Down a short gravel road you arrive at a cabin covered in lush emerald green trees and moss with the sounds of rushing water in the background. Time at Bear Gone Fishing made us want to stay longer. Private, yet with ez access to town the cabin provided everything needed for our multi-day stay. Located on a stream, rushing water lulls and relaxes while sitting on a deck as the sun warms tired muscles after a mountain hike. Spacious and comfortable it quickly felt like home, we really enjoyed our stay and we're already thinking about our next trip! Thanks Lori for sharing this special place.
Beautiful, private, spacious cabin right on the creek! Jump in for a swim, then warm up in the sauna. Plenty of trails on property to explore, and a truly private feel! We went with two families and had plenty of space for the adults and kids!
Great location next to awesome Middle Creek! The house was very comfortable, spacious and lots of activities close by. The fire pit was a huge hit with wonderful family time sitting around the fire pit at night.
The pictures absolutely don't do it justice. It looks good in the listing pictures, it looks far better in person. Great for kids and families, lots of games, great amenities, and the creek is magical. Perfect swimming hole right by the cabin. We'd all stay here again in a heartbeat, it doesn't get much better than this.
It was a great place for our large family. The large room gave us all a place to gather, then have our own private time as well. The river was a plus, plenty of outside space and private.I will say if stairs are a factor there is a lot here, but The place was very clean well stocked and the host was right there to answer any question that came up. She was so kind and helpful, We plan to re-book again.. This was a wonderful cabin.
We stayed at Bear Gone Fishing for a short visit to the area and could not have been more pleased. The location is terrific. The home sits right on a stream. We were fortunate to be visiting when the fall leaves were at their peak. The home is very clean, has lots of amenities and is very comfortable. We are keeping Bear Gone Fishing on our Favorites list and will return. Can't recommend this place enough.
Our family had a wonderful time at this home on Scaly Mountain! The kids LOVED playing in the creek, and the sound of the waterfall was so peaceful. We enjoyed the nearby hiking trails (several within 5 min drive), and the seniors in our party liked relaxing on the porches and walking the country roads (goats, cow and fields just down the road!). S’mores were a hit with everyone! Host was very friendly and responded quickly to questions. Highly recommend. We’ll be back!
Of course our family scheduled our first and only family Christmas outing during an epic winter storm. There were many some unique challenges but we pulled through with the kindness, easy communication and coordination from the property hosts. Thank you again for being easy to reach. The property is awesome and their is plenty to do for all ages and personality types. Highly recommend.
Best regard,
We enjoyed our family fall vacation at Bear Gone Fishing. We cooked together, ate together, piled on the couch and watched MNF one night and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny another night, explored the stream, and relaxed on the decks in the crisp fall air. Additionally, we read through your history books on Franklin, Highlands, and Cashiers and learned fascinating information about the area. The leaves were just beginning to turn beautiful hues of yellow, red, and orange. We enjoyed driving through the mountains and taking in the amazing views and beautiful scenery. We visited several waterfalls, including Whitewater Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. We explored Gorges State Park and Black Rock State Park. We loved the time we spent here and made many memories!
We rented this cabin for 8 nights in August to escape the sweltering Charleston heat. We were so charmed by the property with its enchanting trails and sound of the creek. The kids (aged 7, 10, and 13) loved exploring the creek and swimming/tubing in the swimming hole. It's so private as there are no real neighbors so it felt like having our own private creek. It was just a quick 15 minute drive into Highlands and only about 10 minutes to Dillard, GA. The (large) sauna was a fun surprise for my Canadian husband who was in heaven with the sauna and a cold creek to run into afterwards! We loved being able to bring our two dogs along and the property was very pet friendly. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great with the sound of the creek. My husband and I both work remote and worked for most of our stay. I was concerned the internet would not be sufficient as it sometimes isn't with these types of rentals, but it was more than enough for us both to work and take calls while the kids used their iPads or watched tv. No dropped calls to report! The kitchens were well stocked and the temperature was cool and consistent throughout. The fire pit was in a great location and there were even cafe lights (my favorite) for an extra special touch by the fire. We will definitely rent this property again!
Three families rented this beautiful property for Labor Day weekend. Great location for rafting, zip line, Highlands, etc. We had six adults and four kids and we had a blast. The creek behind the house is spectacular. Highly recommend it.
This home was just what our family needed to escape the summer heat. The river was absolutely fabulous for kids and adults alike and the location was centrally located between Dillard and Highlands. The multiple levels were great for families to have their own space while being able to gather communally on one of the several porches. Communication with the owner was prompt and she had wonderful recommendations for the area. We would stay here again 100%!
This place made for a perfect family getaway. Our kids loved exploring the house and property, and the creek was a source of daily delight. The furniture and beds were comfy, the kitchens were well equipped. We got a great workout climbing all the stairs, and it was well worth it. We had a great time and would rent it again.
This property was perfect for our long weekend stay. We were celebrating my daughters 18th birthday so I had teens and adults. This house has a great layout for multiple family members and friends. The kids could do their own thing and so could the adults. Lori was very responsive to the couple of questions I had once we got there. The location was perfect. It was approx 20 minutes to Highlands and 20 minutes to Clayton. The river going by the house was so relaxing. The house was clean and very well stocked. We had a great stay and would rent this again.
Perfect location, lovely cabin on a rushing creek.
The cabin had everything we needed, perfect for large family or friends. Space for everyone and the location can not be beat. The rushing creek was so relaxing and met all our expectations. Close to activities, great hikes and shopping.
We celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday along with another family at the cabin. Cabin was lovely! Location was great, remote but close enough to nearby cities and amenities. Cabin had everything we needed and the water nearby was amazing to look at and listen to. The teens enjoyed the downstairs area with tv and game area. We would definitely come back to the area and this cabin.
Very nice property. There are 4 levels and plenty of places to escape. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The location is an easy ride to Clayton, Highlands, Franklin hiking trails and waterfalls. The creek on property is a nice place to lounge and let the dogs run. We were pleasantly surprised that there were not other houses close. It allowed alot of privacy for our group. If we come back to the area, we would rent the house again.
Great location, central to Highlands & Cashiers to the east and Dillard, Franklin and Clayton to the west. Sound of water is relaxing, cabin is very quaint but very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Bear Gone Fishing .
Such a beautiful and magical property! The adults loved sitting on the porch reading and listening to the waterfall while the kids explored the paths around the property. Truly all you need to bring here is a good book and walking sticks. Inside the cabin is just as lovely. The beds were very comfortable with nice sheets and plenty of pillows and the kitchen was well supplied with all the dishes you could need for cooking and a few spices to get you started. The game room was also a hit for a family game night entertaining ages 4, 6, 8, 9 and the adults too! The host was great with communication and very helpful in making local suggestions for us - plenty nearby to do should you be able to pull yourself away from the property. We will be talking about this trip for a long time to come and daydreaming about our return!
