Klo Phillippi purchased this House in 2018
Why Klo Phillippi chose Frankfort
We wanted a vacation home that was centrally located in Frankfort, MI and very close to Main Street, Betsie Bay, and Lake Michigan. We have vacationed in Frankfort for many years, and decided to put down our roots here in town. We were delighted to find this house and we saw the potential to create a lovely home here.
What makes this House unique
We had a place in Mackinaw City, and decided to relocate to a quieter part of Lake Michigan here in Frankfort. We have found that it's easy to meet local people and get to know the community. Wait outside for a table at Dinghy's and you are bound to meet someone with similar interests. We all pick Frankfort for interesting reasons. Frankfort has excellent restaurants and both winter and water sports are readily available. The beach is simply wonderful. Folks enjoy all kinds of water activities there. Klo loves walking along the water looking for interesting stones (especially Petoskeys).

Everything was clean, organized and had anything we might need for our stay there. Felt like home.
Great place and walking distance to lake and town. We will plan to stay here again!!
Birch Cottage is Great
We had a wonderful stay at Birch Cottage. It is beautifully decorated, clean , modern, well stocked and very comfortable. We enjoyed the books also. Great communication with owners. Highly recommended!
This was a great place to stay for overflow of our family reunion! Close to shopping, downtown and beach. Could ride a bike to all of the above or drive. Quiet neighborhood and beautiful house.
An absolute joy. Everything was perfect.
Perfect home for a vacation in Frankfort!
We loved this house! Located within walking distance of downtown and the beach, it was perfect for our stay. The home was also clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated (we loved looking through the historic books and maps). We also loved that the kitchen was stocked with any utensils/appliances you might need, and the bathrooms also had items one might forget when packing (ie; Q-tips). Thank you for a great vacation!
The cottage is located in the heart of Frankfort, a short walk to Main Street with all its terrific shops, galleries, and excellent restaurants, and to the boat launch on Betsie Bay. A little longer 9-block walk, or a short drive, brings you to the beautiful sandy shore of Lake Michigan. The beach is great fun and shared by all. There are always things to do at the beach besides sunbathing and swimming. The paddle boarding is excellent, volleyball nets are available; you can walk out to the lighthouse and always enjoy the magnificent Lake Michigan sunsets.
Frankfort is a central location in the northwest Lower Peninsula. Close by are Manistee, Beula and Crystal Lake and many more small towns that are fun to explore. For nostalgia we have an old time hardware store that has everything you would want a hardware store to have. Traverse City is also a terrific side trip with excellent restaurants, galleries and shops.
There are lots of excellent golf courses near by. There are commercial fishermen who are happy to take you out for a few hours or a day trip.
We recommend driving M-22 through Empire, Glen Lake, Leland, Northport, Sutton’s Bay, and down to Traverse City - “Around the Horn: The M-22 Loop.” This road trip encircles the very best vineyards in Michigan, similar to driving in California’s Napa Valley. Download a guide to the wine country and sample the best wine Michigan has to offer.
If you also have an interest in winter sports, there are cross-country snowshoe and ski trails, snowmobile routes through the woods, and excellent ski slopes 17 miles inland at Crystal Mountain resort. Birch Cottage is available for rent year round.
