Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)
The RETREAT COTTAGE is a very special spot. The fireworks display on the fourth of July is right out front in Boothbay Harbor. It is a tiny cottage perched on the rocks overlooking Boothbay Harbor. Built for one or two guests. Peace and quiet are in abundance. Staying in the RETREAT cottage is very much like staying in a boat. The ceilings are very low so folks over 6 feet may not be comfortable in the main room. The kitchen is tiny but all you need for light cooking. Most of your time will be spent in the chairs out front. The view includes ocean on 3 sides, Burnt Island Light, Cuckolds Light, Squirrel Island, Mouse Island and a steady parade of boats of all kinds. The sunsets are absolutely amazing! Spruce Point Inn is just down the road and offers many wonderful amenities, such as pools, tennis courts, hot tub, a spa and a wonderful restaurant. There are walking trails all through the woods behind the Inn. Boothbay Harbor region offers activities of kinds. The Chamber of Commerce Region guide will help you plan your days on Spruce Point. On the 4th of July and the last Wednesday in June the Harbor lights up with fireworks and the RETREAT has a front row seat. You can be as busy as you like while Boothbay Harbor or spend your days in the chairs in front of the cottage enjoying the boats going by and some of the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. Treat yourself to a vacation you'll never forget.
This is a place to relax and enjoy ' Maine, the way life should be.' A vacation at the RETREAT COTTAGE is one you will always remember and want to revisit year after year. Bring your good books, your kayaks and your comfortable clothes and leave that busy life behind for a bit. There is no phone in the cottage so please bring a cell phone if you need a phone on your vacation. One other word of caution....the cottage is very small and the ceiling is low. If you are over 6'1 you may not be comfortable indoors.

About Susan Endicott
The RETREAT COTTAGE is owned by John and Charlotte Druce, former owners of The Spruce Point Inn. They have welcomed guests for over 20 years and look forward to showing you around this beautiful spot. Their home is right across the street and The Inn is just up the road.
Why Susan Endicott chose Boothbay Harbor Region
We owned and operated The Spruce Point Inn and wanted to live nearby. Many famous people have stayed in RETREAT. It has a history that always was of interest to us.
What makes this Cottage unique
A romantic hide away right on the ocean. Sunsets at the RETREAT Cottage have been the subject of many artists and writers over the years. The Druce dock is available for kayaks or swimming. Private parking for one car. Nearby attractions are The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, The Opera House and the Land Trust offers miles of hiking trails.

Too awesome for words. Perfect!!!!!!
The retreat is Maine at it's best. Perfect little house in the best location. Everything just works. We will come back
Back to Spruce Point
I love this little cabin on the rocks and I know it very well, my Auntie was the original owner of Retreat and I spent many summers there as a boy. The owner Mr, John Druce has made some changes since the 60's, heat, a/c, bigger patio, better windows and other updates but it is still pretty simple inside. My Great Uncle Byron built it as a replica of a Captains quarters on an old sailing ship, low ceiling, small doors and small rooms. If you are over 6' or large this is not the place for you, but if your looking for a cozy place with the best view in Maine you won't be disappointed. A week spent here will leave you relaxed and recharged!
Unbelievable! Even though it was foggy and rainy the first two days, the Retreat is unbeatable.
Fantastic, rain or shine.
A slice of Heaven ny the sea!
Always a wonderful place to stay... a true Retreat! Very clean and everything here that one would need. We love it and hope to return as often as possible.
Even Better Than We Thought it Would Be!
Everything was perfect when we arrived, including replacement of down pillows and comforter to accommodate a severe feather allergy. As frequent guests to Spruce Point inn in the past we know the Booth Bay Harbor area very well and have always said "someday we will stay at Retreat Cottage" but since we could never plan far ahead it was always booked. This year we are moving to the West Coast so this was our last Maine vacation - we never dreamed the cottage would be available but it was.
The cottage is small - perfect for two adults and is so peaceful. We started and ended each day sitting in the chairs out front - coffee in the morning; wine in the evening. The kitchen is small but thanks to our manager, Sue we learned of Eventide and were able to pick up some very nice cheeses, meats and breads for anti pasto We also stopped at the York Farmer's market on the way up and got some meats and veggies. It was easy to whip up a gourmet meal a couple of days - and the others we headed to Muscongus Bay Trading Company in Round Pond which is a long time favorte.
Having a chance for an evening sail on our last night made the entire trip perfect.
Thank you Susan for helping to make this happen and to our host John Druce who elected to keep the Retreat Cottage and maje u available for special memories.
