About David Sams

We are David and Darla Sams. Originally from Texas, we came to Brevard on vacation and fell in love with the mountains.

David Sams purchased this cottage in 2011

Why David Sams chose Penrose

Location, location, location. The cottage is right next to a stream. During the summer you can sleep with the windows open hearing the sound of the falling water and have breakfast on the wraparound porch. During the winter curl up in the living room with the gas fireplace and warm wood floors.

What makes this cottage unique

Vaulted ceilings with a unique ceiling you won't see anywhere else. The living room has hand polyeurethaned pine walls and the kitchen has custom real cherry cabinets - no particle board in sight.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Relaxing and peaceful! Nothing beats it. We spent days traveling the surrounding areas sight seeing. Always excited to come back to Falling Waters. We will definitely be coming back. Maybe in the fall. You guys did a great job here. Best we have seen! Thank you for the opportunity to stay!

P.S. How much would you sell it for? We love it so much here we picked up loads of relocation books!

We love Falling Waters!

  • 5 of 5

Great little cabin tucked away in between Dupont and Pisgah National Forest. The stream that runs along side the cabin makes it feel totally secluded, and the wrap around porch is perfect for enjoying the view. And our dogs appreciated the fenced in yard. We've stayed here twice for weekend hiking getaways and will definitley be back!

Cozy winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here during what will probably be the coldest weekend of the year (12 degrees in the morning!). This cabin was so cozy and the fireplace was so nice to come home to! We came to the cabin to relax and the babbling brook (even when it was half frozen!) really added to the experience. I took a couple long naps in front of the fire. We definitely want to return in the spring.

Wonderful cabin! Enjoyed our trip and will remember it for years to come!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 days in this cabin and had a BLAST! It’s close to some great hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls, and the town of Brevard which was absolutely lovely. We loved the mini waterfall and creek behind the house. The house had everything we needed, a well stocked kitchen, and a cozy feel. We will definitely be back in the future! Thanks again!
