For our weekend trip to the mountains for a Saturday ride on the VA Creeper Trail and Sunday hiking at Grayson Highlands, we found Amanda's getaway the perfect "home base." It is conveniently located near both, and allowed us to ride directly from the house to the trailhead to begin our ride. It was clean and inviting - and very comfortable for our party of 5 - with room to spare. The upstairs bedroom was a perfect sleeping space for our children. Reasonably priced, with a very friendly and helpful owner, we will definitely be returning to Amanda's hideaway when we return to the mountains!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you! Jonh & Jonna Dolinger

We had a wonderful time at the cozy cabin. Made some friends with the neighboring cows, and a sweet Jack Russell from across the street quickly made friends with my five year old and came for a visit morning and evening. The pond makes for a nice morning view with a cup of coffee on the nice porch. The cabin is convenient to the Creeper Trail Rental and the Creeper Trail Whitetop which is our reason for our visit. The town is surprisingly small at first, but one quickly gets used to that! Damascus and Abingdon are also very close and are much bigger.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

We just returned from our weekend stay in Amanda's Hideaway . It was one of the best places we have stayed in a while. The owners were so accommodating and helpful. Upon arrival they called us to see if we had everything we needed. The house was well stocked and had such a warm and inviting feel to it. We felt right at home immediately. (Just like staying at Grandma's house) We rode the creeper trail which was just a half a mile from the house, fished in the pond out front and relaxed on the front porch breathing in the fresh mountain air! The smell of Christmas trees was fantastic! Our dogs had the time of their lives romping in the spacious yard! We will return one day soon I hope! Thank you very much for everything Jonnna.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank You! Glad you all enjoyed your stay. Come on back anytime! John and Jonna Dolinger

We thoroughly enjoyed Amanda's Hideaway. Plenty of space for two families, 3 adults and 2 girls. Enjoyed the porch, the fishing pond (yes, we caught and released something), and the fully equipped kitchen (gas stove!). The short ride to the Creeper Trail was easy in both directions. The bonus were free evening activities at the Whitetop Community Center on Friday and Saturday. On the list of places for return visits. Thanks!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.
