Special offer: Guest Reviews Tell it All! Details
You will love sitting outside on the fabulous new SOUTHERN-facing deck! Watch beautiful sunrises & sunsets, see pelicans soar and dive, herons, egrets and skimmers as well. Occasionally we are graced with the presence of a dolphin or two in Dolphin Canal. Winter time is a great time for birding. Whooping Cranes migrate to the nearby Aransas Wildlife Refuge between November and March.
The well stocked kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals. There is no need to bring spices or coffee/tea. That is provided along with snacks and bottled water. So, if you arrive late and have not had time to go to the store, there will be fresh hot coffee for you in the morning! You can dine inside or out on the deck overlooking Dolphin Canal. One of the best features of Pelican Guest House is the SOUTHERN EXPOSURE. This provides tropical breezes in the summer and protection from a cold north wind in the winter!
Rockport is a perfect getaway place with quaint shops, art galleries, museums, an aquarium & restaurants. There is great fishing, bird-watching, or it is just a great place to kick back and relax! The Rockport /Fulton area also hosts many festivals and events throughout the year. We'll provide you with maps and info to make your visit complete.
Come stay at Pelican Guest House.... We know you'll want to return!
Please read our reviews! We have had wonderful guests and their reviews 'tell it all'!
Keywords: PRETTY AS A POSTCARD! You'll feel like you're in a TROPICAL PARADISE...Pelican Guest House is Perfect in every way!
When you arrive at Pelican Guest House in beautiful Key Allegro, enter the common foyer and go upstairs to your newly renovated Guest House. You have your own separate and private retreat, with your gracious hosts living below.
We've decorated in Bright & Cheery Island colors. The 2 spacious bedrooms, The Blue Room & The Coral Room, have comfy queen-size beds and 2 full baths. (There's also a futon in the living room). The beautiful Ocean Blue kitchen, with it's large island and bar, has everything you need...just bring your groceries (or go to one of the many Rockport restaurants).
The open floor plan of the kitchen/living room/dining room allows plenty of space and places to sit & relax, or enjoy the wide screen cable TV, games, books, and WIFI.

Two couples met at Judi and Jerry's Pelican Guest House. The house was perfect for us - cheerful, clean and a great place to relax and visit. Judi and Jerry are gracious hosts - happy to answer any questions, but respectful of your privacy. We had car trouble in a remote area and we called them for advice on a place to take the car. They were very helpful and offered to help us in any way they could - above and beyond what we would think a host might do! This was our first trip to Rockport and we really enjoyed the pretty, laid-back community. I would highly recommend seeing the program at the Community Education Bldg - across from the Visitors Center in Rockport. Program changes daily - the "teacher" was excellent and we learned so much about hurricanes in that short presentation. We would love to see the hummingbirds in September and the whopping cranes during the winter - next trip!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed the accommodations as well as our "laid back" community and surrounding area. Also, good to know you enjoyed the Bay Area Education Center. It is a fabulous source of information. We will look forward to your return in September for the Hummingbird Festival! Make your reservation soon as we would love to have you back! Judi and Jerry

Our first time as Winter Texans was enhanced by our choice of Pelican Palms for our two-month stay. We were made very welcome by our hosts, Judi and Jerry, who helped us move in and answered our questions throughout our stay. Previously, we had stayed at other VRBOs without a resident landlord and found that we were somewhat lonely and might not have taken full advantage of our location. Certainly, this was NOT the case here. We've been totally comfortable in this spacious two-bedroom apartment and wonderful deck overlooking a canal with resident Great Blue Heron and ducks. Rockport is a great little town with a public beach, wonderful shops, and restaurants. It is very close to Aransas Wildlife Refuge and Goose Island State Park, two places perfect for birders. We've really enjoyed our two months in Rockport and getting to know our hosts. They have made a memorable space here. We will be returning soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Both Jerry and I really enjoyed having you as our first official Winter Texans! It was so nice getting to know you and being able share our wonderful area with you. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to a return visit! Judi and Jerry

My husband and I stayed at Pelican Guest House for 3 nights near the end of January, and fell completely in love with the property. We typically head to Port Aransas for at least a weekend each winter, but decided to change things up this time. We nearly gave up on finding lodging (tons of winter Texans in Rockport, apparently) until I found this place on VRBO. I am not exaggerating when I say that it could not have been more perfect. The house is exactly as it is portrayed in the photos, with the exception of the huge deck overlooking the canal that opens up to the living area by two large french doors. That part was better than what the pictures showed! Judi and Jerry are totally correct when they say that one of the best features of the home is that the deck opens up to the north (?), which protects you from cold winds. Even in January we were able to sit out there and enjoy the gorgeous views. The furnishings are top quality, and the whole place just feels like your own little vacation home. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival, and our hosts had even stocked the well-appointed kitchen with snacks and bottled water. It was exactly what we were looking for, and we will definitely be back. We really have not stopped talking about it since. Thank you so much, Judi and Jerry, for a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We really enjoyed chatting with you guys, and hope to return soon! Ashley & ChadRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you discovered our Guest House! The deck faces South and is one of the best features of our property. We take pride in providing quality accommodations, cleaniness and all the extras, as that is what we want when we are on vacation! Jerry and I look forward to your return! Thank you for the wonderful review!

Words defy how wonderful our stay was at the Pelican Guest House! The accommodations were better than great! This is the perfect set up for two couples. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The main living area was so relaxing! I've stayed in a lot of vacation rentals and this, by far, was the best stocked kitchen. I don't think there was a thing we needed that wasn't provided. Judi, Jerry and Cowboy were wonderful hosts. Friendly but not intrusive, they welcomed us and made sure everything was to our liking. We have already booked our stay for next year! So happy we found this treasure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: You were such social and fun guests! We have truly enjoyed all of our guests and we take such pride when we know our accommodations have exceeded their expectations. The guest house kitchen is well stocked because I like to cook. I know it can be so frustrating when your rental doesn't suit your needs. Jerry and I know the four of you enjoyed being out on the deck as well. We will see you next year or sooner! Judi, Jerry and Cowboy

My husband and I spent a week and our stay was fantastic. The property was very clean and we were very comfortable....like home away from home. We found the property to be just as it was described in the listing and the owners were great and very easy to deal with. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends and relatives. We plan to stay there again!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are glad that you were comfortable and enjoyed the accommodations. Jerry and I are very aware of our guests need for privacy and to enjoy a relaxing time. Although we live "downstairs" the Guest House is very private and secure and our guests come and go and rarely do our paths cross. However, we are available if they need something and/or would like to visit with us. We appreciate your business and look forward to having you return!

The stay was very good. Though we occupied the second floor of the house, private access was provided. Jerry and Judy were the perfect hosts - they were available and helpful but never bothersome or intrusive. They'll be my first call next trip.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review as well as stating so well the importance of privacy. So often it is difficult to explain to prospective guests how our guest house is "configured". It is quite unique in that we live downstairs, but our guests have their own private access. If our guests need something or would like to visit and interact with us, we are available (and we do enjoy meeting new people and interacting with them if they so desire). Otherwise we understand their need for privacy and to enjoy their valuable vacation time. We look forward to your return!

For years I have stayed at another property in Rockport, but it was occupied and we found this home on VRBO before our last fishing trip. The Owners, Judi & Jerry were very nice, accomodating, and helpful. I would highly recommend this property and plan on staying there everytime I go fishing!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We certainly look forward to your return! Glad your fishing trip was so successful and that the kitchen and other accommodations met your needs. It is always a pleasure helping our guests and providing them with information that will make their stay pleasurable.

My mom, sisters and I stayed at the Pelican Guest House for two wonderful nights! Thank you Judy and Jerry (and Cowboy)! The highlights for us were: #1 the deck! Beautiful view of the Dolphin Canal. Loved that southern facing feature of the deck a well - wonderful breeze and comfortable chairs and loungers. We even had a swim in the canal, which was quite fun! Loved having floats and noodles! We loved the apartment and how cozy and comfortable the accommodations were (great kitchen, island, big bedrooms, comfie beds and fun, coastal decor - bright and cheery!). Thank you Judy for being so welcoming when we arrived and explaining the special nuances/features of the property. The neighborhood is adorable as well. We really enjoyed swimming in the neighborhood pool (very low chlorine - big bonus!) It was great to have wifi and a DVD/VCR player too (we bought and watched a couple of movies at an adorable bookstore - Lori's BookNook). We simply can't wait to go back! Thanks again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed the deck, floats and comfortable beds. All of our guests enjoy sitting out on the deck throughout most of the day, as it is shady and there is a wonderful breeze. Jerry and I enjoy meeting our guests and helping them to get acclimated to the guest house and surrounding area. It was a pleasure having all of you and we are glad Pelican Guest House met your vacation needs! Hope to see you soon!

We had the best time staying in your home celebrating my husband's 80th birthday. My sister and her husband joined us for a few days of getting to know the Rockport area, enjoying the great food and relaxing on the deck reading. It is decorated perfectly, very clean and a wonderful place that we will want to rent again. Jerry and Judi are the perfect hosts.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for staying with us! We are happy you enjoyed your stay and were able to enjoy reading and relaxing on the deck. The Rockport area is a wonderful place to explore. Glad you enjoyed your time and we hope you will come back to our wonderful area and Pelican Guest House.

About the owner: I am a long time educator and hope to retire in the next year or two. Jerry is self employed and is also busy with several projects...mainly his sailboat! Most of the time we are around, but never 'in your space'. We enjoy our guests, but respect their need for privacy and a restful vacation.
