About Brian and Cindy Saunders

Our family began enjoying the Ellijay area in 1999 and purchased Coldwater Cabin in 2000. Fun filled weekends, creek adventures and fires at night while listening to the noisy water have created many special memories for our family that will last a lifetime. We are happy to share this same opportunity and experience with you.

Why Brian and Cindy Saunders chose Ellijay

The attraction to Coldwater Cabin is the special escape it offers us from our busy lives in the city. We love the natural surroundings and sound of moving water as well as the convenient access to so many different nearby activities such as Carter's Lake. The short drive (just over an hour) from Atlanta to Coldwater is an added bonus.

What makes this cabin unique

Coldwater is nestled in a very private area and surrounded by the sounds of nature and the noisy water of Mountaintown Creek moving over rocks. This setting along with a warm, rustic cabin decor is the perfect combination. At the cabin, we feel you are transported away from it a place of peacefulness, relaxation and beauty that is hard to find in a metropolitan area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Brian-We had the best time this past weekend. Y'alls cabin was great and so relaxing and the weather was perfect. It couldn't have went any better. We are already planning our next trip in March or April and plan on taking our families with us and renting y'alls bigger cabin. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay in the cabin and have an awesome weekend. We just love Ellijay and know it will be a yearly or 2 times a year trip.

Can't go wrong with this one!

This cabin was great! As far as I'm concerned this cabin has everything you want in a mountain house. It is right on the Mountaintown Creek in a secluded/private area. The creek/river is great for trout fishing and also playing in-we discovered a rope swing over the river we all loved! There are other cabins around but far enough away that during the day you can't see them and only at night can you see the faintest of lights from the cabin on the left. The cabin itself is set up perfectly with a great deck for grilling out and watching the kids play down below in the river. We loved this place and would certainly stay again.

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful Christmas vacation in this cabin. Kitchen and bathroom is fully stocked and we hardly ever left the cabin, The creek was really nice and the outside fireplace was extremely cozy. We would definitely stay here again. We had rented a mini van and when we got into the community it was already dark outside and the roads are narrow and windy. Thankfully it had not snowed so we arrived safely. A 4 x 4 would have been better but it was fine.

A beautiful cabin with everything one needs to RELAX and forget it all. The stove on deck is great and makes for a nice evening even with the cooler air. The cabin is cozy and welcoming just like home. The location is an adventure but once you arrive you don't want to leave. A definite gem in the mountains. Will ABSOLUTELY be returning.

Getting there is half the adventure! But once you do, it is absolutely breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

What a breathtaking place! We thoroughly enjoyed our recent trip to Coldwater cabin. The house was charming and provided all of the amenities we could possibly need and then some. My husband enjoyed fishing in the creek which was a lot bigger than we thought it was going to be. We spent a day at Fort Mountain State Park which was awesome even if you just want to see the sights and are not much of a hiker. But the hike is totally worth it and is highly recommend it. Checked out a couple of the local wineries which are worth the drive. Hilltop package store has some of the best pizza I’ve had in a while. Overall a pretty amazing trip! Hope we can come back !

Didn’t want to leave

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was amazing. We only wished we had more time to spend here. Our favorite spot was on the porch overlooking the creek and listening to the soothing sounds. We slept better than we have in years. The cabin was spotless and the hosts were attentive in responding to emails and even called to check that we arrived safely. We liked that the cabin had a secluded feel but was in a gated resort so safety wasn’t an issue. We actually adjusted our plans to do less sight seeing so we could spend more time at the cabin. The cabin had all the necessities and comforts of home. Most of the roads leading to cabin were paved and easy to navigate. A small portion leading to the cabin is gravel and the driveway took a little getting use to when leaving but we just took our time when traveling this part of the road. Following the very detailed directions from the host are a must. They included landmarks which were extremely helpful. We would definitely rent again if we are in the Ellijay/Blue Ridge area. We enjoyed hiking to waterfalls, visiting wineries and discovering downtown Blue Ridge. We had perfect weather and enjoyed the fall foliage. Do not hesitate to rent this cabin.
