Fantastic honeymoon! 9/17-21
First of all Brian and Susan are outstanding owners. The cleanliness of the cabin was top notch. The location was challenging the first time up the driveway, only because it was in the dark. The view waking up was completely worth it! The pictures don’t give the cabin, or the view justice. We stayed as part of our road trip honeymoon, and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, or better owners. Fast response to all our questions, and complete answers. A little slice of heaven up there, thank you again Brian and Susan. We will definitely stay again in the future.
Beautiful place with a beautiful view! Loved this house
Loved the property. Very clean. Beautiful views of the mountains.
Beautiful property that is well kept. The view is fantastic and the sunsets do not disappoint! We felt comfortable and relaxed the entire time - no noisy neighbors, only wildlife and stars. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
Amazing Mountain Views
Awesome place. Amazing views of the mountains from deck and master bed room. Cabin was comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well equiped and stocked with all necessary utensils. Hot tub was also great. We enjoyed our stay at this cabin.
Peaceful with a great view!
Primary goal was to escape to some peace and quite and relax. Mission accomplished. Great view for evening sunsets and enjoying a beverage. Cabin was clean and well appointed with all of the essentials. Bring your own sheets and a 4 wheel or all wheel drive with high clearance for the drive up to the cabin. We have a Highlander so not an issue for us, but saw a few sedan type cars parked lower on the road who couldn’t make the drive up.
Absolutely gorgeous views, but the road!!
My husband and I stayed here over a long weekend for our anniversary. The property is wonderful! It was perfect for our needs, and we loved having a king sized bed to sleep in. We spent every morning and evening out on the deck. The view from the deck is absolutely breathtaking! The fact that the deck is covered makes it great to be out even when it's raining. The hot tub was large and comfortable. It was nice to be able to look at the stars at night. The only drawback we noticed was the lack of a washer/dryer (only an issue if it had been a longer trip). We would absolutely stay here again. However, I wish that I had heeded the advice of the other travelers who had rented this cabin regarding the road. Overlook Road is a poorly maintained road that hasn't been graded in a very long time. There are cave offs, large rocks, loose rocks, and ruts. We were at Castle Vineyards chatting with some locals and told them where we were staying. They were shocked that our vehicle could make it up Overlook Road at all. While we made it down and back every day, it was seriously rough and we grounded out the bottom of our car several times. We learned to serpentine up and down the road in order to avoid grounding out, and it took us a good 20 minutes just to go the 1/2 mile. Do not attempt this road in the dark!! Also, I cannot stress this enough: If you do not have a truck/SUV or 4x4 you should seriously consider renting one if you want to come to this cabin (and get the insurance if you do).
I really appreciate the nice Review about the house. We have loved going up there from the moment we discovered the place in 2012.
Regarding the road, It’s definitely NOT a nice, paved road. I agree that the final 1/2 mile isn’t fun. However, it’s not accurate to say that it hasn’t been graded in a long time. We actually grade a couple of times EVERY month. It’s a very difficult road to maintain, but necessary to have that kind of grade if you want the kind of views that you get from the house. ( on a different note, you can imagine how challenging it was for me to build a house at the top of that road!)
For years we only drove a Honda accord or Ford fusion up to the house. While it is slower and you certainly have to pay attention to navigate, we never had any trouble. We’ve even had guests come in a Camaro and many other regular 2wd cars. But I agree that there is no question that it is better if you come in a higher clearance vehicle.
Your response is very helpful to me and I really do appreciate it. I’m going to do a video traveling up to the house in my car and post it on VRBO and other sites to help potential guests have a more clear understanding of the road itself and How to navigate it without any trouble in a car. Thanks again!
