Diane Cottage, York Manor, Short Sands Beach

You can't get any closer to the beach than the Diane cottage as part of the York Manor. Booking Saturday to Saturday weekly stays. Come stay at our cozy York Beach cottage located on Short Sands Beach. At the rear of the property is a charming Victorian-era one bedroom cottage. This is the only free-standing cottage on Short Sands Beach! Sleeps four, with a full-sized bed in the bedroom and two day beds in the living room. The 'Diane' has its own porch for a quiet evening or join the other guests on the front porch of the Manor in one of our classic wooden rockers. Enjoy the beautiful ocean view, spend your days in the sun at the beach only steps away, or walk to the quaint down town.

Short Sands Beach was recently named one of the 10 best beaches for a family vacation and you are on its doorstep! Relax on your front porch in one of our traditional wooden rockers as you watch the waves roll in or take in the nightly band concert at the gazebo. Park your car and put the keys away. Everything you could want to do is right outside your front door. No need to walk a long way or drive to the beach, step out the door and feel the sand between your toes.

Historic York Manor is a unique vacation complex, situated directly on Short Sands Beach, with dramatic ocean views of the open ocean. York Manor is one of the last vestiges of a time gone by. This is the perfect place to put your feet up and relax. This is Maine, “The Way Life Should Be”!

Highly recommend!

We loved staying in the cottage. It was the perfect amount of space, great location - park your car and don’t move it for a week if you don’t want to! The host was awesome and easy to get in touch with when we had any questions. Will be staying here next year!

Great Little Cottage

The cottage was great ! Just perfect for two, but will sleep more. The location was great right across the road from the beach and everything was in walking distance. The owners we're very kind and gracious. We would highly recommend staying here and we would definitely stay again.

Wonderful time

We had a wonderfull time. Clean, simple and a 2 min walk to the sand. Laura and her husband are great hosts. The front porch at the main inn is a great way to relax while listnening to the music on the bandstand accross the street. See you again!

Small and sweet

My 11 y/o son and I spent the week in this cute cabin. It was perfect for the two of us. Great location. Walking distance to Short Sands (across the street) and the little downtown (2 blocks). There were music festivals on the green twice during the week. Molly Os was our daily breakfast spot. The General Store had yummy sandwiches to bring to the beach.

The best vacation!

We had a great week at the Diane. The location couldn’t have been more perfect and we lucked out with a beautiful week of weather. What was nice was if I had to feed my 4 month old, I had the option to walk back to the house to feed him or change him if I wanted to, and the house was closer than walking to the bathhouse so we could go back to use the bathroom as well. It was so nice being close to the restaurants downtown and shops. Laura responded very quickly and was a great host! We look forward to coming back next year!

End of Summer vacation

Was nice, but think they could have more updated furniture/ essentials. Have to bring your own linen, cheap 4 cup Mr. Coffee pot, have to bring own toilet paper and no washes/ shampoos etc provided. Think the listing needs to say this.

The Diane cottage is the perfect location in a quiet neighborhood with breezes from the beach and close to everything in Short Sands Beach. Perfect for couples or small family.

Cozy cottage, friendly host and great location!

We had a great time at Laura's cozy cottage. It was as pictured, big enough for the two of us and you can't beat the location. The cottage is just off the main street which made it surprisingly quiet even though you are only a short 5 min walk to town and short sands beach. Long sands was also only 10 min walk and we also loved sitting on the porch of the main manor taking in the view. Laura was very responsive to our questions and we enjoyed meeting her Dad and hearing the family history of the property.

Perfect Beach Vacation Spot

We stayed for a week, and loved every minute of it. The owners were always accessible and extremely nice. We spent a few nights on the front porch of the York Manor listening to music at the gazebo. We walked to the Nubble Lighthouse every morning, and spent our days at Short Sands. The proximity to town was perfect, everything within walking distance. The cottage is adorable, perfect for a couple. We will definitely be back!

Excellent comfortable cottage

Excellent location. Steps to Short Sands beach. Less than 5 minute walk to center York shops and eateries. Nice walk to Long Sands. Cottage very comfortable. Bright and sunny with little front porch. AC/heat if needed. Comfortable bed. Roku TV confusing, but maybe that's me. Wanted a card table for puzzles and the host's dad quickly brought one. Stayed for 4 weeks and loved every minute. Will definitely go back.

Cute cottage!

As advertised, it is just across the street from the park and Short Sands beach. I had an issue with the heat and the owners responded right away and replaced it. They also followed up to make sure everything was good. We will stAy with them again for sure!

Steps to everything

Lovely little cottage was the perfect spot to enjoy Short Sands. We were able to walk just across the street through the gazebo at Ellis Park and have our toes in the sand! Cottage was clean & cozy. Would love to stay again.

Perfect beach cottage!

Very cute clean cottage. The bed was extremely comfortable! Great location, 2 minute walk to the beach & downtown. Added bonus that we could hear the bands at the gazebo from the front porch.

Hi VRBO! We are a father-daughter duo excited to be sharing beautiful York Beach, Maine! We are both currently living in York and love all four seasons in beautiful New England. In his retirement, Doug is in the business of flipping houses and Laura works in IT for a large insurance company. We both love the family owned and run house called the York Manor on Short Sands Beach. The house has been bringing family and guests together since 1970 and is a place we love and cherish.
