  • Great place to relax!

"Our 3 family group had such a wonderful time in this beautiful house! It was never a problem with all the rooms & bathrooms. The pool was perfect. The girls took over the media room and they had a blast up there. It was such a relaxing week. We would recommend this home to anyone. The list Sherry sends prior to your arrival about places to go to etc..was such a great help, we tried Kenny B's and it was the best and at an affordable price. We also went to Harris Teeter and got so many great bargains just like she said. We will definitely stay at this house again. Thank you Sherry!!!!!!"

  • Wonderful location...

"We were in Seattle for 2 family weddings. The location was great for sightseeing, in the middle of everything. Really wonderful for various family members to hang out and see each other. Condo was clean, well furnished and comfortable. The building was secure and food/meals/bodega just steps away. No air conditioning was not a problem, except that the open windows made for loud nights because of the lively urban setting. We were disappointed that there were so many broken items...2 of 3 lamps didn't work or were falling apart. Half the bulbs in high ceilings were burned out, the upstairs ceiling fan was broken, the upstairs clock radio is broken (time can't be set), no cover for the exhaust fan in the upstairs bath. While each issue was small, taken together it was mighty irritating for the price of the condo and the poor lighting after dark. If you wanted to read, it was nearly impossible. We'd stay here again for sure, but would call the on-site lady and complain if the same problems persisted."

  • August 2014 Annual Family Beach Trip a Huge Success thanks to Steve and Debbie!!

"My family and I loved it. The shortest walk I've ever had to the beach. It's closer than even the picture shows. Including when I would stay on beachside. Condo was clean, rooms huge, and everything you would need. The first thing my wife said when we arrived, "they know how to treat the person paying." lol The Master bedroom and bath was huge and very nice. Oh and the amenities the resort offers!! We stayed on the beach (of course) but the small pool just steps away was a great night time dip and the last day was spent lounging at the lagoon style pool sipping on "shipwrecks" from the bar. (psst, easy on the shipwrecks I know how they get their name.) Close to everything. The condo was free the night before and they let us book that night just 24 hours before I arrived, so we got another night. What else could I say except Steve and Debbie were Awesome to work with, their condo is Awesome, it has an Awesome location, and they made my family's annual beach trip this year just that much better. Thanks so much Layton's and we'll be seeing y'all next August!"

Lake Ontario Area Travel Tips

Getting to Lake Ontario Vacation Rentals

To get to Lake Ontario on the American side, the major travel hub is Rochester, New York which is located just inland of the southernmost point of the lake. Rochester has a national airport which receives domestic flights from most major cities on the East Coast and Great Lakes areas. The largest major city near Ontario is Buffalo which is located on the shore of the nearby Lake Erie. Buffalo is within easy driving distance from most parts of Lake Erie's southern shoreline. If traveling from overseas, you may consider flying into New York City or Philadelphia. Both cities are within a day's driving distance from Lake Ontario. Alternatively, you can also fly into Toronto with is on the northern Canadian lakeshore and from there, get a regional flight to Buffalo.

Seasons to Visit Lake Ontario Cottages

If you want to enjoy water sports and long leisurely walks then summertime is the season for you to visit Lake Ontario. There are many boat launches, marinas and picnic sites where you can enjoy a day out with the family. During the warm summer days, many visitors can be seen out on the water as they enjoy their favorite sports. This is traditionally the busiest time of year and the peak season is during the months of June and July. If you want to avoid the crowds, choose a travel time earlier or later in the summer season. May and September still enjoy mild temperatures. Lake Ontario is transformed into a snowy winter wonderland by November and December. While the lake sees fewer visitors than in the warmer summer months, for many people this is their preferred season to travel. Many parts of the lake ice over, providing ice skating, sledding and snowmobile trails. Cross country skiing trails wind their way around the lakeshore as well.

Activities and Attractions near Lake Ontario Cabins

On a warm summer day, you can see sailing craft billow their colorful sails and motorboats speeding over the lake. Wake boarding and Jet skiing are other favorite activities on Lake Ontario. Throughout the year, fishing is a popular sport. In the summer months, fishermen line the shores and can be seen bobbing in their boats in deeper waters. In the icy winter months, the frozen lake is dotted with ice fishing cabins. Other popular winter activities include cross country skiing, snowmobiling and sledding.

Within easy driving distance from most rental homes on Lake Ontario's southern shoreline is the impressive natural phenomenon of the Niagara Falls. This powerful and cascading waterfall is one of North America's most visited tourist attractions. It is not only the falls that are impressive. The city of Niagara Falls has become an entertainment wonderland. There are theme parks, amusement parks, casinos and all kinds of entertainment available. You can cruise below the falls on a paddle steamer, walk underneath the falls or view it from above on a helicopter or microlight flight. There are many fun activities to be enjoyed and it is a great destination for all ages.

Visitors to Lake Ontario

Lake Ontario has to be a favorite vacation destination for families. Aside from the lake, there are many great attractions for young and old alike.
