What a Wonderful Place to Stay!

If you like sunsets over the mountains from the covered porch swing, a quiet place to land after a day of adventures, lightening bugs shining on the fields, a beautifully decorated interior, everything you need in a kitchen to cook healthy meals, close proximity to incredible hikes and small towns to explore, and amazing hosts this is also the place for you too!

Beautiful!

We loved staying here, everything is so clean and comfortable and that patio!!!! We spent almost all the time we were here and not out exploring sitting on the patio enjoying the fresh air, the view and the chickens. Definitely a great place for us to unplug and unwind, thank you!

Revival

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was very quiet, plain and comfortable and an excellent place to stay. I love horses and the neighbors horses came to visit at the edge of the yard and enjoyed some apples that I gave them. Also, the host offered fresh eggs, which I enjoyed a great deal. The host are one very nice house Abel and willing to do anything they can to make your stay wonderful.

Best Smoky Mountains Vocation.

The Sunset Cottage has a great location, very convenient to get to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Hot Springs, Gatlinburg and Ashville. The area is very quiet and relaxing, safe and has a beautiful view! Great hosts Melanie and Chris were very supportive and helpful. Counting all this it was the best Smoky Mountains vocation. We looking forward stay there again in the future!

Fantastic stay at Sunset Cottage!

Melanie, our host, was very informative and wonderful to work with. She was always quick to respond. We enjoyed fresh eggs each morning and delicious blueberries picked right from the plants at the porch. The cottage was stocked with everything we needed and had many extra items included. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your cottage!

What a nice stay we enjoyed at Melanie’s Sunset cottage! All the attention she gives to details marked a place to return to again. The bed mattress was a little soft for me, but the couch bed mattress was “just right” - a medium firm feel and comfortable.

Peaceful, idyllic mountain getaway

The Sunset Cottage is just perfect! The cottage is cozy, well thought out, and has everything you need! It's nice and peaceful, but you never get too lonely with the cute chickens, and neighbors' horses stopping by. The chickens also provide fresh eggs! The views from the front porch are breath taking, and I really can't wait to be back! I came for the views (and they were so worth it), but left having experienced so much more. Thanks again Chris and Melanie for such a wonderful stay!

Good Cottage - BUT,,,,,,,

Everything was good EXCEPT the Shower!!! It was so small that you couldn’t hardly move around in it!! I weigh 185 lbs 5 foot 9 and my wife is smaller and it was hard to maneuver in the shower!! We are telling the truth!!

Sunset Cottage is amazing!

I wanted to find a relaxing and cool stay in the country to escape from the heat and humidity in July, and this cottage was PERFECT! Most of the day we sat on the porch and enjoyed the lush green scenery; at night, we enjoyed watching the sun set. The cottage is about 15 minutes from Waynesville where we went for dinner -- I wasn't familiar with Waynesville, but they have wonderful restaurants and a really nice Main Street area to browse. The cabin came with fresh eggs and blueberries, which were a nice surprise! The kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed (coffee pot, toaster, microwave, fridge, etc.) and the bed was quite comfortable. Melanie checked in with us early and answered the one question I had very quickly. We're already wondering when we can book another visit! Thank you for hosting a cottage like this!

Breathtaking!

I have stayed in many vrbo accommodations. I wasn't sure what this one would be like as there was only 1 review. I wasn't sure if it would be as private as I like. WELL... It hit all the marks and then some. The view was incredible. The small but perfect for 2 accomodations were tastefully decorated, well appointed, very clean and very private. Our only company were the horses grazing in the pasture next to us. My husband and I were scouting the area for property and liked the area of this vrbo the best! It was such a gem of a find, we highly recommend it. If you don't love the countryside you may enjoy it less, but for us it was ideal. Thank you Melanie and Chris, great job! (Also appreciated the easy drive, no torturous mountain roads to get there!)

Great weekend getaway

Very peaceful beautiful setting. Extremely clean. Great hostess! The view from the front porch swing was beautiful! I got a beautiful pic of the sunset. My husband enjoyed fresh eggs from the chicken on the property both mornings. We would definitely come back to stay at Sunset Cottage again.

Perfect Hosts and Peace and Quiet

This cottage was superb, complete with amazing views and complimentary eggs from the resident hens! Could not have asked for more. Stayed 11 nights and the hosts were the best! This was the most peaceful stay and cozy cottage. Enjoyed sitting on the back porch, watching the rain and enjoying the mountain views. This is a cozy cottage, probably best for two max. I was solo and it was great! About 15 mins to grocery stores, etc.

Five star review!

What a great place! Definitely a five star review!! Totally different than any other VRBO’s that we have stayed at. Sunset Cottage is charming, well appointed, and hosts Melanie and Chris have the cottage well-stocked with anything you could possibly need. The dividends that came along with staying at the cottage was such a pleasant surprise. There are horses in the pasture next door that would come and visit us and we got to see the prettiest chickens i’ve ever seen! We used the fire pit just about every night, we sat on the porch that has the most gorgeous view of the mountains and watched sunsets. If you really want to relax and get away from it all, this is the place! Our highlights of the trip were skiing at Maggie Valley and and mining for gems! We had our nine-year-old grandson with us who didn’t want to leave so we will be back next year! Thank you Melanie and Chris for being such great hosts, being so attentive to any of our needs and making us feel so welcomed!!

Sunset Cottage far exceeded our expectations. The majestic mountain range from the comfort of the porch swing-PRICELESS. The ladies (chickens) were such a treat, providing fresh eggs and pleasant clucking completed a country feeling we desired. Relaxation at its best. I'm grew up traveling around the world with my military family. This experience gave me an appreciation for small communities, beautiful locations, and adventure. Thirteen years ago, my family and I intentionally chose to settle in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Few places I've seen offer the piece, natural variety, and welcoming community that this area provides. I love our home and am proud to share it with you. My husband and I built the cottage about 10 years ago and recently remodeled it to add a kitchenette and offer it for rent. We pride ourselves on providing a 5-star experience and guarantee you a restful, private experience.

The Sunset Cottage sits on a knoll in the Crabtree Community outside of Waynesville, North Carolina. I believe we have some of the most breathtaking mountain sunsets you'll see anywhere. Our property is easy to access from I-40. The driveway is gradual and can be accessed by any type of car. You'll park under a covered carport and access the cottage from a private entrance off your private, covered patio. The bedroom has a cozy queen bed, and our sofa has a fold-out, memory foam mattress. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, sink, convection oven/microwave, and 2 burner cooktop. Enjoy a delicious meal inside or on the patio. Light a fire in your fire pit and watch the sunset.
