Two 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Riverfront Chalets
Kevin & Barbara Hanville
About Kevin & Barbara Hanville
Our family spent years camping. We always hoped to get one of the camp sites next to the creek at Vogel State Park so we could relax to the sounds of the rushing water. That rarely happened… As my wife and I grew older, we got tired of the walk to the communal bathroom, lousy showers, lack of privacy, and the not so great sleep in the camper. As our kids grew older, the allure of sleeping in a tent with no WiFi faded so we set out in search of the next best thing that allows us to enjoy all of the outdoor benefits of camping, but with all the comforts of home. We found it at River Run!
Kevin & Barbara Hanville purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Kevin & Barbara Hanville chose Murphy
We chose this property because it is very unique and you will not find another like it to rent. The two chalets allows for all to enjoy the family vacation. The Trout House is designed like a giant game room with beds. It includes WiFi, Xbox 360, Ping Pong, and air hockey. Got a moody teenager with friends who want their privacy? Or want to play their music to loud? Or want to watch something different on TV? No problem! The Trout House is the perfect kid’s getaway while you enjoy the peace and relaxation of the Country House. They are happy and you are happy! Perfect!
What makes this Chalet unique
The two chalets offer something for all members of the family. The property is located at the end of a mile long dirt road on a level 1 acre fenced lot. You can rent one or both chalets depending on your needs. The covered wrap-around metal roofed porches are just feet from the Nottely River. You can fish, hike, go antiquing, sit by the fire and listen to the river, BBQ on the outdoor grill, watch the cows graze across the river, or just sit on the porch in the rockers and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Nottely River.

Were unable to get to property; never stayed
The gravel pathway to the property is so badly maintained that we never made to the property. One of our vehicles got stuck in a hole and had to get pulled out by AAA!! We ended up staying at a nearby hotel and are disputing the charges. We had to stay at a nearby property instead.
My first reaction when you notified me that you wanted to cancel was "is she on the right road?" In the 5 years I have rented this property, you are the first group that has been unable to navigate the road and get to the chalets. And this includes those who made it in snow and torrential rain. There are at least 10 full time residents who live on Barn Yard, 5 of which are retirees. My housekeeper lives next door and had driven the road several times that day and assured me the road was fine. There is no hole in the road that is big enough to get a car stuck so I have no idea how your daughter managed that feat. If there is a problem with the road, it gets fixed quickly. If there is a hole big enough to trap a car, it would get fixed immediately. BTW - I have never seen a hole in the road that in any way would fit that description.
The week following your cancelled weekend, I had the AC replaced on the Trout chalet. A work truck with a full AC on-board made it to the property with zero problems. The following weekend, both chalets were rented to 2 separate parties, neither of which had any issue getting to the property. There were no road repairs made between the 2 weekends.
If you read the all of the reviews of the property, of which almost all are 5 star, you will not see the road being an issue anytime during the last 5 years. The road was not an issue the day you decided to cancel your reservation.
My recommendation is that in the future, please do not book a reservation on a country dirt road.
Absolutely loved this place. Peaceful and great for the family.
Loved playing cards by the river and drinking coffee on the deck. Such a beautiful relaxing environment. The river was freezing, kinda disappointed that the river rose to high after noon because of the damn. The kids couldn't play in it like they wanted. But we found plenty of other things to do. And FYI internet and cell phone service was horrible. Which I totally enjoyed because my family actually put down the phones to enjoy life.
Great place, road to cabins off the main road a little rough.
This place us breathtaking!
This was a beautiful place and had every amenity you could imagine! This place was perfect for all ages and they had all kinds of games available to keep your kids happy! My son in law and grandson enjoyed fishing off the gazebo and everyone enjoyed wading in the sparkling clean water in the back yard. We had no problems at all and everything was better than described in the advertising! Thank you Kevin for sharing this wonderful relaxing vacation home with my family!
Perfect three-generation family outing
The property was everything the descriptions and reviews said it was. Perfect for this father, 3 of his sons 3 of his grandsons, and all three of his grandsons-in-laws! Caretaker was very nice. But together a 4 hour canoe run North to a park when the water was high.
Family weekend in the mountains
We needed a place for a large family gathering. We were very happy to find both cabins to rent for a long weekend. Enjoyed the location very much. Thanks!!
