This is a rare gem. The studio is small but perfectly adequate. It's in back of a house that's directly on the lake, and you have access to a hot-tub with a glorious view. Everything was comfortable and convenient. It's also a nice surprise to find a place that doesn't tack on a huge cleaning fee.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Darlene's place is a wonderful little studio right on the lake and close to many things! It's only 15-20 minutes from Squaw mountain, 5 minutes from Tahoe City. You can't beat it! The studio itself is a nice quiet quaint place with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+.

I rented your lovely studio for a few days after New Year's. I just wanted to say Thank You, and to let you know what a great time we had. It was perfect little rooms, and we very much appreciated how friendly and helpful you all were. We've recommended it to a few friends in the Bay Area, and we'll definitely be back! Thank you agan. I hope the new year is treating you all well.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Nice place works for NOT more than 2 people. Its wrongly advertised as for 3. Our 6 yr old son couldn't fit on the pull out sofa and it was a struggle for 3 on the full bed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Darlene and Warren, Thank you so much for having such an amazing hideaway to share with us. We enjoyed our stay immensely (more so than we could have ever expected). The studio was a piece of heaven down to the smallest details, so much so we found it hard to leave and enjoyed every bit the place had to offer, the boat, the dock, the beach, the forest... Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality and for creating the perfect retreat for weary city folk!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Sadly, this was not a good experience as most of our VRBO visits are. This studio is not lake front. It is above the garage that sits behind a home that is lakefront. You cannot see the lake from this studio. Also, it is up a very steep set of stairs & should be advertised as such. The main problem is that this studio needs a very thorough professional cleaning. There were cobwebs in all the lights. The couch cover was dirty and the floors felt dirty. The towels in the bathroom felt rough and didn't look clean. No washcloths and only 1 hand towel. The bathroom screen was torn and open at the bottom about 3". They absolutely need a ceiling fan in the bedroom as there is no air conditioning. I'm not a clean freak either, but did not feel comfortable staying here. Sorry to give a poor review, but hopefully if cleaned it will be much nicer for the next guests.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/7

We enjoyed three nights at this studio and are already talking about when we can come back to Tahoe. The unit is above a garage and was very quiet. It was stocked with everything we needed, including plenty of gear in the kitchen so we could put together a breakfast before we started our daily adventures. It looked just like the photos in the listing. The property is beautifully landscaped and there is lake access via the owner's private dock. There is a public park with lake access a few blocks away, plus a leash-free beach area about five minutes the other direction, which is great if you are traveling with a pet. I appreciated that the owners are pet friendly (with prior arrangements). All around a great stay in this rental and I would not hesitate to recommend to someone looking for a clean, stylish and relaxing rental.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, pet owners.

My husband and I stayed in this adorable studio for 4 nights during our wedding. It was clean, well-appointed, cozy, an generally a wonderful little place for us to have some alone time during a very busy few days. The space was nicely decorated, with a light, clean feel. In general, the owners have done a great job of making a lot out of a small space. The bed was very comfortable, and the natural lighting (one of the most important things in any space) was ample. The grounds were gorgeous, and we enjoyed access to the private dock, which is perfect for diving into sparkling Lake Tahoe on a warm Summer afternoon. We had a delightful, romantic stay, and will always remember it very fondly.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, pet owners.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 1927
About the owner: Owners of the property, husband wife, occupy a large 'Old Tahoe' home on same lot as the rental apartment, but assure guests of complete privacy from the main home. As a painter and actor couple, they take deep sustained inspiration from the great Lake Tahoe and are happy to share this special property that has been in the family for 83 years.
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe City:
In 1927, the grandparents of the husband purchased 4 lake front lots and built a large summer home on the 2 main lots. Therefore privacy is afforded the main house and the rental apartment because of the two vacant lots on either side of the buildings.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
Privacy, comfort. Access to lakefront beach and owner's private dock.
