Overview

About the property

Built in 2011 with a commitment to simple beauty and harmony with its natural surroundings, this cabin was designed by my architect sister with input from our family. With its understated luxury it preserves the delicate spirit of the Appalachian nature and features the work of artists and craftsmen of the Celo Valley.

Our cabin has three bedrooms and a loft and sleeps 6 people comfortably. The large, partially covered deck offers majestic views and cool breezes, even in the summer.

If you want a true mountain experience - with all the luxuries of a modern, beautifully decorated cabin - this is it.

About Lisa Steuer

We live in Charleston SC and Tampa FL and love our getaways to the mountains of North Carolina - especially in the hot summer months. In the fall, the colors are beautiful and remind us of where we grew up in southern Ontario and Bavaria.

Lisa Steuer purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Lisa Steuer chose Blue Ridge Mountains

My husband and I bought our cabin in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the people and surroundings of the South Toe Valley. Five years later we joined with my architect sister and her husband to build this new, beautiful cabin on the neighboring property, so now more people can experience the beauty of this area. We hope you will join us soon!

What makes this cabin unique

Hiking (easy walking or more intense hikes), biking, rock climbing, gem mining, fishing - this property has it all.

The cabin is within walking distance of the Pisgah National Forest. You can walk all the way to Mt. Mitchell and never get in a car.

Immaculately clean and nicely appointed property

Our children and grandchild arrived from the west coast to enjoy this secluded and beautiful area. So quiet!! Just you and the crickets. Our second stay in the cabin. We love it and the view is awesome. Everyone is looking forward to a return visit

A lovely, mountain retreat. our family had a wonderful visit.

  • 5 of 5

The road up the mountain is a little daunting. The directions are a little vague, but once you arrive it is worth it. The home was perfect for us. Convenient bedroom upstairs for the 75 year old grandparents, great space downstairs for the the parents, and granchildren. Our children and grands climbed Mt. Mitchell and enjoyed the Toe River. Downtown Burnsville is quaint with several good restaurants-the Blind Squirrel, the Deli, and Snapdragon.

Amazing Cabin, we will be back!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Cabin with a View, and will definitely be back, next time with more people! We shared the cabin between us and another couple, as well as our dog, and there was more than enough room for us all to relax and spread out. The view was amazing and the cabin was well outfitted with everything we needed, including modern appliances. Our only complaints would be there was not a lot of water pressure in the downstairs shower, and the chimney/fireplace allowed for smoke to come into the house when we had a fire going. We were able to crack an window to help mitigate the problem, but it did make us a bit uneasy with the smoke in the house that gathered in the eaves. Overall, a beautiful, well equipped, spacious cabin for a great price. We can't wait to come back!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and are happy to hear you'd like to come back. I'm sorry you had trouble with the fireplace. Sometimes when the wood is wet, it's hard to get a roaring fire. We look forward to hearing back from you again one day.

Wonderful Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the Cabin with a View. The view of the mountains is absolutely stunning. We went for a weekend Anniversary Getaway but there is plenty of room to bring your kiddos for a stay! If you enjoy hiking you can hike without even driving anywhere. There is plenty of hiking around the cabin. We will be going back to stay again!

If the focus of your vacation is to explore the craft studios of the Appalachian Mountains, then you've come to the right place. There are over 200 potters, glassblowers, metalworkers and jewelry makers within a forty mile radius of our cabin. Penland School of Crafts is about a thirty minutes drive from Celo. Mount Mitchell Golf Course, Carolina Hemlocks State Park, Crabtree Falls, the Appalachian Trail and the Mountain Goat Farm are all just a short drive away.
