  My girlfriends and I have stayed at Covered Porches several times for our girls' weekends, and each time it's just like being in Utopia! Every detail is perfect at the house and entire property, and we truly don't want to leave. This past visit we experienced snow, and it was beautiful. It is obvious that these homeowners truly want to share a home, not just a property. We have already booked our next stay in the fall.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  This was our second stay at Covered Porches and we had another wonderful time! The house has everything you could need and fit our group perfectly! Everyone had enough space and we truly enjoyed lounging on the deck (what a great view!) and the fire pit! The owners are so responsive and make the whole process very easy and hassle free! We hope to come back again soon!

  Our family has a yearly fall getway to Smith Mountain lake to visit family and attend various fall fesivals such as the apple festival. After doing this for several years trying various rentals and even staying at the Smith Mountain State park we have unanimously decided to make Covered Porches our place to stay from now on for our fall getaway. The entire family enjoyed the many comfortable bedrooms, eating area and the wonderful boat house/dock. We highly recomended for any family wishing to have a relaxing lake front stay. The owners were prompt at getting information and made travel to the home easy and information needed for the stay was clear and precise.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

  The owners of this home have taken care to make sure everything you need is provided. Our age rage was 4 to 62 and everyone had a fabulous time. The lake is beautiful, house clean and open, the boat house and deck large. We brought kayacks so we didn't use the canoes but they were there if we wanted. We rented a pontoon boat and enjoyed private coves on the lake. Sunsets in the fall breathtaking. The house was clean, beds comfortable and more space then we needed. The kitchen was well appointed and provided all your needs in pots, pans and dishes. Besides boating we enjoyed fishing, swimming, Booker T Washington homestead, winery, dam and hiking. The booking process was the easiest and most welcoming I have ever encountered and we rent 1 to 3 homes a year. Honestly, I cant think of one negative!

  My family celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at Covered Porches and we had a wonderful time! The house was very comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The view from the house is incredible and everyone enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. With the wooded area next door, we felt fairly secluded and saw lots of deer right up close. We rented a boat for a few days and had fun exploring the lake and swimming in remote areas. Thanks for providing the floating chairs and noodles! My family has never stayed at a lake house before, we usually go to the ocean, but I have to say this was a great vacation! I know we will all have very fond memories of our stay at Covered Porches. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

  We had a truly wonderful week enjoying your beautiful lakefront house. Art and architecture made it a pleasure to be in, and my grandchildren were thrilled with their newfound independence, paddling the canoes from point to point. We fished, swam, visited the dam and visitor center, the state park, but mostly stayed put on the dock and marveled at the perfect weather. The house is so comfortable and well appointed, with plenty of space to gather or have privacy. Grandchildren voted it the best vacation ever. After they all left on Friday, I had a day to relax, do some writing, and wind down before the trip home. Thank you for making your home available to us.

  Our entire experience with Covered Porches was top notch. The owner went out of her way to make sure we have everything we needed and all our questions answered prior to the stay. The best features of Covered Porches are the sunset views, covered boat dock, small walk out beach and the overhang above the main floor deck which provides great shade from the sun until late afternoon when the sun sets. The water is crystal clear and sandy and the location has close access to everything we needed. We will definitely be staying here again!

  The house is spacious and gets wonderful light, with a wide porch that overlooks the lake. The kitchen is well-appointed and roomy as well. We only wished we could have stayed longer.

  Great house,great sunsets,beautiful weather. We drove thru a horrible downpour to reach the house,but on arrival at the lake a fire was ready to light in the beautiful stone fireplace on the outside deck.We had a lovely evening sitting by the fire despite the weather. We did not spend much time INSIDE the house for the rest of our stay as the weather was perfect and we were either on our rented pontoon, the canoe or on the decks and boathouse. However the house is equipped with anything you might need, rain or shine. The time went by so fast, we hope to return in the future. Thanks Roslyn for your phone call to make sure everything was satisfactory and the prompt return of the security deposit. This home has everything you could possibly need. The icing on the cake for me was the fact that my grandson proposed to his girlfriend right in front of the great fire! He said the setting was just too good to pass up the opportunity. Thanks again,Roslyn, for sharing your lovely home. We were 4 generations ranging from 3 months to 76 years. Would strongly recommend this home. Shirley

  Absolutely wonderful week on the lake. Covered Porches is a beautiful lake home with all the comforts of at actually being at home! The beach, dock and floaties were perfect for the 5 little ones, and us adults enjoyed the views from the comfy porches. The house is conveniently located in a great part of the lake and very accessible from DC/NoVa. We particularly enjoyed boating to nearby restaurants and the Tiki Bar (just around the cove from the house!). Can't wait to come back again!

Spring/Fall/Winter- 1/2 due 60 days & 1/2 due 30 days before check in

Cancellation Policy: Any monies paid are nonrefundable unless we are able to re-rent the home for the period originally booked. We will try to re-rent the home for the period cancelled and will refund all monies paid less a

$50.00 processing fee.

Additional Fees and Taxes:

10 % tax on Rental

Credit Card processing fee of 2.5%.

Personal checks are welcomed provided there is enough time to process/clear
