  • Wonderful, relaxing vacation at Southern Comfort!

"Our first visit to Cape Charles was wonderful in Southern Comfort! The home was amazingly renovated with great attention paid to retaining the historic features while providing comfortable updates! The bedrooms were beautifully appointed, comfortable and charming. Having bikes provided by the homeowner was a nice surprise and greatly appreciated. The town is charming - we enjoyed two nights out for dinner, but the well-appointed kitchen enabled us to eat in as well. Thank you so much for allowing us to have a very relaxing, wonderful vacation in your beautiful home!"

  • Great week at 'Gone to the Beach'!

"This was our first trip to Cape Charles and our first time vacationing with my parents, our 4 kids, and our 2 dogs. The week was everything we could have hoped for! We love the house, so spacious and well stocked. It's historic and has character, as does the entire historic district. We loved being able to walk or bike to the shops, the Brown Dog Ice Cream shop (mmm) and Kelly's Gingernut Pub (get the she-crab soup and the coconut cake!) The owners have been wonderful to deal with, as well. Great experience overall."

  • The Perfect Getaway

"Our stay at the Pinnacle was absolutely perfect. The location of the property is ideal for just about anything you want to do. The listing photos of the properly definitely give an accurate reflection of the appearance and details of the home. The interior of the property is extremely clean and both the inside/outside are well maintained and cared for. We had never been to this area for vacation in the past and the owner was very helpful by answering any questions we had. We highly recommend anyone looking for a restful, ideal vacation to stay at this property. The Bay Creek resort has just about anything you want to do on a vacation (beach, pools, restaurants) and the quaint town of Cape Charles (less than two miles away) is a look at the past with a row of shops, stores, restaurants and fishing. Our family (including our grandchildren, ages 5 and 3) enjoyed our stay so much we are looking forward to coming back next year."

  • Your own personal "peace" of earth!

"If you like peace and quiet, love taking walks in the country, star gazing without light pollution and like getting away from the crowd, then this is the place to be. Rustic atmospher of times past is very enjoyable. The beds are very comfortable as well as the accompanying furnishings and creates an atmospher of family and fellowship for those who take advantage of such a wonderful place. This is a great place to take your dog(s) since there is plenty of room to walk/run em until you get tired. For those trailing a boat, there is plenty of room for a boat or two - parking is no problem. If you are a group of guys looking for a place to stay during the fishing season, this is definately the place to be!! The best part of the whole deal is the owner - Wilson. Although I didn't get a chance to personally meet him, he was very accomodating to work with and cares about his customers having a good experience. He will make every effort to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. If you need fishing advice, he is the "Go to Guy". Overall, this isn't the Ritz, BUT, for the money, this is a very good deal!!! Wilson - Thanks for a wonderful stay John from Remington, VA"

Things to do and see Near Cape Charles Vacation Houses

Visitors to the area that enjoy late-Victorian or turn-of-the-century buildings can indulge this passion when staying in Cape Charles vacation houses. This area has a very large display of structures built between 1885 and 1920. The town has actually been listed as a Historic District in two places: the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. If you choose to stay at your vacation home in the summer, you and your family can enjoy the harbor parties that take place on the first Saturday of each month from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Party the night away with a band, dancing, food, beer and the glorious sunset.

If you chose a Cape Charles house that is not directly on the water, you may want to visit the town’s sandy beachfront park. There is also the opportunity to spot birds or other bits of nature at Kiptopeke State Park. In the fall of the year, the park has a bird banding station and is a great area to see the migratory hawks.

Looking for a night away from your luxury home? If you want an entertaining evening, take an excursion on the Bay Creek Railway. Dine in a restored 1913 Interurban Dining Car for a two-hour trip or just take a fun trip for an hour. You can find a lovely vacation home within walking distance of the marinas and spend your days cruising the bay.

Golfing is another delightful pastime that is available to guests of VRBO rentals. There are two wonderful golf courses in the area that were designed by golf pros, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
