We started fishing for Steelhead and Salmon over 25 years ago and fell in love with the Northwest corner of Michigan for fishing and for family trips to see the colors in the fall. Our family and friends have come to love the Chalet as the perfect get away for any season. I hope you will, too.
Chris purchased this House in 2005
Why Chris chose Beulah
The Chalet is located in the middle of where you want to be when you travel to Northwest Michigan. It's a block off Crystal Lake, it's 6 minutes to Beulah, 15 minutes to Lake Michigan, 20 minutes to Crystal Mountain, 25 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes and the great towns on Leelenau Peninsula, and 40 minutes to Traverse City. Two fishing and canoeing rivers, the Platte and the Betzie, are very close. Frankfort has an A&W, a family favorite, and many other attractions.
What makes this House unique
The Chalet has lots of room and the comforts of your own home to spread out for a very relaxing vacation. It's well equiped with all the kitchen and grilling supplies you need to craft a gourmet dinner or a casual meal. The large deck overlooks a beautiful meadow - if you're lucky the deer and turkeys will pay you a visit!

A perfect place for everything
This is a very nice home and easily accommodates 14 guests with comfort. Everything is very clean and up to date. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking supplies and food basics like spices, oils, etc. The bathrooms were also very; clean and in great shape - the plumbing delivers a hearty shower even up to the top floor. The beds were extremely comfortable and we felt very at home for the week we stayed. We would definitely stay here again.
Very accommodating property close to so many activities in Bennie County.
Property is well maintained with all the luxuries of home. Great outdoor entertaining areas as well as a fire pit for the cool Beulah evenings!
Great Location, Nice Accommodations.
The chalet is in a prime location with the proximity to Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan. The house is great, the kitchen is well stocked and clean. We though that there were 5 bedrooms from the description but one of them is a bunk room with no door (just a curtain) and one is the downstairs apartment. All in all it is very nice with a large deck and picnic table that seated 8. The backyard is small but works well if you just want to have a fire. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a place to take day trips from and hang out with family.
Best Value for the Area!
My family of 6 adults and 6 almost full grown grandchildren enjoyed our stay. The house has lots of room and amenities to keep most everyone comfortable. Some of my grandchildren, who are the size of the adults, found the beds to be too small. All of the adults found the queen beds to be very comfortable. One daughter even commented that the sheets smelled the freshest of any place we had stayed!
The owner supplied all the towels, soap, toilet paper, and paper towels you could ever need, unlike many locations who give you a "starter" pack. The fully equipped kitchen was a plus, especially the dishwasher. We did miss having a garbage disposal, but I know many on a septic system don't like to use them.
The primary negative was the very strong musty smell from the garage and a less musty odor in the lower level. Opening windows alleviated that to a great extent.
Our family especially enjoyed visiting sleeping Bears Dunes and the Frankfort Beach. We also did a trip to Traverse City.
A wonderful week in a unique home--great for groups!
We loved our stay in the Beulah Chalet! It was the perfect house for our large group--plenty of communal space, but also many different sleeping possibilities. We only had two kids, but this is the perfect house for a group with lots of kids. Quick access to Beulah, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and all the fun of the Platte River. This is one of the most well-equipped vacations rentals I've visited, with lots of kitchen suppiles in great shape and many, many towels. We'd love to come back to this house again soon!
Perfect Location For Exploring NW Michigan
If you want to explore all the beauty of NW Michigan, the Beulah Chalet is the perfect home base. We have been visiting various locals in NW MI over the past 8 or so years. This chalet puts you right smack in the middle of where you want to be.
As for the Chalet, we enjoyed time on the quite deck and family time around the campfire in the evenings. If you’ve not been north, the stars are amazing! One of my favorite things was sitting on the deck in evening and staring at the amazing night sky illuminated by the countless stars. And, yes you will see shooting stars for sure. The chalet has plenty of space for all and a great stocked kitchen.
The town of Frankfort is on the opposite side of Crystal Lake, what a gem. We spent considerable time in and around Frankfort. It has a great craft brewery called StormCloud; check it out you; will not be disappointed. And Frankfort has the best beach we’ve yet to experience.
Don’t forget to check out Crystal Lake. We rented a pontoon at the local marina to cruise around the lake.
Other close and fun activities:
- Sleeping Bear Dunes (20 minutes away). One of the coolest things you’ll ever experience.
- Winery tours. Trust me one’s more beautiful than the next.
- Fishing charter
- Traverse City (25 minutes away)
- Sun set at Betsey Light House (10 minutes away). Don’t miss at least one sun set there.
Chris, the owner, is a gracious host. Thanks for sharing your slice of NW Michigan!
