  • mainely perfect

"We had a perfect vacation on echo lake. It was the first time our whole family could manage a vacation together in a long time. The cabin was perfect for our needs. We spent much time on the private dock where we enjoyed the breathtaking views and the beautiful loons that came to visit often. The photos of the cabin reflected the interior and exterior very well. We were very close to hiking, biking, and bar harbor. We felt very comfortable in the clean and well-maintained home."

  • Perfect house for our family!

"My family of 3 just got home from our week stay in the house. It couldn't have been more perfect for us. Extremely quiet street, short walk to the beach and bus stop. The rooms were big and very comforting. Our 2 year old son loved watching the golf carts drive by on the golf course. The deck off of the front bedroom was a nice place to unwind at the end of the day. We were so pleased with our stay and we can't wait to return next summer!"

  • Awesome Summer Vacation

"My wife and I stayed 5 nights in mid July. The condo has great furnishings and was well equipped. The management company, Berkshire Hathaway, is very professional and the welcome packet and other little perks were impressive. This condo is very conveniently located in Beaver Creek. We walked about 2 blocks to the VICAR center where we saw Donald Regan one night. It is an easy walk to the shops and restaurants in Beaver Creek Village. There are dedicated walking paths and sidewalks everywhere which make it great if you like walking or biking. Beaver Creek is a great location because it is situated in Avon, half way between Vail and Edwards. The summer is awesome in the Vail Valley! There is a musical event almost every night and many are free. The weather is perfect. Eagle Vail golf course is right up the road and it is a bargain at about $69. Edwards has a very nice mall and movie theater. More great restaurants than you can count. This condo is nice and roomy. We didn't need the fold out sofa this time but it is large for a one BR and would easily accommodate a couple of kids as well. I recommend it highly."

  • Return experience

"We stayed in this property two years ago over Christmas and it was just as lovely the second time around. Lin is very conscientious and accommodating. She takes great pride in her house and our happiness. We always have such a great time here and skiing at Jack Frost. It's such a family friendly area."

Lake Ontario Area Travel Tips

Getting to Lake Ontario Vacation Rentals

To get to Lake Ontario on the American side, the major travel hub is Rochester, New York which is located just inland of the southernmost point of the lake. Rochester has a national airport which receives domestic flights from most major cities on the East Coast and Great Lakes areas. The largest major city near Ontario is Buffalo which is located on the shore of the nearby Lake Erie. Buffalo is within easy driving distance from most parts of Lake Erie's southern shoreline. If traveling from overseas, you may consider flying into New York City or Philadelphia. Both cities are within a day's driving distance from Lake Ontario. Alternatively, you can also fly into Toronto with is on the northern Canadian lakeshore and from there, get a regional flight to Buffalo.

Seasons to Visit Lake Ontario Cottages

If you want to enjoy water sports and long leisurely walks then summertime is the season for you to visit Lake Ontario. There are many boat launches, marinas and picnic sites where you can enjoy a day out with the family. During the warm summer days, many visitors can be seen out on the water as they enjoy their favorite sports. This is traditionally the busiest time of year and the peak season is during the months of June and July. If you want to avoid the crowds, choose a travel time earlier or later in the summer season. May and September still enjoy mild temperatures. Lake Ontario is transformed into a snowy winter wonderland by November and December. While the lake sees fewer visitors than in the warmer summer months, for many people this is their preferred season to travel. Many parts of the lake ice over, providing ice skating, sledding and snowmobile trails. Cross country skiing trails wind their way around the lakeshore as well.

Activities and Attractions near Lake Ontario Cabins

On a warm summer day, you can see sailing craft billow their colorful sails and motorboats speeding over the lake. Wake boarding and Jet skiing are other favorite activities on Lake Ontario. In the icy winter months, the frozen lake is dotted with ice fishing cabins. Other popular winter activities include cross country skiing, snowmobiling and sledding.

Within easy driving distance from most rental homes on Lake Ontario's southern shoreline is the impressive natural phenomenon of the Niagara Falls. This powerful and cascading waterfall is one of North America's most visited tourist attractions. It is not only the falls that are impressive. The city of Niagara Falls has become an entertainment wonderland. There are theme parks, amusement parks, casinos and all kinds of entertainment available. You can cruise below the falls on a paddle steamer, walk underneath the falls or view it from above on a helicopter or microlight flight. There are many fun activities to be enjoyed and it is a great destination for all ages.
