Magnificent Views, History and Southern Charm

Bedrooms 2
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Beautiful two-bedroom oceanfront cottage apartment with unbelievable second floor views and next-door to historic Fort Moultrie.

This is the best small vacation spot you'll find. The views from the second floor porch, bedroom and living area are unbelievable. The historic Fort Moultrie property and a large maritime forest extend for over a mile up the beach making for a seemingly deserted island during walks and runs. We have a birds-eye view of every boat that passes through the harbor whether it's a cruise ship, sailing ketch or shrimp boat.

Fishing out front is good and you're almost always guaranteed to see lots of bottle-nose dolphins. Swimming right of the rock jetty is good as we have a gentle slope with small, lapping waves.

You can walk up the beach in the morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean and then sit out front in our Adirondack chairs to see spectacular sunsets over the harbor and the steeples of old Charleston.

Our place is a 100 year-old Southern beach cottage that was built to house Army Corps nurses prior to WWI. While totally updated and in great condition, we've made sure to preserve the old beach cottage charm. It's wonderfully decorated but is all about comfort.

We have lots of books for reading and napping. Much to our chagrin, we also have wireless internet, cable, DVD and an iPod ready CD player. We are literally next door to historic Fort Moultrie that is now a very uncrowded National Park but played an integral role in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and WWII.

Sullivan's Island is not a tourist town. It is a beautiful and quaint village island. It's mostly made up of full time residents. It is very safe and family friendly. You can bicycle down to the town center for great restaurants with outdoor dining, playgrounds, tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, galleries and a small grocery store. Lots of folks think of Sullivan's Island as 'Mayberry by the Sea'.

What makes this condo unique

We previously owned the other apartments in the cottage but always loved the second floor unit the most. It has unbelievable views and additional privacy.

Best porch view on Sullivan's!

Our visit was amazing. Wonderful spot - loved seeing the tall ships arrive in harbor & all the other ships, boats, & dolphin! Keith was a wonderful host. We will definitely be back!

We would stay there again

We loved the quiet and beautiful location of this property. It’s located right next to Ft Moultrie, and one of four units connected to each other, although not noisy. We had some trouble finding are way inside, so for future renters, head to the door on the ocean side of the unit. The unit has a porch overlooking the ocean and plenty of dolphins could be seen. The unit was clean, although the kitchen was a little dark at night due to some burnt out bulbs. Also, plenty of recycle containers at the side of the house. On more than one occasion, a nice little black cat came to visit us on the porch. My wife, the family cook, said some of the cookware was a little worn, so, maybe the owner might consider some updates.

Would have been a perfect vacation if we had never left the patio

  • 5 of 5

There isn't a much better location in all of Charleston for beach views and access, proximity to a beach town and low key character and charm. We loved everything about to stay and this will be our go to location when vacationing in Charleston.

We had a great stay! Amazing views from bedroom, great porch, easy beach access. All my family and friends who live on the island took the info to recommend to their friends. Look forward to staying on my next visit home.
