Make yourself at home at The Shade at Seascape, the perfect place for a long weekend or holiday break. Ideally suited for a young family of 4, or just 2 adults, the Shade is a private-end unit in our Seascape complex with lots of space, plenty of privacy and ample sunlight that shines through the villa windows.
No detail has been left untouched in this intimate property, which melds the beach cottage vibe with luxurious touches. Granite countertops, hand-scraped maple wood floors and a double vanity in the bathroom with an Italian limestone walk-in shower exists side-by-side with cottage-style furnishings, saltwater-tinged fresh air breezes and a small bit of beach sand that snuck its way in on the soles of your feet.
Wooded Views from a Tranquil, Screened Porch
Spending quality time with your loved ones is simple in the Shade’s well-outfitted living spaces. Take advantage of stainless steel appliances, lots of counter space and all the utensils, pots and pans you might need in the kitchen to make your favorite meals – or experiment with a new recipe you’ve been meaning to try.
An open kitchen and living room make it easy to talk, laugh and make memories together as you while the hours away. (Of course, all the digital comforts of home – a CD player, iPod docking station, wireless high-speed internet and 2 flat-screen TV/DVD combos – can offer diversion as well.)
And don’t forget to step outside onto the screened-in back porch and relax, read or visit for a while on an Adirondack chair overlooking the wooded yard while a ceiling fan quietly spins above you.
One-Minute Walk to the Surf
Though the Shade offers everything you might need for a holiday accommodation, it wouldn’t be a beach vacation if you didn’t explore all the surrounding area has to offer. Don’t forget to grab the cooler and some beach towels as you head out the door.
A one-minute walk separates you from the ocean, where your family can enjoy the sunshine, splash in the water or exert some energy on body boards or rented bicycles. Beyond the beach find shops, restaurants, golf and tennis just a short walk as well.
At night, get comfortable in the villa’s master bedroom, complete with a pillow-top mattress and Egyptian cotton sheets, while the kids can embrace the summer sleepover atmosphere on an inflatable bed. We’re sure you’ll sleep well after a full and satisfying day on Kiawah Island.

About Shawn and Jeanette Lawson
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways): Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently. In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today). In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station. In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well. Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.
Shawn and Jeanette Lawson purchased this Villa in 2001

Love, love, love staying at the Shade. Kiawah Island Getaways is now our go to for our vacations while staying on Kiawah. Convenient location to the beach, Freshfields for shopping and dining to the convenient drive to downtown Charleston. We've been the past couple of years and are already thinking about when to schedule our next trip and stay. Can't go wrong with Kiawah Island Getaways!
Perfect Beach Cottage for a Private Getaway
First of all, the service provided by Jeanette and her team is Ritz-Carlton level! This particular property has been redone to perfection. Great use of space for the small area. Finishes are top notch. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, including 2 kinds of coffee makers! I actually chose to cook on my vacation because it was such great little space to enjoy a meal and watch a movie. The walk to beach is so convenient and easy. Would stay here again in a minute.
Great Place to stay. Would stay there again without hesitation
I have stayed at many places but the attention to detail here is unmatched. Close walk to the Beach and everything you need for a great stay. Even snapped a photo of the label on the sheets to purchase a set for our home they were so comfortable.
Perfect condo for two.
Home away from home!
A perfect get away with all the comforts of home! We wanted to revisit the Charleston area because we have always loved it so much but wanted to add the beach element into our vacation this year. Once we arrived on Kiawah Island and walked in the Shade at Seascape we didn't leave. It's super convenient to restaurants, shopping and groceries @ Freshfields which we visited on a daily basis during our stay. The Shade is beautiful with it's décor and high end finishes. We will definitely be back!
This was our first time at The Shade- we had stayed at The Vista twice, but decided to try something different. This villa was awesome! We so loved the screened in porch- we were a little concerned about privacy but that was no issue. We had coffee out there every morning. Every evening we had the pleasure of seeing a mother deer and her two babies walking down our path- so awesome. The villa it's self was the perfect size for my husband & I. We truly loved everything about it. The bed was extremely comfortable, loved the walk-in shower with the rain shower head. As always, stocked so well with everything and anything you could possibly need. It was also very close to the beach. We timed it one day- from the front door until we had our chairs in the sand was only 3 minutes! Jeanette & Shawn are always so easy to work with- very prompt in responding - the whole booking system is very easy. We always appreciate the extreme cleanliness of their properties and their attention to details. We highly recommend this property- we look forward to staying again.
