Location: Kingston, Puget Sound North, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (15 Minutes from Kingston Ferry)
Accommodations: Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 7)
The yurt is a place to simply get away from it all. Enclosed in a lush forest full of green and wildlife, the yurt offers a private tranquility that is tough to find. Completely off the grid, it is privacy defined. Although it may appear that you are far away from civilization, in actuality you are not far at all. Only a short 15 minutes from the Kingston Ferry is all you will have drive to your private beach stay. On that beach you can enjoy all sorts of fun activities including fires, swimming, boating, fishing, clamming, crabbing, and more.
In the yurt you will take pleasure in the surroundings of beautiful lattice woodwork, high ceilings, french doors, windows, and a large transparent dome. The furnishings are cozy and comfortable with a Northwest ambiance. Surrounding the yurt is a large deck with scenic views of the Puget Sound, a propane BBQ, and a large fire pit. Come experience what we call "getting yurty" and see if the moon in the sky with its reflection on glass water, with salmon jumping and the sand between your toes, and the smell of fire with Mt. Rainier in the distance is as wonderful as you dreamed it could be. Oh yeah, lets not forget that you are never too old for Smores.

I fell in love with my wife on a Kingston Beach 34 years ago while clam digging. Watching her dig clams with her long manicured nails and putting them in her designer purse and hearing her excitement. She grew up in a family of dry land farmers in Montana. No clams there! We love the Puget Sound and bought and owned a vacation home on Herron Island in the south Sound. We loved it so much. Our son loved baseball...so the summers have been dominated with traveling baseball all over the country for 10 years from age 9 to college ball. Once baseball was done we decided to put up a yurt as our next family project. We love sharing the yurt with our friends and family as that's what it is all about.
Why the Owner Chose Kingston

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

My wife and I spent a few days at the Yurt to get away and relax. I was a very idealic setting and very peaceful and quiet. Grocery stores close by, and lots of great resturants as well. Close to Ferry to Edmonds which provided a nice trip over the sound for a relaxing lunch in Edmonds. Can't wait to take another trip sometime soon. Make sure you have a truck or lots of ground clearance on your vehicle, not for sports cars or low riders.

The yurt site seems to have been carefully carved out of a thick wood, high above the sound. Sets of wood stairs lead to a private beach below. Here you are provided with a row boat to fish or just go for a row. The yurt itself is very comfortable and big. Take your pick between an instant fire from the gas fireplace, or build you own fire in the wood stove. A multi-leveled cedar deck surrounds much of the yurt from which you can watch vessels pass and stoke the fire in the outdoor fireplace. The owners have really thought of everything and provided amenities above what we expected. All told, the place really does conjure a feeling of comfortable and well-appointed adventure one might recognize in Disney's 1960 version of Swiss Family Robinson.

My husband, yellow lab, and I had the BEST time at the yurt. The setting is so private and peaceful and the dog loved being able to run down to the beach. It was the perfect getaway from busy city life and we can't wait to come back again!

Charming setting! Rustic yet modern! Comfortable! Surprisingly roomy and open. Absolutely enjoyed sitting out on the deck, looking up thru the forest canopy (immensely tall). Almost had an otherworldly quality, reminding us of scenes from Avatar. Fully expected a Na'vi princess or tribal warriors to descend from the trees riding a winged stead. We fondly remember sitting around the fire pit and chatting. We really enjoyed watching the maritime traffic passing by, every thing from small boats with two or three people trolling for salmon; to the Victoria Clippers transiting from Victoria to Seattle; to cruise ships heading for Alaska, to tugs tugging barges back and forth. And, on top of all that, Kenmore Harbor float planes gliding by. A very different experience for city folks, like us. Enjoyed greatly!

We spent a wonderful 4th of July weekend at the yurt property. When you drive down the lane to the yurt you truly feel as if you are going camping on your own private beach. But, the best part is you have a roof over your head and a shower! My boys, ages 7 & 9, loved the beach access and playing in the water. We would love to go back and utilize this property again. Property is very close to grocery store and other fun activities.
