Our family of 6 just stayed at this house. It was wonderful! The owners thought of every detail, from cleaning supplies, everything you would need for the bathroom and kitchen, to items you would need for a fun day on the beach. It was also very clean. The beds could have been a little more comfortable, but the other pluses on the house outdid that. The house is about a 10 minute drive to the beach where there is plenty of public parking.
We are minutes from the Gulf of Mexico and Nokomis and Venice beaches. There are free yoga classes every morning, paddle boarding, boating, fishing, scuba diving are also available. Oscar Scherer State Park is one mile away with walking trails, kayaking, and access to the "Rails and Trails" bike path. Spanish Point Historic Park is about 2 miles and is a wonderful old Florida homestead with acres of trails, museum, library, gardens, and boat tours. The owners Marley and Jetze Beers are owners of BeadCamp and ArtSpace Teaching studios offering classes in lampworked glass, metalsmithing, and precious metal clay. They are also co-founders of the historic Cottage Art Gallery showing high quality local art. Classes in watercolor and alcohol painting are offered there. At the end of the block from the house is a kayak touring company and a drumming studio with a variety of classes. Historic Downtown Venice has wonderful shopping and restaurants. Venice Community Theater, one of the largest in the country is 10 minutes away as is the Venice Performing Arts Center. There are many public golf courses available. Of course Sarasota is a 20 minute drive with world class theaters, orchestras, museums, theme parks, aquariums, and more. This is the "Cultural Coast" of Florida. Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, Selby Gardens, Ringling Museum and more are great day trips less than 30 minutes from the house.
