  If you are looking into trying a vacation on this island this is the way to go! This home is OCEANFRONT! While we were there the full moon was out literally right in front of our large screened in porch. The kids (14 and 11) found starfish in the surf as well as sand dollars. They enjoyed the beach, watching the dolphins, fishing from the shore and exploring the island with us. We were a little worried they may get bored but they cannot wait to go back! Make reservations for Marsh Side Mamas, the gumbo is awesome! The owner of the home was so helpful and made this vacation a breeze. The home is updated, decorated tastefully and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. This may have been our best vacation ever! Thanks again for sharing your home with us!

  This cottage is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Island. Loretta, the owner, was extremely helpful providing advice and informing us all about the Island. The cottage itself is perfect for all, couples or larger families. It is setup perfectly for a vacation rental. The location is great as its patio opens up to the beach, and it's only a short drive to the various restaurants and Country Clubs. The sunroom/patio was easily our favorite place to watch the sunrise and set each day. Lastly, the cottage was in terrific condition. Visiting Daufuskie is certainly an adventure, but was certainly one we thoroughly enjoyed taking. I hope Daufuskie continues to thrive with the rebounding economy as it is a wonderful place to relax and a worthy getaway, secluded area.

  Our first time visiting Daufuskie & it was a pleasure. The house is lovely, clean and spacious with a beautiful unobstructed view of the bay.We all loved the big screened in porch. We had fun exploring on the golf cart and saw everything on the "history" tour. Also saw lots of dolphins, deer and armadillos. We ate at Marshside Mamas- everything was delicious. We preferred Mamas over the Daufuskie Crab but that was quite good also. The only drawback to vacationing here is the extra planning for food if you don't want to eat all your meals out. Other than that- a perfect place to kick back and enjoy!

  I researched Daufuskie Island in the hopes of finding a secluded beach and experience a quiet vacation of rest and relaxation. I was a little apprehensive, as this was my idea, and was so different from most of our beach vacations. It did take extra planning for food and packing lighter than usual. This was one of the most wonderful vacations we have ever had! The cottage is beautiful, very well organized.. down to labels in the kitchen cabinets! There were two couples in our party. Each couple had a lovely bedroom which afforded privacy, and living areas where we could enjoy being together. Most of our time was spent on the porch, watching the sunrise and enjoying the view. We had our own private beach...walked, gathered seashells, flew a kite, rode bicycles, traveled in a golf cart, played golf, read, and totally relaxed! The restaurants were quaint, laid back...food was good! We thought we might go into Savannah one day, but just didn't want to leave the island! So many wonderful memories were made, and we hope to return someday! Thank you, Loretta, for creating this haven of rest!

The hardest part is getting over the idea of planning and bringing your food over from the mainland for the duration of your vacation, isn't it? We, like you, keep thinking that one day we should go over to Hilton Head,(you to Savannah) but in the past eight years when we visit, we never have wanted to leave the island for the mayhem of the mainland.   Our family had a lovely, relaxing vacation on DauFuskie Island. It is quite the remote vacation get away. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the very close proximity to the beach from the house. Our daughters loved driving the golf cart all over the island.

  AMAZING is the best word I can use to describe our vacation. My husband, myself and 2 kids (ages 10 & 6) were looking for a place where we could just relax and spend some quality time together and we definitley found it. The cottage was everything it says. It was so clean and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The beds were sooooo comfortable! The screened in porch was to DIE for! We spent many evenings out there just listening to the waves - as a matter of fact, my husband and son fell asleep out there a couple of nights :) Loretta, you were an amazing host. From our intital email to our many phone conversations leading up to our arrival, you were just awesome! All the information you gave us was so helpful. We enjoyed cruising around the island in our golfcart and eating at all the local restaurants. We even hit the farmer's mkt. on Saturday and picked up some really yummy things. I stopped by Ella Mae's one evening for some of her wonderful deviled crab cakes. My daughter and I had the best time horseback riding, especially along the beach. I just can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had. You have truly outdone yourself, Loretta. We will be back for years to come. The Powers

  Daufuskie Island is a little slice of heaven and this beach cottage is a wonderful oasis. Everything about this coastal chic beach cottage is picture perfect! Loretta has gone to great lengths to make this rental property feel like a home and she has succeeded in every way. From the soothing color scheme and furnishings inside to the fabulous outdoor living area with extraordinary views, there isn't anything that has been overlooked. Thank you, Loretta, for sharing your little slice of heaven and we can't wait to return!

  Owner response: Heather, Thank you! So glad you enjoyed your Mother's Day at the cottage after your dad spent spent many weeks in the cottage over the early Spring. Since you live so close in Savannah, I hope your family will make this a regular get away. Guess what?! The pool has opened after renovations of the entire Beach club area. The new owner has given a new name for the pool /restaurant area, Melrose on the Beach. That makes 5 restaurants on the island now! There is a per person admittance fee to the pool. That way renters have a choice without being automatically billed for an amenity they may not use. Look forward to hearing from you.

  We spent the week before Easter in this beautiful cottage I thought that the home was lovely and very clean. Drawers,closets and cabinets we empty and free of clutter. Everything was in working order. The cottage is right on the beach, separated only by an expanse of grass. We enjoyed the view from the comfortable screen porch. Our teenagers really enjoyed scooting around in the golf cart, but appreciated the cable TV and WIFI . when they got tired of loving nature. If there is a visit to Daufuskie in your future, you will enjoy staying in Loretta's home .

  My wife and I were married on New Year's Eve and after all the craziness of planning a wedding we knew we wanted to go someplace quiet to soak it all in and get some much-needed rest. THANK THE LORD above that we stumbled upon Loretta's wonderful cottage on Daufuskie! We stayed here for the first week of January and the weather could not have been better. For the entirety of our stay in the amazing beach front cottage, we walked the pristine beach every day and while we saw the footprints of other visitors in the sand, we never laid eyes on another human being on the beach. We felt like we had discovered our own private island, and it turns out that was exactly what we had done. Even if the weather had been terrible we would have enjoyed every second of our stay since the cottage is spacious, oh so comfortable, and decorated beautifully. We're used to going to the Gulf, where every condo looks like it was decorated by a mermaid and the Easter Bunny working together. Not so at Loretta's cottage. It's such a tastefully appointed cottage and we felt at home from the second we walked through the door. As for Loretta, a better hostess would be hard to find. She worked with us throughout the lead-up to our visit, providing us with great info about boat rentals to get to the island and cart rentals while we were on Daufuskie. She is a class-act and her cottage reflects her amazing spirit in every detail. I could go on and on and on about this incredible spot on this unforgettable island, but suffice it say if you're looking to get away from the average beach vacation that's too often spoiled by overbuilding and overcrowding, then get your a$$ to Daufuskie Island, relax in style, and let Loretta's cottage spoil the heck out of you. We'll be back again and again, Joe and Kathryn York

  We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend this summer and enjoyed every minute of our time there! The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated. The beach was beautiful and very relaxing. We felt like we had the entire island to ourselves. It was just what we needed to relax and get away! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful beach home!
