"The Studio" Sea Cottage, Perfect for Couples, Peaceful yet 16 miles to Acadia

The view is to the southwest over the bay and provides warm afternoon sunshine with evening sunsets over Old Point. The perfect place for the couple looking for a real Maine summer vacation spot to return to year after year! 16 miles to Acadia National Park yet away from the island traffic.

The Studio was originally built by our family in the early 1960s, but has seen some thoughtful renovations with many modern conveniences including a full renovation in 2020. Open floor plan with sitting area, kitchen, and Bedroom with a queen bed. Full Bathroom with shower only. Hi Speed WiFi, of course! No cable TV but there is a TV and DVD player.

There are so many tourist attractions in the area it would be impossible to name them all. Enjoy all the amenities of nearby Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor with just a 25 minute drive (approximately 3 miles away by water). Northeast and Southwest Harbor and Blue Hill are all close by.. The main commercial area is Ellsworth (15 minutes drive) with everything you could ever need. There are numerous music festivals throughout the summer, excellent restaurants, and even a cinema for rainy days. Fun attractions include several scenic flight and whale watch companies, professional kayak tours, logging shows, outstanding golf courses as well as miniature golf, and much more. Blunt's Pond is a beautiful and clean spring-fed swimming pond about a 12 minute easy walk on the woods path and of course you can brave the Atlantic on the shore. Lamoine Beach is a couple miles down the road as is the Lamoine State Park.

Our wonderful compound has been in our family for four generations and is located on the east end of Berry's Cove with great views of Frenchman’s Bay and Mt. Desert Island along with direct access to the shore across the front lawn. With a southwest exposure, you’ll love the bright sunny days and gorgeous sunsets. You’ll be surrounded by lots of wonderful wildlife, including eagles, loons, herons, and many other sea and shore birds.

Minimum rental is 4 days.

Pets: We do not accept pets of any kind. Please do not ask for an exception to this rule.

Please Note: The Studio is on 12 acres of shorefront property that also includes our winter and summer homes. Please see winter pictures for clear views of the homes.

Lobsters are available just a few minutes back up the road and Dave Herrick will cook them for you. Just call and they will be ready when you arrive. We ask guests not to cook shellfish in the cottage as it always boils over and gets into the stove which then has to be dismantled and cleaned. No one wants to sleep in a room with old smelly lobster odor. We do have a outdoor boiler ring and cooker on demand for those who want to cook their own.
