Palmer's house is a fun, quirky spot that feels far from any hustle and bustle of Route 6. Lt. Island is a beautiful, secluded spot in Wellfleet. Palmer's house is just a 10 minute walk to a bay side beach, where at low tide you can walk far out into the bay looking at crabs. Although it's technically a public beach, it was very quiet most of the time, and the island itself is tucked out of the way. The house was well-appointed with kitchen items, a plethora of clean towels and sheets, two baby gates, beach chairs, an old boogie board, an amazing, multi-spouted outdoor shower, and little interesting nooks to explore. If you're looking for pristine, brand-new, big box store items, this isn't the place for you, but if you appreciate a more relaxed, homey feel with quirky charm, it's a great place to enjoy all Wellfleet has to offer. My one complaint is that the full-sized bedroom had two large dressers that dominated the room. One was topped with an assortment of animal sculptures, which were fun to look at, but the bulk of the furniture made it less restful, especially for smaller children. The owner was super responsive and helpful for a variety of questions we had. Definitely a great choice if you like quirky charm and are interested in exploring a more out of the way place on the outer cape!
