Overview

About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Our Timber Framed Guest Cottage is a very sweet cozy place completely furnished for your comfort. It has one bedroom and a large loft area with another queen bed and one twin bed to sleep up to 5 people total. There is a gas fireplace and large gas grill on the back deck. Bathroom is small but sweet with a claw foot tub to soak in if desired or shower with enclosed curtain.

The cottage is located in a very quiet area of town on the edge of an aspen grove and field of wild flowers. It is just one block off the main road through town and is walking distance to a variety of services and shops - restaurants, antiques, golf, groceries, car rentals, AmTrak train station (summer season only), horseback riding, and shuttle services to all hiking tails and lodges within Glacier National Park (summer season only).

It can also be a great winter get away if you like to cross country ski, back country skiing and snowboarding. Essex is a 1/2 hour drive that offers miles of groomed xc ski trails - classic and skate.

The cottage shares a very large yard with our other rental home right next door (VRBO listing # 328250). It is an ideal setting if traveling with a large group or multiple families. There are yard games to enjoy as well: badmitten, croquet, volleyball, soccer, etc. We also have a few bicycles available for your use - single speed 'townie' type bikes to roam around the town of East Glacier on.

We are in a great location to come and explore Glacier National Park all four seasons. Come relax and enjoy the town of East Glacier Park and the national park while staying in our cottage.

Perfect access to wonderful town and park

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as described, and access to everything is easy. Colleen and Marty provided excellent service and went above and beyond what was expected to make sure our honeymoon was memorable.

The cottage is beautiful and in excellent condition!

Very clean and felt like home

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was the cleanest house we've ever stayed in that we found on VRBO. We used the cottage as our home base for all the hiking we did in Glacier/Waterton. We hiked 55 miles in 6 days and the cottage was the perfect place to come back to every night and relax. It was very private and cozy! We cooked every night and it had everything we needed. We even used the grill one night and it was perfect. The road from the cottage to the St. Mary's area of the park was about 45 minutes. On the drive is where we saw most of our wild life. So be careful! We saw moose, coyote, dear and a bobcat. I would say the drive to the park was about the only downside to the cottage. Oh and a jacuzzi would be nice after all that hiking. If you are looking for a place to stay near Glacier stay here! Marty and was wonderful! Check out was easy. Thank you Coleen for sharing your beautiful home!!

Owner's Response: Mary Kathryn, I am so glad you had a fantastic time hiking in the park and found our place relaxing and comfortable. Your right - a hot tub would be the icing on the cake for our place after a long day of hiking in the park. Maybe some day! It sounds like you also had incredible wildlife sightings. Way to go and get out there! Thanks again for the positive review and look us up again if you plan to return for more Glacier adventures. Colleen

Great private cottage near Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our family of 5. Plenty of privacy, clean, sufficient space, comfortable beds, washer/dryer, and located in a very nice small town of East Glacier National Park. Located a little over an hour away from St Mary and Many Glacier entrances to Glacier Park. We even made longer drives to Waterton in Alberta and West Glacier. The property mgr, Marty, was great and offered good tips on restaurant and activities.

Perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in the cottage. It was so homey and we appreciated all the thought and care that went into everything that was in the house to make our visit pleasant, from the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom to the hiking books for us to borrow. The location worked very nicely as well. It was an easy walk to restaurants and stores and a good home base for exploring the park. It was also a pleasure dealing with the owner Colleen and the friendly caretaker Marty. We hope to visit again soon!

Great Location for Visit to GNP and Two Medicine Valley!

  • 5 of 5

This guest cottage was the perfect location for our family of four to use as base camp for day trips to glacier national park. Very clean and upstairs loft worked great for kids. Marty, the property manager, rocks!!! Full kitchen was great for preparing meals, back deck perfect for afternoon happy hours and lawn great for kids badminton playing. Thanks again, we'll be back!!!

Cute cottage with large yard - perfect for families

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for 1 night while touring 2 medicine, though it was more like a day and a half since I called ahead and Marty the property manager said we could check in early since he'd finished cleaning by 12pm, which was a nice surprise. Check in time technically 4pm, I think. We have 3 young kids and Colleen was very easy to work with and very kind to our somewhat noisy crew. The cottage is just as cute as pictured, in a secondary street off the Main Street in East Glacier, with a large, fully fenced grassy yard. The yard is shared with the main house (which Colleen, the owner, happened to be staying in while we were there). We're stayed in many VRBOs before, and this one had the most fully stocked home we've ever stayed in. Small things that just made my day, like finding there were ziplock bags for packing lunches, aluminum foil, seasonings in pantry, laundry detergent for washer/dryer (not in unit but in garage which is off the yard and which we were told we could use 24/7 if needed), bins in loft with kids toys (Legos and duplo Legos, separated), yard toys like soccer balls, croquet set, volleyball net and bikes. Checking in and out was very easy. Some places will ask that you complete a cleaning list on the day you leave; I called Marty to check and he said 'Don't worry about a thing, we're not one of those places!' My only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer - we moved to west glacier and were disappointed after staying here. 10 mins to 2 Medicine parking lot, 5 min or less from Glacier Lodge, which is cool as a historic lodge but way overpriced for dinner. Only thing is if privacy is important to you, the front yard is shared with main house, though there is a smaller private back deck with hammock and chairs. Oh, and a curtain on window of front door would be nice as front yard does look straight in to cottage (in case you happen to be running after your kids in your underwear and a group of people happen to be getting bikes out of the shed out front). Would definitely recommend the cottage and we would stay here again for longer next time.
