BEautifully appointed, well situated and a lovely host
"Ideal vacation spot on the shore if you wat to be close to the beach with plenty of outdoor options. The host is really wonderful and communicates frequently. The people that run the resort in which the home is located are also very thoughtful and kind.
One major standout is how well-equipped the house is. We had everything we wanted (even a pack and pay for the little one!) and found a bunch of stuff that we didn't even know we wanted! Bikes, grill, all kinds of cookware, etc."

"This house is set up perfect for fishing the chesapeak bay and equally convenient to ocean. 3 miles to public boat ramps on ocean or bay! Easy in and out of garage that can house a 24'+ boat with T-top! The garage is pull through with double doors on each side. Plenty of height and width as well as room to rig and hangout while preparing for next trip. Covered Lighted fish cleaning table with water also. Hose to reach to flush motor and clean boat and equipment. House is nice and convenient to fishing with ample room for an entire fishing crew. 3 bedrooms and 1 full and 2 half baths. Old farm house feel with modern conveniences. Nice TV in den and kitchen is equipped adequately. If you are looking for a great place to stay while fishing this is it. I would say the garage and ease of loading, rigging and such in the dry, is A+++. Our week had some nasty weather and can't imaginge getting everything ready out in the yard or parking lot, much less leaving boat and equipment sitting unsecured somewhere you have never been!! Safe neighborhood and ability to lock if you felt necessary."

"Our family of 4 plus 2 dogs had a wonderful time at Heron House. Our goal was to "get away from it all" - and that's what we did! Cape Charles is not very busy this time of year, but that was just fine with us. We enjoyed a nice walk on the windy beach and strolling along Mason Street with its cute little shops and restaurants. Everything is close-by. The house itself is lovely with tasteful decor and an amazing array of tools in the kitchen. We had everything we needed to cook a complete Thanksgiving meal right there! The large dining room table was also perfect for family game night. Our dogs enjoyed being able to run in the fenced-in yard and I'm sure the yard would be beautiful during spring and summer. Great service from the property manager, too. She was very accommodating and allowed a late check-out."

"My family and I rented the Great Escape to the Cape Escape home for Thanksgiving, and it was the best experience we could have hoped for! The house was big enough for everyone to spread out, and cozy enough for all of us to be together on the main floor. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, and we had lots of restaurants to choose from in the area when we got tired of leftovers. The house was also immaculate; literally sparking clean from top to bottom. I've never rented a house so carefully cared for! Also, for any questions we had, management was readily available, even though it was a holiday weekend. We will definitely consider the Great Escape again -- maybe for the summer! Thanks for a memorable experience!"
