About Jean Anderson

In 1998, your hosts, Jean and Bill Anderson bought 40 acres along Eddy Creek, at the foot of Mount Eddy, with spectacular views of Mount Shasta. After summers in the tipi, they built and lived in the yurt for two years while designing and building a new house above the upper meadow. Jean is a Breema bodyworker and instructor, certified Yoga instructor, artist and has had a healing practice since 1996. 'Something about this land and the yurt supports rest, nurturing, renewal, creativity, adventure ... whatever our guests have come for.'

Jean Anderson purchased this studio in 2005

What makes this studio unique

As you contemplate your stay at Eddy Retreat we invite you to take the idea of vacation a little deeper and consider the option of an “intentional vacation” – using the ritual of vacation as an opportunity to create a breakthrough in one’s life, to explore an edge of potential growth, a habitual pattern of behavior or point of view which you would like to shed for a new way of being in the world. Your intention might involve risk, either emotional or physical, taking on a goal that’s been on the back of your mind for some time which fear or habit has kept you from exploring. Your vacation could be an adventure into this territory. An “intentional vacation” is an opportunity to set up your get away so that you come back a new person.

If you choose the option of an “intentional vacation” we offer support as facilitators of your adventure in self-discovery and breakthrough. Even before you arrive, Jean offers coaching to support you in creating your intention for your vacation. If your focus is on emotional or physical healing Jean offers her 20 years of experience as a practitioner of self-healing arts. She is a certified Yoga instructor and Breema™ practitioner. If your focus is on outdoor challenge and adventure we can refer you experienced guides to take you safely to your edge and beyond.

If an “intentional vacation” interests you, let us know when you call for reservations.

I loved the stay at this yurt. Very tranquil with just the sound of creek. I loved it so much that I am recommending it to lots of friends who will most likely be booking it soon for the summer.

We enjoyed this place so much. The yurt is very clean, homey and had everything that we needed. We love that there is a creek nearby. Hiking and swimming is just minutes away. There is so much to see and explore. We will definitely be back.

Hospitality and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Bill and Jean have created an environment that is perfect for couples and families with kids of all ages. The setting is gorgeous and Bill met us as we pulled in the drive. He provided us with an easy to use cart to bring our luggage and ice chests down to the Yurt (a very quick walk down a slight grade) The Yurt is just as the pictures show-the overall space is approx 700 square feet we were told and it feels even larger than that! The bathroom is large and supplied with everything we could have needed. Bill anticipated our needs before we even realized we'd need them! We brought our youngest daughter (age 16) and her best friend and I imagine Bill saw that we had 2 teenaged girls with us and thoughtfully brought down a bag of extra conditioner and towels! The Eddy Creek is a very close walk from the Yurt yet you can hear the sound of the rushing water from the deck. The kitchen is full of gadgets and everything you'd need to make a nice meal. We brought our food pre-made and just used the oven to warm items. The bed is extremely comfortable and there is plenty of seating, extra blankets, linens, games, wood for the fire etc. We felt that the owners went to a lot of effort to make each guest feel accommodated and warmly welcomed. Although we did not get to meet Jean, Bill was a lovely man and we enjoyed our visit with him. This is a definite 5 stars for us and we'd love to stay here again! Thank you so much to Bill and Jean for making a serene and fun place for us to stay while we enjoyed our daughter's birthday adventure weekend!!!

Blissfully relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Dear Jean--Thank you so much for sharing your very special yurt with us. We loved exploring the property, photographing wildflowers, meditating by the creek, eating our meals on the deck with the hummingbirds, and the mineral springs at Stewart Springs were amazing. Every cell in my body felt relaxed and recharged when we left. We are looking forward to returning! Kathryn & Thomas

We had a delightful time.

This property, and setting, lives up to one's imagination. The site is beautiful and isolated, yet close (10 min drive) to shops. to stock up on basic provisions. The location is perfect for hikes from the site.
