The house sits back off the street and you can’t even see the road from the house, which is exactly what we wanted. It’s also close enough to ride bikes to anything in the village, or even ride a bike to the only lifeguarded beach ( although we chose not to do this because we had a lot of stuff to carry ) The drive to the beach in a car was maybe 4-5 minutes tops. The drive to the grocery store was less than 2 minutes. The house was very clean and well maintained. The best aspect of the house is that it’s secluded. The house is surrounded by tall trees, and the wrap-around porch is completely screened in which is wonderful for keeping out the mosquitos. I would not even consider renting a cottage on Ocracoke without a screened in porch! The kitchen is efficient and worked well; however, if you are the type of person who needs granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, etc, this kitchen would probably not meet your standards. The two bedrooms and open space with the futon are all located upstairs along with a bathroom. I would have preferred a master bath for our bedroom, but it was fine to share, because the kids normally took showers in the outside shower. Also, one small issue is that the top bunk of the bunk bed does not have a railing. My daughter’s friend wanted to sleep on the top bunk but I was too scared that heaven forbid she roll off. Luckily, I had not let her sleep up top, because she actually did roll off the bottom bunk of the bed the first night we were there! The size of the bedrooms are great though, and have plenty of closet space. The beds were very comfortorable as well. I would recommend this cottage to a small family who wants to relax; not to mention the rates are very competitive. Also, Dixie is wonderful to work with and very accommodating.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
