WATERSTONE COTTAGE is a 3 bedroom, 1 bath private residence located in Western North Carolina on nearly three wooded acres of beautiful hemlock, hardwoods and mountain laurel on Mt. Pisgah, with a serene pond in the back yard and a swiftly flowing creek across the road.
Behind the house is a private fishing pond edged by beautiful trees and adjacent to a picnic shelter with an outdoor fireplace, horseshoe pits and several picnic tables. Across the road from the cottage, Pisgah Creek adds soothing background sounds to this beautiful natural setting.
This property is very unique and offers privacy and great outdoor spaces. It is located close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Waynesville, and Asheville. There are many hiking trails, rivers, creeks, waterfalls, golf courses, shops, and restaurants.
This was a great stay. The cottage is well done and we love the setting. You might want to tell first timers to turn across from the fire station as the street sign is missing. We could have used a toaster but otherwise everything was well equipped and in working order.
[We now have a toaster!]
We had a great time at the Waterstone Cottage. The owners have thought of everything needed for a great getaway.
We traveled with a 6 and 7 year old. The cabin is not fancy, but has everything you need and is clean. The yard was great for kids to run around in. The picnic shelter with fireplace was our favorite. We did not use the indoor fireplace. The kitchen had basic pots and pans which was all we needed. There are not any stores close by so be sure to take all of the food and things you may need. There is no ice maker, so if filling a cooler you will need to stop for ice. The heater in the bathroom did not work, but we used the one in the laundry room to heat things up a bit. If traveling in the winter, bring slippers. The floors were ver cold. The beds were not the most comfortable, in our opinion, but we would still return again. There was not a good way to get to the creek across the street to enjoy it. The neighbors chickens ran through the yard frequently and the kids loved that. Our goal was to get away and relax, we accomplished that!
We arrived late in the evening and we're pleased with the remoteness of the cabin and the grounds were very nice. Then we opened the front door and found the cabin with a musty smell. We thought that maybe the cabin had been closed up for a while, but found out later that was not the case. We found the cabin was very dusty and full of cobwebs and spiders. We contacted the manager and she offered to refund our money but being that it was late in the day and we had planned our trip around the area of the cabin we decided to stay aND make the bestimate of it.
As our stay continued we realized the cabin needed to be cleaned and not the surface cleaning that had been done. We would not even use the microwave because of the nasty condition with stuck on splatter of prior use. There were other items that gave us concern too. Exposed pipes and electrical wires in the bathroom around the shower. The kitchen had been updated and had granite counters and 2 types of coffeemakers.
We did try to make the best of things while we were there and took advantage of the fishing pond and horseshoe pit. We did enjoy drinking our morning coffee on the front porch also.
As we were leaving we found the owners phone number on the wall, so we decided to send the owner the pictures of the conditions that we found. Several days after returning home we received a message from the manager and she refunded part of our rental fee.
We feel the cabin has great potential for family fun if there were to be a deep cleaning and updates done to the cabin.
We had an wonderful time at this cabin. It is very clean and has good AC and heat available when the temperature needs to be adjusted. Also has washer dryer, I don't think that was listed , so bring detergent if you need to use it. Brenda went over and above as far as property management goes.. I can't say exactly what she did (as everyone might ask) but she helped to make an anniversary trip extra special! Thank you Brenda! The cabin is a little far out from "town" but that is nice in my opinion to have the "remote" feeling. A++ 10/10.
I went in a group of 5 people from Miami Florida for the spartan race in asheville which was about a 30 min drive. We had to check in very early (sorry Brenda)...she was nice enough to let us stay when we had checked in early. The cottage was amazing, outside was amazing, it was clean and everything was very well kept. There were board games, tvs, extra blankets, comfy beds, plenty of utensils for cooking, a grill, 2 fire places, etc. It was more than we could have asked for. Thank you so much for an amazing stay Brenda. We couldn't have asked for more.
Fishing in private backyard pond and stream requires no fishing license, horseshoe pits adjacent to picnic shelter on property, spectacular golf course only two miles north on US 276.
