Loves to travel, especially to Maui which I visit many times per year.
Megan Sweeney purchased this condo in 2006
My family has been vacationing in Maui for the last 20 years and the Westin at Ka'anapli offered a chance to spend every vacation close to many amenities and activities in Lahaina and surrounding areas on the West side. It's central location and beautiful surroundings were a major draw. Located just steps from the beach, it was the perfect choice to enjoy what Maui has to offer.
The Westin Ka'anapali offers an inner resort shuttle which offers convenient access to shops and amenities at the other resorts.
There is also a Spa located on site. The resort also offers yoga classes and child care and activities for children.
Additionally, snorkeling gear is available for rent at the cabanas - I have seen turtles and many different fishes close to shore.
First of all, I would like to say, that dealing with Megan on booking our stay at the Westin was absolutely flawless. I appreciate the smooth transaction and quick replies to all of our questions or concerns. Now that being said, my family and I agree that of all the times that we have visited Maui, this has got to be, hands down, the best vacation we've had on the island! The property is literally right on Kaanapali Beach. The villa we stayed in for 7 nights had the most incredible, unobstructed ocean views! It was everything we could have asked for and more! We stayed in a one bedroom with a full kitchen, living room with a sofa bed, dining room, lanai, HUGE bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and best of all - a washer and dryer! Absolutely beautiful and spacious villa that our family of five enjoyed!
This resort is definitely family-friendly. It has several pools; one for kids, complete with a pirate ship, another more secluded one for adults, and a large one that spans the grounds complete with waterfalls and waterslide; which my son loved!
There are several barbecue grills spread around the property, which we utilized quite a few times for dinner. There is also a few restaurants, in case you don't feel like cooking. We even tried out the poolside dining service and felt pampered just relaxing under the sun with our cold drinks and food.
The hotel staff was friendly, hospitable and made us feel like VIPs. I cannot find one bad thing to say about our stay at the Westin. Well, actually, maybe one. The food market located by the front lobby is a bit pricey, but you can always just drive down the street to Vons and purchase groceries there. We usually stop by the Costco in Kahului as soon as we land and grab our groceries for the week.
We were so spoiled by our stay at the Westin that I don't think we'll want to stay anywhere else from now on! So glad we found Megan, and hopefully we could book with her again in the near future! Mahalo!
My husband and I stayed for a week in the Westin Ocean Villas and loved every minute of it. The hotel staff was wonderful from check-in to valet to pool service. We had a studio unit on one of the upper floors facing the ocean. Amazing views! The kitchen has all necessary appliances (microwave w/cooking feature, full refrigerator, stove top, dishwasher). We grilled at the outdoor grills for dinner 2 nights. We grabbed groceries at the Costco by the Kahului airport on our way to the resort and ate breakfast every morning on the balcony. We packed picnic lunches most days & hiked all along the west/northwest coastline from Kapalua on up. We also picked up fresh sushi and some other items at the Times grocery store just north of the villas (approx 3 mi).
The property was very well-kept, the pools were perfect, and we also enjoyed the hot tubs in the evening. Being there in January, the ocean water was a bit too chilly for me but my husband did snorkel 1 day.
You can walk or take the free shuttle to Whalers Village if you are wanting to shop, check out other restaurants/bars or coffee shops. We walked the boardwalk every morning all the way down to the end where there is a public beach. The boardwalk is great ... it extends roughly 3 miles south of the Westin Villas and 1/2-1 mi north. We enjoyed walking north to Dukes Restaurant. There is a fantastic little coffee shop (Island Vintage Coffee) that serves coffees, teas, smoothies, breakfast & lunch at Whalers Village.
You can also take the free shuttle down to Front Street which is where the harbor is, tons of shopping & restaurants. We actually enjoyed Whalers Village the most for shopping. We ate at Kimo's on Front Street, very good.
The beach is very nice. You can walk the beach up to Black Rock (Sheraton), then walk the boardwalk around the Sheraton & go back to walking on the beach. Some areas south of the Sheraton do not have much beach. You can also walk the beach north quite a ways.
Thank you for renting us your fabulous home away from home. This was a beautiful property and we will definitely be going back!
The Westin Ocean Villas are great - perfect proximity to the beach so that you can go between the pool and the beach in a minute or two and enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets from your balcony. Also, we love that there is an in-room washer/dryer, dish washer, regular size fridge, etc. so that you can mix between dining out and being able to make coffee and breakfast in the room as well as minimize packing because you can wash pool and gym clothes easily. The Westin shuttle allows you to go to Waler's Village and Lahaina very easily without needing a cab or to worry about driving. We have stayed twice and love it. Highly recommended!
This was the 3rd time in two years we have stayed at the Westin North Villas. This time we got the studio and got real lucky and ended up with a Ocean Front. The view was outstanding!! The room was very nice not as roomy as the 1 bedroom which has a full kitchen , dinning room and living room with a larger patio. The studio still has plenty room for two with small 2 burner stove top, Microwave and full size fridge. Of course the beach right out front is great the pools clean and security good. If it's your first time don't leave without snorkeling in front of the condo's toward black rock. We went on snorkel trips that were nice but more fish and turtles are right there early morning or anytime it's real calm water. Only down side was the noise from the upgrading going on by the pool. At least the are keeping the property nice and they do a section at a time so it wasn't next door. We will stay again for sure. Roomier than a hotel not as busy and as nice as most of them + you can save a little money have some meals in your room. I would get the 1 bedroom if you stay for more than a week.
YOGA END EXERCISE CLASSES AND CHILD CARE CENTER AVAILABLE ON SITE. THE RESORT ALSO HOSTS A VARIETY OF SEASONAL EVENTS AND THERE IS ALSO 2 DIFFERENT GENERAL STORES AT THE RESORT FOR THINGS LIKE GROCERIES AND STARBUCKS COFFEE/BREAKFAST.
