Wake to the sounds of a gentle rain falling on the metal roof or birds chirping outside the window. Enjoy the start of the day with a cup of coffee on the deck listening to the rushing waters of the creek as the sun begins to shine. Take off the chill by sitting by the soft porch lights and pot belly stove---which is perfect for roasting marshmallows at night.

About Brian and Cindy Saunders

Our family began enjoying the Ellijay area in 1999 and purchased Coldwater Cabin in 2000. Fun filled weekends, creek adventures and fires at night while listening to the noisy water have created many special memories for our family that will last a lifetime. We are happy to share this same opportunity and experience with you.

Brian and Cindy Saunders purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Brian and Cindy Saunders chose Northwest High Country

The attraction to Coldwater Cabin is the special escape it offers us from our busy lives in the city. We love the natural surroundings and sound of moving water as well as the convenient access to so many different nearby activities such as Carter's Lake. The short drive (just over an hour) from Atlanta to Coldwater is an added bonus.

What makes this cabin unique

Coldwater is nestled in a very private area and surrounded by the sounds of nature and the noisy water of Mountaintown Creek moving over rocks. This setting along with a warm, rustic cabin decor is the perfect combination. At the cabin, we feel you are transported away from it all.....to a place of peacefulness, relaxation and beauty that is hard to find in a metropolitan area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Brian-We had the best time this past weekend. Y'alls cabin was great and so relaxing and the weather was perfect. It couldn't have went any better. We are already planning our next trip in March or April and plan on taking our families with us and renting y'alls bigger cabin. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay in the cabin and have an awesome weekend. We just love Ellijay and know it will be a yearly or 2 times a year trip.

Great spot for a relaxing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We made a very last minute trip to Ellijay for the long weekend, and enjoyed every minute of it! Unfortunately the fishing was not good this weekend for my husband, but the cabin was extremely comfortable, clean, and well appointed. We enjoyed the deck overlooking the peaceful water. It's a very private location, but convenient enough to town. We enjoyed our short little vacation so much!

Loved staying at Coldwater Cabin. So cozy and the sound of the river was soothing to our souls. Wished we could have stayed longer. Decor of the cabin was adorable and the bed was very comfortable. Nice quiet area. Everything we needed was there. Couldn't ask for a better stay! We hope to come back someday.

Our Coldwater stay

  • 5 of 5

Was most enjoyable. The cabin was clean and comfortable.

We did however experience a couple power outages (keeping some cheap flashlights would be nice for this) luckily we had candles.

The dryer does not seem to be drying good.

Overall we were very happy and would recommend anyone staying there.

Please follow up with me regarding the deposit.

Thank you,

Mark

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your feedback about your visit with us at the cabin! We are happy to hear you had an enjoyable time and would recommend for others. We agree with you as our cleaning staff does a great job! Regrettably, high winds most likely caused the power issues. We wish you had contacted us! As stocked flashlights tend to disappear, we keep 2 gas oil lamps in the cabinet in case there is a power loss. The stacked electrical dryer does take a little longer to dry than full size for sure. You should have received the notice of your refund through the VRBO system. We will follow up with you as VRBO tells us that it can take up to 5 business days for it to process. We appreciate your visit with us at Coldwater Cabin and wish you a Merry Christmas!

Coldwater cabin stay November 2016

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin mid-November and it was very peaceful and relaxing. The running stream right out front was great. We went into town and enjoyed antique shopping and visited a local farm a few miles away where we bought several items including a grass feed dry aged rib eye steak which we cooked on the gas grill. I have to say that was the best rib eye I have ever eaten. Our children were sad we had to leave after only two nights but we hope we can visit again during trout season and catch lots of fish.

Coldwater Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The Coldwater Cabin is located on a beautiful rocky river. My favorite experience was hearing the water rush over the rocks from the porch while sitting in front of a fire in a pot belly stove. They provide the wood to. The cabin is positioned on the side of a mountain and the drive to the cabin through the mountains is gorgeous. The fall leaves are every shade of orange n red. Ok I am a hiking bird watching site seeer to. Cabin is fully equipped and clean. You want be disappointed with Coldwater Cabin in Ellijay.
