Idle Hour Farm is located in the heart of Hunt Country, Dutchess County NY. It is a peaceful place among rolling hills, horse farms and dairy farms. It is conveniently located 1 1/2 hours from NYC, 1 hour from the Catskill Mountains, 4 hours from the Adirondack Mountains.
It is situated on 16 acres of open views, a four stall horse barn (bring your own horses if you'd like) a lovely swimming pond and babbling brook. The house is an antique farm house, beautifully decorated and amply equipped. The kitchen is a chef's kitchen, the home is excellent for entertaining both outside and in. With five bedrooms an extended family getaway can be enjoyed.
Idle Hour Farm is NOT just a Summer retreat, it is a winter wonderland. The pond is crystal clear for ice skating during the day or by night lit up by a huge bonfire. The house has 4 working fireplaces to make your stay cozy and romantic. For a winter getaway weekend or longer, come take in the frosty views and enjoy some outdoor winter fun!

The home was a perfect getaway for a fantastic autumn weekend away from the city. Our group included single people as well as couples with young kids and the house and area provided something for everyone. The home is beautifully decorated and thoughtfully laid out. It provided ample space for people to find a quiet corner to read and nap as well as lots of room for the kids to play and everyone (dog included) loved running around the fields. Although Millbrook is a quiet small town, the farmers market and local orchards and farms were a great excuse to shop and cook some local produce and spend a lazy morning exploring the picturesque county. This is a wonderful home in a great location and we're all looking forward to making it an annual friends retreat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our family very much enjoyed Idle Hour Farm, with its unique mix of authentic country and the luxury and comfort of a high end home. Situated on a stunningly beautiful and tranquil spot. The house has great antique features with a sense of yesteryear and authenticity, while providing every creature comfort you could imagine. The beds and bedding were SO comfortable...slept like a baby. Great spot for entertaining as well. If you live in a city this property is the perfect antidote to the city lifestyle...Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

If you're looking for a tranquil escape from city life (or just everyday chaos), this rambling old farmhouse with modern updates is the perfect spot. The house is cozy but elegant, with fireplaces galore, and thick, warm quilts for chilly winter nights. The kitchen is enormous - ideal if you love to cook. The property includes several nature trails to explore, and two horse paddocks, which our greyhound zoomed around in with glee. This area is full of horse farms: It's peaceful and quiet and the crisp, clean air was wonderful. It's a sleepy little town - not much in the way of entertainment. But if your idea of vacation includes long nature walks, jogs on country roads without another person (or car) in sight, and explorations of local wineries, this is your spot!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Dutchess County NY is a beautiful part of the country. Idle Hour Farm is located in the heart of Hunt Country amongst rolling farm lands and dairy farms. It is calm and peaceful but with loads of events and activities if one wishes to participate. It is in close proximity to the Catskill Mountains (1 hour) and the Adirondack Mountains, Saratoga Springs and NYC.

Idle Hour Farm sits on 16 open acres with a 4 stall horse barn (bring your own or use mine), paddocks, swimming pond and hiking trails. The wildlife is varied and plentiful and the variety of birds is extensive. The kitchen is appointed with top of the line appliances and there is ample room for indoor/outdoor BBQ'S. Upstairs an outfitted bar area for entertaining next to the outdoor deck overlooking the 16 acres of beautiful landscape. There are fireplaces in most all rooms. This is a child's paradise.
