High up on Mtn - View & Hot Tub for an 'Altitude-Adjustment'

Bedrooms 1
Space 900 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

This cozy cabin is nestled high off Ivy Log Mountain, just 2 miles from downtown Blairsville. The privacy makes it an ideal romantic getaway or honeymoon retreat. If you need a place to chill so you can get an 'Altitude Adjustment,' this cabin is for you. It truly has the look and feel of a tree house. The interior walls are all natural tongue-and-groove pine, except for the master bedroom. There is a covered back porch with a swing and rocking chairs that face the full long range mountain view when the leaves are down and partial view when everything is blooming. A very large open deck comes off from the porch where the hot tub is located. On cold nights, you can snuggle up to the indoor stone fireplace. Or, if you are up for roasting marshmallows around a campfire, there is another area below the deck including a firepit, picnic table, and bench.

There is plenty to do besides 'chilling' at the cabin. Lake Nottely is one mile down the road and Lake Chatuge is 15 minutes north in Hiawassee. Take a very scenic hour drive over the mountains to Helen. Vogel State Park is just 15 minutes south, and offers a variety of activities from paddle boats and miniature golf to hiking trails and waterfalls. Antiquing, shopping, and golfing at Butternut Golf Course is just down the mountain from the cabin. Our local Meeks Park offers many trails and access to the Nottely river for fishing and kayaking. Within 2 hours, you can be in the beautiful Nantahala Gorge white-water rafting.

The 'Georgia Mountain Fair' happens in August.

The 'Sorghum Festival' happens in October, which is PEAK season in the mountains!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for a perfect weekend. Your cabin is awesome! I hope to stay here again in the near future. I am trying to leave a good review on the vrbo site, but it keeps saying there is an error when I am on the confirmation page. Hopefully they will get it fixed soon. Thanks again. Griffin.

Beautiful and private cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent stay at this cabin. Everything we needed was provide and though it was in a secluded area, it was not far from town. The view was outstanding, too. We managed to drive up the road without a problem. Front wheel drive worked perfectly.

great clean homey quiet cabin

Loved the cabin and everything about it except.... No WiFi🙁. Owners were more than gracious even checking on us while we were there. Highly recommended if you want peace and quiet or alone time with your sweetheart.

Nice Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with a weekend in the mountains. It rained, but not enough to dampen our enjoyment of the cabin or the Blairsville area. The cabin was perched among the trees half way up a mountain, making it secluded and serene. The steep access made it difficult to ferry larger loads, but for the two of us, the complete accommodations were quite sufficient. Thanks, again, for helping out with a great weekend.

Amazing romantic getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I blindfolded my girlfriend and took her to this cabin to celebrate our one year anniversary. The view was amazing, the cabin was super cozy, and the jacuzzi was a nice touch as well. We spent most of our time grilling out, drinking, and taking in the views. While Blairesville is a sleepy town there is surprisingly a lot to do. We went horseback riding, shopping, and ate out. There were countless other parks, lakes, rivers, and biking trails that we simply did not have time to visit. Blue Ridge is also a really cool town about 20 minutes away so there's shops/restaurants worth visiting there. We may have gotten lucky but there was also a big bag of charcoal, 5 bags of firewood, and plenty of matches.

My only criticisms are minor but worth mentioning. The listing states that Helen is about a 30 minute drive but it's actually about an hour. We booked a ziplining day in Helen but had to cancel because of the weather and long drive. Luckily we got a full refund but probably would've looked at other options if we knew it was a long drive. We would recommend adjusting the listing to reflect this.

We were also aware we needed to clean our own dishes but there were no sponges/scrubbers so we had to use paper towels. Again, minor detail but we would've bought a sponge ahead of time if we knew.

I would also say while the view is AMAZING, it is not AS good this time of year (May) because of the dense foliage. These photos must have been taken in fall/winter because you cannot see this clearly in the spring. Minor detail.

Also worth noting they are not kidding when they say the drive is STEEP. I got comfortable after my second time driving up the mountain but it's fairly scary the first time. It sounded like my car was going to stall out. You really need to gun it straight up the mountain in 2nd gear! Again, totally worth it and these criticisms did not discount our 5 star rating.

We will definitely be back and had a very hard time leaving!!! Thanks for sharing your cabin with us.
