After spending 7 days at a Waikoloa Beach Resort we (2 couples in our 60's) spent the last 3 days of our vacation at Hawi's Cabin in the Treeline. We quickly realized that we should have stayed here our entire 10 day vacation. Hawi is a quaint, historic little community on the North end of Hawaii. Our host, Chris, was most hospitable, friendly and a wealth of local information. The cabin is so unique, private, quiet and cozy, but not lacking in modern conveniences at all. This is how we imagine all of Hawaii used to be! We spent most of our time sitting on the front porch chairs looking out over the ocean, grazing horses and sheep in the foreground. Glimpses of Maui thru the haze as it is only 30 or so miles from Hawi. A fully equipped kitchen (not like the skimpy utensils at the resort), plenty of pots and pans, dishes and glassware. You'll love cooking here. No more resorts for us. Lots to see and do locally. Farmer's Market; local art galleries and gift shops. The other couple is from Alaska and I am sure they will recommend this Cabin to their Alaskan friends. We visit the Big Island a couple times a year and we will be back to Cabin in the Treeline and get our "Hawaii fix".Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We spent 5 nights in Cabin in the Treeline last week and hated to leave! Beautiful setting with a great covered front porch to watch the horses and sheep grazing in the pasture out front. Beautiful views of the ocean, Maui and, of course, the rainbows! The property and cabin is exactly what we needed - LOW KEY, QUIET, PEACEFUL. There were two of us so the cabin felt large but very, very cozy with a cedar smell inside from all the exposed wood. Just a few minutes drive to tropical rain forest and in the other direction sunshine! Great location. Just great!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Cabin in the Treeline is nothing short of amazing. We were fortunate enough to have spent five nights, which wasn't nearly long enough...I could have stayed forever. Chris and Carol took no shortcuts when they built and decorated this place. The house itself, the views, EVERYTHING was perfect. If you're looking to stay in the Hawi area, I can't imagine you'd find anyplace better. I highly recommend a stay here and would undoubtedly stay again!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our (too short) stay at Cabin in the TreeLine. I can't imagine any location with a better view or more conducive for destressing! It was even more beautiful than in the photo. The house and property were immaculate. We loved the Polulu Valley hike and our dinner at the Bamboo.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I spent a long weekend relaxing in the beautiful home and environment. The listing description was pretty accurate and the attention to detail was clear in the architecture and decor of the paniolo themed home. I loved soaking in the tub and sitting on the large porch watching the animals and the blue Pacific Ocean. When the clouds cleared we could see the island of Maui directly in front of us. And at night we loved looking up at the stars that seemed so close. The kitchen had everything we needed in order to cook what we wanted. On our way to Hawi, we stopped in Waimea and did grocery shopping at KTA. Though KTA had a wider selection, the prices at the Hawi grocery stores were comparable, but the selection was smaller. I would reccomend this property to a friend with the warning that cell phones do not work and the internet connection was spotty. But this would be a good thing for really getting away and relaxing.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Amazing location, great views across to Haleakala, owner is fabulous and informative about the whole Hawi area. The cabin is immaculate and well laid-out- charming with a great kitchen and the deck... we spent hours on the deck watching the sun set, looking out at the horses and sheep, reading, having drinks etc. It is a true getaway and great spot to explore the Pololu Valley and the many gems around Hawi. The saturday Farmer's Market in town is very local and very good for buying treats and fresh food. Definitely do a night at the Bamboo restaurant- well worth it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We did not want to leave this incredible place! The photos really don't don't do justice to either the fabulous views or the wonderful Cabin itself. The attention to detail in both the design and furnishings of the place along with it's 160 degree views of the northern tip of the island and Maui made it an ideal base for exploring the west, central (cowboy country) and north shores of the island. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts and their animals for sharing their 'Little slice of paradise' with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

One place that actually looks BETTER than in the pictures. It is so picturesque here, the old western style house, the fireplace, the horses and sheep outside, the amazing stars at night, and the cooler weather (compared to honolulu). Also only 10 minutes from Paniolo Adventures if you want to go horseback riding. DEFINITELY recommend!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cabin in the treeline. It was perfectly romantic, excellently located, and very charming. The attention to detail inside the “Cabin” were awesome—congrats on putting together such a beautiful spot. Although we were sad to leave the memories will stay with us for a long, long time. The views, tranquility, hosts, and "cabin" (it was much more like a house with the charm of a cabin) all exceeded our expectations. We will go back if in Hawaii again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
