About this property

Your Toccoa River Cove! 12 acre private campsite with Adirondack shelter

The Toccoa River Cove consists of 12 acres of beautiful secluded private gated and wooded property with an Adirondack shelter hidden away only a few miles from Blue Ridge Georgia! Fantastic location yet very private for base camp to access the many activities in this area. The property is ideal for car or tent camping and is walking distance from the Toccoa River, a world class trout fishing river! Free Toccoa River access at the community lot is included in your camping experience (see pictures). We only book one group at a time, so you have the use of the entire property during your visit! No other campers or houses nearby! Dogs can roam free!

The Cove consists of 12 acres of lush woodlands and includes 2 spring fed ponds (the one with the small waterfall has drinkable potable pure mountain spring water at 300 gallons a minute), a year round bold creek system that is a tributary for the Toccoa River, a big fire pit for your provided firewood, a park charcoal grill provided, a nice outhouse, and a picnic table. The property has many different areas for tent camping throughout the acreage. There is also a large Adirondack shelter in the Cove (300 sf) with a food preparation area and some tables and chairs you can use for camping in, day shelter, central clubhouse or bunking in inclement weather, or if you are just car camping. It has a very nice outhouse/privy that is health department approved.
There are seven bridges across the creeks for the hiking trails. The Cove was originally the water source for the homes in the area before City water became available in 1990. The man spring puts out 300 gallons of pure drinkable spring water every minute! Abundant drinking water- no electricity (secluded and off the grid).

A private wide woods road from the main gates on Bear Walk Road loops around the perimeter of the Cove property and there are walking paths and small bridges across the creeks throughout. The property has both north and south facing mountain slopes with an abundance of mountain laurel, ferns, native hollys, large hardwoods, pines, and rhododendron everywhere.

The Cove includes easy access to the Toccoa River at the community lot on the river (the lot is on Gibbs Drive, about 1,500 feet from the main gates into the camping land) which has a charcoal grill, picnic table, boat launch, big swimming rock, and fire pit with chairs. You can hang out at the community lot anytime- it is shared with other residents of the subdivision. The river is controlled flow (dam release schedule online-search Lake Blue Ridge Dam) and usually at low water from dawn to about 3 pm, ideal for fishing, swimming or wading/boulder bopping. The new hiking trails at Project Chimps are less than 10 minutes away!

The Cove has easy road access the main gates, with a dirt/gravel road to the camping sites or a very short walk. For trailer or RV camping, please see our companion site, Your Toccoa River Fish Trap.

There is little to no traffic on the roads around the Cove- none are through roads and there are no other destinations other than the Cove. There is parking available for many vehicles along Bear Walk Road if you have a larger group.

The main loop road at the Cove from the main double gates on Bear Walk Road to the parking pad at the intersection with the road down into the Cove to the camping area and shelter is a dirt road with some gravel at the parking pad that runs along the high ground and is generally all weather. The gravel parking pad on the loop road above the Cove parking area at the top of the hill can accommodate 2 vehicles side by side. The parking area right at the camping site and shelter is a short downhill dead end road will accommodate an additional car. If you have multiple vehicles you must park them on the side of Bear Walk Road at the main gates- it is a 3 minute walk to the Cove if you park on Bear Walk Road. No trailers or RV's at The Cove please.

The Cove is conveniently located at 401 Bear Walk Road, Mineral Bluff, Georgia 30559, 4 miles off the 4-lane highway (Highway 515/76) and just a short drive to Blue Ridge, Georgia; Blairsville, Georgia; Murphy, Tennessee; and Copper Hill, Tennessee. It is located just a few miles from the center of downtown Blue Ridge with art galleries, many restaurants, brew pubs, shopping, the Blue Ridge Brewing Company, Mercier Orchard, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, and more! The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad runs most of the year from Blue Ridge to McCaysville, right along the Toccoa River across from the Cove.

You are a short drive from Lake Blue Ridge, the Chattahoochee National Forest, Brasstown Bald and many hiking trails, such as the Aska adventure area, the Appalachian Trail, the Benton McCaye Trail, and trails in the Big Frog wilderness area, Cohutta wilderness area and the Rich Mountain wilderness area. The Ocoee River whitewater center with the Olympic kayak rapids and the world class mountain biking trails are less than 20 minutes away. Hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing, boating, swimming, zip lines -- oh my!

4th of July week
We stayed at the Cove in July. The rain in the forcast nearly kept us home, but luckily we decided to go despite the weather. The boys loved playing in the creek, and when it rained we stayed happy and dry in the shelter, and my boys even invented a new card game. We took day trips to raft and to explore the area. All in all we had a great week relaxing and making memories.

About the host

Born and raised in the country, love Fannin County! I don't know why we are upside down in the profile picture!

Why they chose this property

It is a beautiful bit of wilderness just steps away from the Toccoa River. Used to be the community water supply before the City brought water to North Fannin County. Most of Fannin County is National Forest land. These parcels are located near our weekend house.

What makes this property unique

There are only a few campgrounds in the Blue Ridge area. It is a secluded and private camping site with Toccoa river access. This location is completely private- once you book, it blocks all other bookings for your visit.
