Magic Sand Beach House is in an ideal location: one hundred feet from Magic Sands Beach, a mile and a half to Keauhou Shopping Center and three miles from the heart of old Kona Town. You'll have access to shopping, movies, great restaurants, shave ice, galleries, golfing, snorkeling and diving tours, live entertainment, parks, beaches and harbors . If you are an explorer this is a great starting point for traveling south to the Volcano or north to the majestic Kahala coast and mountainous Waimea town.

Magic Sand Beach House is a child friendly destination and serves as relaxing family retreat. Warm sunny days keep our pool warm enough for evening dips while you BBQ on the huge, roof top lanai. Or, put your feet up listen to the chirping birds in the old banyan tree and the rhythmic sound of the waves hitting the shore at Magic Sand Beach and order in. If you are really motivated walk the hundred steps to the beach and applaud the sunset. It's a good show and guaranteed daily.

Magic Sand Beach House is a generous, 3800 square foot double story house. The space is designed to allow privacy and quiet on wrap around decks while providing a large group area for watching TV and playing games.

Magic Sand Beach has been beautifully landscaped with local plants and is especially proud of it's old Banyan Tree.

If you rented the house before 2018 Jan, you will only rent 5 bedrooms without Ohana even you have more than 10 people.

* If you have 4 people or less, you will rent upstairs two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

* If you have 8 people or less, you will rent the main house 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

* If you have 10 people or less, you will rent the main house plus the honey mood room (romantic couple room) 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms

** If you have more than 10 people, you will rent entire 7 bedrooms including Ohana and the studio.

Check-In: TENANT agrees that rent commences no earlier than 4pm on the day and date indicated on part one. Early check-in may be permitted if the house is ready, and must be pre-arranged with LANDLORD. The additional fees for early check-in are $58 for 2pm check-in, $118 for 12 pm check-in, $224 for 10 am check-in.

Check-Out: TENANT agrees to vacate the premises no later than 11am on check out day. TENANT's security deposit shall be forfeited if you do not vacate the premises by 11am unless otherwise agreed to in writing. Late check-out may be permitted if there is no new tenant arriving the same day. Late check-out must be pre-arranged with LANDLORD. The additional fees for late check-out are $58 for 12pm check-out, $118 for 2pm check-out, $169 for 4:00 pm check-out, $224 for 6pm check-out, and $300 for 8:00 pm check-out.

About Emmy and Bob owner and manager of KonaHome Vacation Rentals

Aloha and Welcome to Kona Vacation Rentals. This is Emmy and Bob. We are the owners of these lovely vacation rentals in Kona. We lived in Silicon Valley California for over 25 years and worked as software engineers and entrepreneurs. We built several successful start up companies and pursued our entrepreneur dreams there. We loved living in the California Bay Area and still consider it our "Home on the Mainland".

Emmy's lifelong dream has always been to live by the ocean. When we first truly memorable experience in Hawaii was the family vacation on the cruise ship that visited each of the Hawaiian islands. We fall in love with Kona, Big Island the best. There is so much to do here, with crystal clear water for snorkeling, rainforests, waterfalls, and volcanoes to explore, and mountains that almost reach the stars.

We bought our first dream house in 2013, and three years later, just after our daughter graduated from high school in California in 2016. Then we moved to Kona. Besides high tech, one of Emmy’s lifelong interests has been real estate. Every destination Emmy visit, she love exploring the properties in the area. Combining our love for Hawaii and homes, now we own and manage 8 beautiful vacation rental houses.

We have put much effort into every house to make them as comfortable and welcoming as your home. We use the latest technologies on the rental houses, with smart lock, amazon Alexa, comprehension customized online welcome book for each guest and much more.

Needs air conditioning in main area

Definitely needs air on the upper level living room and kitchen area. Unable to use those areas much due to heat. Would not recommend for those unable to use stairs with ease as the kitchen and living were on the 2nd floor. Location of the home was good and within walking distance to Magic Sands Beach and size of the home was great for a large group. Private pool and hot tub a plus but small concrete area around pool. Excellent deck area on 2nd level. Price was reasonable for size. Must weigh the pros/cons of the home before deciding if it would work for a whole group.

Spacious house, great location, nice pool.

Magic Sands house was comfortable for our families, 6 adults and 2 children. The house was clean and well maintained. The pool is an added bonus. The sandy beach is a short block away. The kitchen is well stocked and convenient. The neighborhood is quiet and there is easy access to major streets. Air conditioned bedrooms made sleeping very comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend this house.

Great vacation.

Great location and very comfortable for 3 families. Kitchen is well stocked and pool was a main attraction for the kids. A short walk to the beach meant frequent trips. Lots to see and do. There are a few small maintenance issues but nothing that interfered with our enjoyment. I would love to come back.

Great place for large group with young children

Our extended family (from Oregon and Montana), which included our 2 sons, their wives, and 7 grandchildren aged 2-12 stayed here for almost 2 weeks (2/22 - 3/7/2018). There was plenty of room for us to spread out and have space to ourselves and some privacy. There was also ample room to park 3 rental vehicles. The neighborhood is quiet and we rarely heard traffic or neighbors. The children loved the pool and the hot tub and were in there practically all of the time when not out exploring or playing on a beach somewhere. In fact we had to call them in several times at 10 PM to comply with the owners' request that we respect the "quiet time" for the neighborhood. The decks/lanais are large and a great place to hangout. We regularly ate breakfast outdoors with lots of bird sounds and a slight view of the ocean a short distance away for ambiance. The Magic Sands Beach is, as advertised, a 5 minute walk from the home but it was always so crowded that we didn't spend any time there. We went to the farmer's market at the shopping center about 2 miles south of the home (not the touristy one in Kona) on the two Saturday mornings we were there and stocked up on fresh fruit and veggies. There were a couple of things that made the stay less than perfect. For one, there really is no good place to go for a long walk from the house. We did walk into Kona (about 5-6 mile round trip) but the traffic was bothersome. We also walked up to the top of the hill and back several times and that was good exercise but only about 2.2 miles round trip. The major drawback was the traffic. The house is several miles south of downtown Kona. The airport, Costco (where we went to replenish supplies and fill the gas tanks several times), the best "kid's beach" (Hapuna) and turtle beach (Puako) are all north of Kona and the traffic getting there and back severely tried one's patience. It seemed no matter what day or time we left, it was not uncommon to be in bumper to bumper traffic for up to 10 miles (about as far as the airport) when heading north or returning. Traffic to the south was better but less kid friendly places/beaches in that direction. While the traffic was aggravating, we kept thinking that "patience is a virtue" and got used to it. We paid close attention to our phone's map app so we could determine which route to the north had less traffic. All in all it was a great trip and a great place to stay and we heartily recommend it for large group.

AMAZING LOCATION and a great property

First the cons since there are way more pros.


There is a mentally unstable person living across the street. She woke us up at 4:00 AM 2 out of our 6 days. She was upset and slamming things and yelling. And then when she evened out, she wanted to talk about our trip and bring us flowers.

Pool was unusable for 2 - 3 days. Pool guy said it was due to family that was there before us and the fact that he only comes once a week. We did not notify the owner, I suggest letting them know immediately if the pool is not in good shape as it cleaned up quickly once it was treated.

One of the back doors did not lock, don't think crime is an issue so we didn't worry about it.

Circumstantial. We booked with a previous owner and the property sold before our stay. Owner "honored" the original booking, but charged us new rates for add-ons. Confusing and frustrating for us, but probably won't be an issue going forward.


LOCATION. This property is so close to Magic Sands, you can't really get any closer. You really could even walk to Kahalu'u Beach Park for awesome snorkeling, but I wouldn't want to carry a cooler. Grocery is close by. Hourly bike rentals are right at Magic Sands Beach. I could go on and on about the location.

PROPERTY. The place is WELL STOCKED. 2 coffee makers, what a wonderful vacation luxury for a big group. Dishes, cookware, grill, everything is way better than usual. There is more than ample outdoor seating, even if your group filled this entire huge property. Hot tub, what a nice addition. Pool is not heated, but looked nice after it cleaned up.

AMENITIES. Owner is selective about what they trash when cleaning, which I love. There were condiments there and some OJ and milk (I really like when they don't unnecessarily throw things away). Also with activities, tons of snorkels, water shoes, body boards, beach chairs, pool noodles, towels, wash cloths, shampoo, soap, trash bags......It is really nice to have those things at the property. Only thing missing was a cooler, but I understand how those might walk away too often. It was so nice to NOT have to buy all the little things. The bedrooms had AC, we only used it in the downstairs rooms as there was plenty of breeze for the upstairs rooms to stay cool in the evening.

ACCESS. Door has a code, so easy arrival at any time. Trash is easy. Everything was easy. Some small cons for us, but well worth it, especially for really big groups.

Perfect Home Away from Home February 21,2018

We really enjoyed our stay here. There was lots of lounging space for all of us (6 adults). Plenty of room for everyone. It had everything we needed for the bathrooms and for the kitchen (cooking and eating). The beds were really comfortable.It was a short walk to the beach and access to the bike share, so you could bike down to the market if you liked. Great snorkeling all along the beach. The pool was perfect for cooling off after a hot day, then relaxed in the hot tub after a busy day. We rented a car and went touring all over the island. So much to see and do. Emmy and Bob were great hosts, they had everything ready for us when we got there and were a phone call away if we needed anything. We will definitely be back.
